[0050] Sunset

Sandra and Woo celebrates its 50th strip with the first COLORED one.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is a video game with particularly awesome sunsets.

There is also another version of this comic which references an unpleasant recent event.

  • Richard: The sunsets in Twilight Princess were more impressive.
  • Sandra: Indeed.
  • Cloud: Damn sure!
  • Ye Thuza: Yep.
  • Larisa: I hate you all!
  • Woo: ?

The colour comic looks really good and I agree with the alternate version wholeheartedly.

Nature just can’t compete with computers, it’s true.

Is it just me, or does Sandra look a lot like Penny from Inspector Gadget?

    Great job on the color!
Mr GBH-I kinda thought that too.

I thin I have to agree with them :P played Twilight Princess just a couple days ago, and every time the sun went down I just had to stop and look at it :P same with the sunrises.

Not only are they more impressive, but you can sit and stare at them without getting dirt on your pants or having little crawly things run all over your hands.

…actually, I guess that all depends on how clean your room is.

I highly enjoyed the alternate version, that incident was highly annoying, but I really like reference to twilight princess

I much, MUCH prefer real sunsets. Out where I live, every evening, the sky is set ablaze with the sun’s fire, red mixing with yellow and purple, blue with orange…*sighs* I miss home.

    (“Congratz!” +”Way to Go!” + “Mazal Tov!” + “Congratulations!” + “Felicitations!”) x 10

I really like how the comic came out! They look just as how I imagined they would look in color!

It took me a minute to figure out why Woo was holding.

I also agree, hardly reproduction of a sunrise or sunset is as good as in real life (I have not seen a good sunrise/sunset picture in a game yet (I also have not played Twilight Princess yet))

I didn’t get any of it at first.

Lizard tail that comes off. Thought that was Woo…wiggling a finger at something. Which also didn’t make sense what the creature hiding in the rocks was.

And, why the comment on “I hate you all” was even there.

    Suddenly; crystal clear.

Sunsets depend on where you are. I live in a rubbish little suburb east of London, so most sunsets are viewed between the houses. But there was one really spectacular one I remember seeing from a train window. The sun lit the clouds up bright red, and the nuclear power station in the mid-ground just set the scene perfectly.
    Then the train broke down.

Yeah, I thought that too Reindeer, until I noticed it was a different color. That’s what happens when you keep reading B&W comics :P

We have skinks here, but I’ve yet to see one. Reminded of a “Toonces The Cat” episode on SNL involving lizards.

    Jup-raindeer seconded!
‘cept for the ‘I hate you all’ comment. Will someone explain?
I rarely see the sunset, though this is mostly my fault for being inside all day :p

I’m not sure, but I think she’s pissed because she loves nature… unlike her friends there.

Oh, and it is unclear what woo is holding. I didn’t bother to figure it out until I read all the comments.

I can relate to this – quite a few times me or friends have blurped “man, what a beautiful sky; it almost looks like a painting / videogame / Disney movie” XD
And alternate version – second that. >_>

“But the real one has better resolution!”

I heard a story once about a boy who had grown up in a big city and hardly ever seen more than a narrow stripe of sky at a time. Once he went to visit his uncle’s farm out in the middle of nowhere, and one dark moonless night his uncle took him out in the forest, and they walked until the lights of the farm faded behind them, and there was nothing but darkness all around. They went up a hill, and the uncle told the boy to look up. The sky was clear and dark, and full of stars all around them.

The boy stood staring into eternity for a long time, and then he said…

“Gee, Uncle! It’s just like a planetarium!”

I guess Larisa must just be anti-geek or something :D I like how even Sandra’s dad joined in.

I’ll second the call for either her shirt colours to be changed, or Woo to be given big floppy ears, a radio collar and a nose that flashes red when a call comes in (and S to get a computer-book)… we’ve already established that only she can hear him talk after all. Does her dad drive a Trueno that turns into a minivan? (hahaha – ah, memories)

Never mind the resolution, it’s in 3D! I think I had a similar experience to the city boy when going up the mountain on Tenerife recently. Being a semi urban lowlands dweller, where cloud and sky are things that definitively happen above you, and horizons aren’t that common, it was unreal. Like being in a plane, or flightsim or something ;)
