The current story arc started with this strip: A Trip to the Forest.
When I was going for a walk in the forest with my parents, we sometimes stopped to play baseball with a stick and pine cones. It was always quite difficult to hit the “ball”.
- Shadow: Greetings. My name is Shadow. I would really appreciate it if you didn’t eat Sid.
- Woo: You want him all to yourself, eh? Forget it! Either I eat him or I let him go!
- Shadow: As delicious as he may be, Sid is still my best and only friend. If you ate him, I’d be very lonely in the future. But it’s your catch. You can do whatever you want with it.
- Woo: …

I’ve tried that before with a stick and a rock. A bit more difficult to hit than a pinecone, I gotta say.
Aww!! ^^ its so cute :3
I love this comic
Didn’t his mother teach him not to play with his food? =P
lol hes got a brain fart in box2 XD
I’m confused. Why was squirrley so concerned about the eating in the previous strip if they’re best buddy-friends?
@Rabid: He said, “I swear I’m telling the truth! Or the Shadow will catch and devour me!” This implies confidence that the Shadow will *not* catch and devour him, and his smile backs up that interpretation. It’s like saying, “If I’m lying, I hope to be struck by lightning.”
Hey Tommy. Also, could be that indeed. Either way, the management of time-lapse between the penultimate and final panels here is glorious.
Great comics! Thank you for posting it in both German and English, I’ve been trying to learn German and this comic really helps!
OK. So, can the whole forest talk in Human? And, just how much can they truly do, if camp fires are a no brainer? Sounding very much like the only pedistal that Humanity has to sit on now is the one it self-created. And, having that blind eye helps, too.
The squirrel must provide the garnish!
@ tyciol:
*nods* Too true.
I my head, Shadow sounds like the fox guy from Pom Poko for some reason…
Lol, I stumbled across this comic, and I LOVE IT!!! (This comming from the guy who reads, and rereads 35 + web comics) Wondering where Sandra went to though….. School?
Aw, animal baseball!
I’m very glad you decided to pass the fox off as a friendly, civilised creature, because too many people make the fox into a sneaky, unfaithful poacher
Let’s just hope the fish don’t start talking, or they’ll pull up some sob story and you won’t be able to eat those either…

nice i have to say
I love that Shadow has a stoic elegance about him, kind of reminds me of the foxes from a Droopy cartoon where hes on a fox hunt. I also imagine that he has an English accent.
d’aww…and it kinda look like woo’s looking through the fourth all, thinking ‘ya, i know *pouts*’
Well. I thought that fish was our little Sid for a minute there.
I JUST discovered this webcomic today, after seeing the software engineering one with cats instead of swings…
This strip is really cool; I like it a lot!
I played that game with Calvin once. It ended with him getting bored and hitting a beehive. His boredom quickly ended at that point.

This happens a lot in Kevin and Kell where the rule for carnivores is don’t talk to your prey, because you are likely to become friends. This is the first strip about eating Sid. Not eating Sid in this case.
