[0070] That Boy Needs Therapy
└ posted on Monday, 22 June 2009, by Novil
This strip is a tribute to one of the most awesome music videos ever produced, Frontier Psychiatrist by The Avalanches.
- Richard: ARGH! Sometimes I can’t stand people! First they butter you up, and then they stab you in the back!
- Sandra: That boy needs therapy. Please lie down on the couch!
- Richard: What does that mean? I’m not crazy in the coconut! The world out there is criminally insane!
- Wallace: Gromit, old pal, I need assistance.
- Richard: Ah, this kind of therapy.
Ah, that’s the best therapy–having a cuddly pet to be your couch buddy. Wonders if they’re watching the episode involving the rocketship.
I like Wallace and gromit. Though I’m still debating whether or not I should buy the Wallace and gromit games made by telltale.
Speaking as a psychologist finding himself further entrenched in a government bureacracy, yeah that sounds about right.
Gromit therapy: Side effects may include…
Frontier Psychiatrist is the best music video ever.
I feel hypnotized.
There’s always room for another Avalanches *Frontier Psychiatry* joke.
With or without juice on your chin…
Wallace and Gromit could make having your legs gnawed off by rabid Furbies alright.
heheh, a bit of googleage later, and an enjoyable few minutes spent on the imdb quotes page, and I can tell you it’s from Curse Of The Were-Rabbit 😉
it’s just finished the job that the coffee started. hello, monday.
And here I was, believing that I was the ONLY person left around to remember The Avalanches…
awesome, best use of crazy lyrics from a song almost no one remembers ever
I always like lyics snuck into dialogue XD
…And now my musical knowledge is one vid / song bigger.
I gotta say, I was going to continue reading your webcomic no matter what, but now that you’ve quoted an Avalanches song, I’m attached for life.
Now tighten your buttocks, pour juice on your chin; I promised my girlfriend I’d pick up the violin.
lol yeah remember when that vid was out playin, everyone loved it even though it was just nuts
Holy smug! I was not aware there was a music video for that song…. Awesome.
-Joseph
The crackers Woo, we forgot the crackers!
You win the internet.
I cannot believe you made a comic about Frontier Psychiatrist!
Needs more old man-head on a turtle. That is all.
Such a tolerant father not to object to “that boy.”
Glad Woo is on good terms with him as well. We haven’t seen them interact much.
Powree and Olive I love you guys so much for making this strip.Frontier Psychiatrist is and awesome track and I probably should go check out the video since I’ve never seen it.
….THANK YOU. You just made my day with that obscure song reference. X3 I sometimes wondered if I was the only one that knew of it. XD
Avalanches? Never heard of them. I’ll check it out later. For now I’ll just point out that I don’t think that that’s coffee he’s drinking. The jar that Sandra’s got on the table says ‘choc’ on it, so I’m assuming it’s Hot Chocolate.
The only kind of therapy that works for me!!
Makes you wonder who exactly is the adult here 🙂
Wow. I knew exactly what you were talking about without looking at the comments.
Anyway nice comic.
Does she just get Dot eyes now? I like the normal one -_-
Heh…cool theropy application.
Do I denote a hint of relaxation to the point of near drunkenness in Woo, there? (Tiny circles near the head.) His “secret” is a good scritching to the rear?
The internets haven’t been won yet. Without looking What movie is this song taking all the lines from? Beleive me it’s Pretty “Divine.”
Ah, Frontier Psychiatrist <3
Oh, my gawd, I actually caught the reference without having to be told what it was. xD I have an entire Pandora station based off of that song. *generally speaking, lives under a rock and misses all such references to current culture*
Smashing toast, Gromit.
Ha! First time I’ve ever heard of an Avalanches reference in my life. Did you know that they come out with a new album later in this year? 50+ Songs! (Very nice comic btw– Just started reading.)
Great comic and tribute to an awesome band.
FUCK I love that song. <33
Ee! Frontier Psychiatrist! Marvellous!
That was the first thing that came into my head when i start read it
-Shouta, The Haibane
You know… I recognized it immediately. I LOVE that song and video…
The Avalanches are awesome!!
Oh man, it’s awesome when you get the reference 😀
got it immediately
+10 points for ravenclaw
I love you!
Officially.
As soon as I read “that boy needs therapy” I thought, “wow, Frontier Psychiatrist , that’d be funny, but thats not possible, no one knows that song” Then I read, “a tribute to… Frontier Psychatrist” And I lol’d with awesome reminiscence and joy at gut feeling being right.
Alex
Frontier Psychiatrist. I love it.
This is such a great way to spend my time waiting for Genesis AD to download…
Can’t say I’ve ever heard of Avalanche’s Frontier Psychiatrist (though now I’ll look it up–Youtube ought to have it right?) but I have heard and seen Wayne and Shuster’s Frontier Psychiatrist–Johnny Wayne to a dance hall girl- “Please! I can never be more than a father figure to you!”
As soon as I saw “That boy needs therapy,” I immediately thought of that song. Then it kept going. WIN.
OH man that link is epic XD
For a while there, I was almost convinced that me and my sister were the only people who had ever heard of that song…
Oh man… you even made a cynical grouch like me sport a grin. =D
It has been a few years and I STILL quote that song on a regular basis.
Wallace and Grommit are the true hiers to Punch and Judy, as well Edward Lear, The Hearts of English Inocence.
