[0032] Fast Food

It didn’t escape my notice that quite a lot of our strips are dealing with food in one way or another. As long as Woo doesn’t develop an unhealthy obsession with lasagna that shouldn’t be a problem, though.

I just sort of stumbled in on this comic from another site, but I can say I like what I see.

This is shaping up to be a potentially epic story, it’s gone straight to my favorites list.

See to it that he doesn’t fixate on gophers, either. That’s be “Mynarski Forest.”

But he caught a squirrel before…

Rabid-fox, only because the squirrel (Sid) slid to his feet while avoiding other predators…

Having occasionally popped over to the german translated version of this (I like to try and improve my language ability even though it remains stubbornly at the “can’t even reliably order a beer” level), it’s a shame that you may have to drop back to just doing them in english even though I get the impression that’s your second language ;) You may just need to give it time to grow and accept that the audience might not be as large, so the numbers are comparitively smaller. A diverse cultural touch like that adds a bit of class.

And for one thing, seeing the note today that this doesn’t fully translate shows up a cute translingual joke… “Fast Food”, when run the wrong way through Babelfish (as I dumped the whole page in), becomes “Nearly Food” – how true!
(Also I wonder if a slight hiccup happened in the translation one way or the other; “Too fast food” (Zu schnell…) comes back to english as “To fast”. Hmm.. ;)

Strange how those wordplays work out.
Also – there’s no easy idiom in Deutsch that can stand in for the concept of “Fast Food”? Quite a surprise… my schooldays lessons in the language suggested it was the home of the idea (probably half of them were concerned how to order a hotdog or a sweet pastry from a street vendor :D )
