WCRC Awards went down the tubes
First of all, I want to thank everybody who voted for Sandra and Woo at the Webcomic Reader’s Choice Awards. It ended up on the fifth position in the category “Best new comic” which would have been the last spot to qualify for the final jury round and I was happy about that. Instead, sadly, the WCRC Awards went down the tubes in a delicious drama meltdown. After receiving some backlash for changing the rules during run time, the webmaster of Webcomic Planet and organizer of the awards lost all his manners and called the creator of Tara Normal (#1 at “Best new comic”) a “fucker” and “boy herpes” and the creator of Red Moon Rising (#4 at “Best new comic”) a “bitch”. I myself got accused of “bitching” and “whining” for asking some questions during a chat.
Until yesterday I thought there were only some minor problems, but oh well… I guess sometimes even rather trivial issues about trivial topics like a small webcomic award spiral out of control.
Thanks for voting anyway.
Sorry to hear that, but dont let it get you down. If you are interested in winning awards, there are many other ones you could try for such as the Web Cartoonists’ Choice Awards (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_Cartoonists%27_Choice_Awards)
Ahh, heres a article listing other webcomic awards: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_webcomic_awards

The Web Cartoonists’ Choice Awards are cancelled. They have been replaced by the The Webcomic List Awards for which I am a judge (see the news entry further below).

Yeah, I know. I wrote that article myself the day before yesterday. 😉
[…] to briefly address some drama that went down over the weekend, I'm going to link to this post over at Sandra and Woo which pretty much sums up my thoughts on the matter. Anyone who’s interested in anything […]
Well, you know what they say, “internets is serious business.” Some people just take these little things too seriously. The webmaster sounds like that kind of person – someone who thinks himself too important to compromise over a little trivial matter.
Universal Dramatics, gotta love’em.Doesn’t surprise me how things fell through, that’s just how some people are.Hopefully the one you’re hosting goes alot better.

Well, it seems you were ahead of me…
Well, congratz on earning the right to be one of the judges!
From what I’ve seen, “someone who thinks himself too important to compromise over a little trivial matter” is often too insecure to be able to compromise. They see any question at all as an attack and respond accordingly. Too bad for all concerned.
