The current story arc started with this strip: Unfavorable Comparison.
This strip also contains a reference to the strip Woo Jumps to a Conclusion. Tibor (I changed his name, which has not yet been mentioned in the strip itself, by the way.) was first seen in the strip Reliable Sources and then again in Friend and Foe. He really has a (bad) habit of popping in right out of the blue.

I think some of you should be more selective with upvoting comments. There have been lots of highlighted comments on the last couple of strips. That makes it harder for other readers to detect comments with really interesting information or funny remarks.

I like the way they all have different tail patterns so it’s easier to tell them apart. It’s a nice touch.

I’m sure Lily’s not just using Woo to make him jealous. He’s just a platonic friend in the middle of mating season who just wants the best for her!
Even if he did previously save Woo’s life, I’m sure he’s just a little overprotective of Lily!

I’m not worried. I bet Tibor is her dad or brother. I’m curious what Lily’s relationship is with Tibor. If he were a love interest, he would not have just said, “How are you?” and she, likewise, would not have only said “Hi”. Even their tails prove I’m right, they’re not curled. At least Woo got his fantasy shown in “Love at First Sight” for a few seconds. (I’m getting a wordpress error not letting me comment, is there a previous comment of mine or is something wrong?)
Ya realy couldn’t let it go just like that for Woo right? XD
Well no need to say stuff that other have already said, so I’ll just be waitin to see who Tibor is for Lily. 🙂
So Tibor is probably the Protective Older Brother?
Started writing this before reading other comments, so forgive the duplicate observations…
Two things to note…
1. Tibor already knows Lily. Didn’t have to ask her name. They have a pre-existing association.
2. Woo and Lily were sitting with their hands joined and tails entwined. Tibor and Lily are sitting with their tails apart, and I believe Tibor’s hand is on Lily’s, not holding it. Whatever their existing association, it’s probably not romantic.

Possible roles of Tibor:
1. Lily’s dad. (My initial thought…)
2. Lily’s older borther. (After comment reading…)
3. Past mating season mate?
Huh. You know, since we can’t see their faces, I really have no idea what emotions I should be reading into those last lines. I mean, I agree with everyone so far who doesn’t suspect anything romantic, but still, there are a LOT of possibilities, and remarkably few hints. Way to build suspense, man!

People on the internet will always be too retarded to use a rating system properly. this is the rule. Just watch, I’ll get voted down for stating fact. You just can’t ask anyone to vote properly, because they won’t do it, and they probably aren’t even going to notice you asking them to do so.
Is it just me or is Lily’s tail kinda been dissected? In that last panel, it just looks like the the outline of that middle stripe just ceases to exist. Also a totally plausible theory. Tibor and Lily are Arch-nemesis and Tibor wishes to muck up all possible romantic excursions. She totally pops up on him all the time i bet.

Shoulda taken your chance when you had it Woo, instead of getting a lovey dovey! All joking aside, I thought Tibor was her mate or something, but looking at the comments… doesn’t seem so. Especially since he didn’t seem pissed enough to chase Woo off, he just glared at him and then talked to Lily while he was still there.
Aye, the siblings-theory sounds like the most probable yet… but I can’t help myself to think it would be too obvious and the author has some other surprise there for us.
And I did rate asdf‘s comment down btw – not because of the “fact” he stated and guessed he would, but because of generalization (we “people on the internet” are still individuals, regardless of your incapability to see us as such) and incivility.
Tibdor is like the “big brother” of all the other raccons. Big brother like he’s protective of em and at the same time mess with something he wants and he’d beat yea to a pulp. Like a real sibling. (apologies in advance to those who are single children.)
Woo there is always something that will ruin the moment, the second you say Nothing could ruin this moment. That’s like a rule.
Also love tibdor’s glare in panel 2. It’s just like.. Excuse me what are you doing?
The other thing to notice is that Tibor didn’t run Woo off. If he was Lily’s current mate, he would have. Also, Tibor’s two goons would not have been pawing at his mate (a couple of updates ago.) So Tibor is in some sort of protective role: brother, dad, concerned friend. At least I hope so!
I agree with the sibling speculation. My guess is that Tibor’s next line will be something like “So what does my favorite sister think of Woo?” 🙂
I agree with Kevin & Melkior I’m willing to bet my last Continental dollar that old Tibor is an older brother of Lily’s. Other wise he would be scrapping with Woo not just sitting between the two of them like a chaperone.
BTW if Woo & Lily have kits I think the first born male should be named “Woo Hoo” as Woo lucked out big time finding Lily. ^_^

I´m going with “brother or father”, too – probably brother.
My guess is he decided to see how Lily was doing because he knew his minions were around, so he´d see if she needed help getting rid of them.
I would like to point out that “Nothing could ruin this moment.” is practically a declarative equivalent to “What could possibly go wrong?”
I like the ‘protective role’ theory, but certainly it could be an ex whom Lily didn’t want to intrude on the moment.
I don’t think Novil would go with the ‘active boyfriend’ route, and the visual cues (minimal as they are) speak against it.

I also voted asdf’s comment down, as it had nothing to do with the strip, and I see little if any abused of the voting down ability in this topic. This is from someone whose occasionally received said down votes (but never a hidden comment.)

Hmm…. thought: They are worse things Tibor could have walked in on. Suppose it’s good that he did now, more likely that Woo will wind up in his good graces.
I’m not sure but anyone notice that Woo’s tail is the only one that moved between him and Lilly. Her tail is still curled up a little like it was when it was intertwined with Woo’s.
I am confident we’ll see a clarification of Tibor’s relationship with Lily in the next strip. There is little doubt in my mind that Lily is being on the up-and-up with Woo.
Very unlikely he’s her ex. First, notice that she’s pretty young, and raccoons only get one mating season per year, unless the girl either doesn’t find a mate or has a miscarriage. Second, if he were a former mate she was no longer interested in, she’d have run him off immediately herself… or at least put up enough of a fuss that Woo would and could stand up in her defense. And Theodore’s right about that thick collar fur; they both have it.
I loved the expression on Tibor’s face, I know that look. It simply says “think this thru boy!” I use it on people who are getting too lose to my sister that I haven’t decided on yet. I am still going with Tibor being Lily’s father since he refers to Woo as “young fellow” in friend or foe.
Oh, and Asdf… I voted you down since your comment had nothing to do with the comic, lacked any humorous content, stated blatantly obvious falsohoods instead of useful information, and insulted the general intelligence of everyone who so dilligently reads this comic strip as well as the author of this strip. It had nothing to do with any “fact,” even though I obvioussly disagree with your assessment as well.
I need to check the comic more often, I commented before realizing that had already been explained in the following comic, and I just hadn’t gotten to it yet.
