These comments made me sad. Up til now, it's mostly been really nice stuff. Suddenly, about 80% of the comments are people getting upity (over a mistaken perception, because these are averages, people). What gives anyone the right to tell someone they're a wimp or to get over themselves just because we THINK it's hotter wherever we are?
So not only are those commenters being short-sightedly foolish - something everyone falls prey to - they are also being, in my opinion, inexcusably rude. Especially when you're telling someone to 'man-up' (or equivalent) because you're experiencing a super-hot summer day thats, golly, 15 or so degrees C hotter than someone else's yearly average. Sigh.
Besides anything else, I know from experience that from a cooler climate, you feel heat more. Thicker blood is developed to deal with the cold. So even if those European numbers DID signify that their 'hot' is someone else's 'cold', it's not about the temperature itself. It's about the difference from your own norm. And these temps above being so 'low' means that when the hot summers do kick in, it's really, really felt. Not to mention that perception is also based on change in temperature over the space of hours (which is why you feel really cold on a mild night that follows a hot day) and humidity.
Anyways, the last part was for those honestly interested in this kind of thing. The point of the post was a fist-shake towards internet rudeness.

I know i have a warped perception on temperature due from working in a -40°c freezer for twelve hours a day, I'm on the northern east coast of Australia and got hit with 35°C yesterday and 38° today and we aren't even in the heart of summer yet. then again, summer lasts seven months of the year were i live. we seem to skip autumn and spring all together. we go from arid and dry to frigid over night.
The highest temp I've ever seen were i am was about three years ago and hit 51°C, the same time Alice Springs recorded 63°C. This year were looking at reaching the high forties.
Sometimes it makes me wish i lived in a cooler climate. the coldest winter I've ever lived through was 14°C, i must have been the only one in my town of 150 thousand people who didn't have two coats on.

So those people whining about 30°C being too hot, think about the rest of the world before you post such nonsensical dribble. You're living in in a world where you never exceed room temperature over here.
