The current story arc started with this strip: A Trip to the Forest.
I think most of us have experienced similar situations in our lives to the one our new squirrely friend faces in this strip.
- Sid: Phew! That was close!
- Sid: Ha!
- Bear: Ow!
- Sid: I did it!
- Sid: Aw, crap…
- Woo: ?…!

That’s a squirrel??? I’m puzzled as to what it/he/she is…aside from English speaking wild life #2.
Yeah, I first thought it was a small fox, given the ears. But I have seen other cartoon squirrels with ears that long. Boofer in “Mynarski Forest” counts at least sometimes.
You know, I had just taken another look at the slogan on banner ads for this comic and wondered when the “(not) eating squirrels” part would become important. Now I know.
The Eurasian red squirrel has much longer ears than the Grey squirrel. I`m sure, it`s an Eurasian squirrel
.
Yes – I’m reminded of Spip, the squirrel companion to Spirou, one of Belgium’s famous creations in the comics field. They do look a little different than north american squirrels.
It’s a Eurasian Red Squirrel. There is actually a story behind it why there is a Eurasian Red Squirrel in the north of the U.S., but I will tell that one another time.
Indeed. Such is a squirrel’s lot in life.
There is a clue in this comic strip. There is a wolf, a Bald Eagle (presumably), and a bear. What part of the northern United States (besides Alaska) has a sustained population of these animals?
yes..Yes…YES!…Noooo….
