I tried to color the water gun pink like some objects are colored in the comic Sin City which was the main inspiration of this page (you can’t really call it a strip…). I think it was a good idea, but it just did not look good.
Also don’t miss the next strip on Thursday. It will make some things more clear.
- Ye Thuza: THE GAME IS UP, MR. WILLIAMS!!
- Ye Thuza: WHAT THE…
- Ye Thuza: You’ve learned much…
- Ye Thuza: … but not yet enough.
AND NOW IT’S TIME…
- Ye Thuza: … TO MEET YOUR MAKER!
- Cloud: Dad’s back home from his business trip?
- Ye Thuza: Yep. And he has brought you a nice present.

This is why you don’t fight someone more than 30 levels higher than you.
You just end up with some deadly weapon shoved in your face.
Watching the fight scenes make me wanna think of watching an animated cartoon series of this.
What an awesome mom <3
Maybe yellow would look better…
Anyway, this was awesome. The action is very well done(heck, I wish I could do action scenes that well!) and the ending had me laughing allright. Awesome!
A little over-enthused ain’t she?
His mom looks rather asian in the last panel. Almost North Korean. I spent two years in South Korea, and yes I did see my fair share of N. Koreans.
He should know guns normally beat swords in a fight!
(guns..pffft… only cheaters use guns.)
@AflacMan13
Well, they are burmese, if you read through the previous strips. Asian, but not korean.
I am ok with this. In a ‘hmm, what comes next’ way.
@Lyrina25
Only people who want to live use guns in todays world
ah child hood i still have the physical and mental scares
This makes me think of the story of the master who taught his student by constantly attacking him so he would always be on guard. The comic flows very smoothly, great job! I can’t wait to see his dad (maker=father?). And the present (either it’s a sword, or something FF related)!
Hur hur, “maker” 😉
I really like the art in this page. Due to the nature of the comic, we don’t get to see a lot of “action” scenes. It’s really well done here, it’s action-y and intense without being a confusing mass of lines, which sometimes happens to a lot of good fight scenes. Also, Cloud is awesome. I wish MY mother told me about important events while engaged in epic battle with me.
I agree with drey, and also hope that i’m that cool when I have kids.
What is that that he threw?
A pencil case, the answer is a pencil case.
“Maker” XD”’
Words fail me ^^ This really made me laugh.
Also: Epic fight.
Cloud isn’t shocked or anything and acts immediately.
And Ye Thuzas dropkick+grab-the-gun move is so epic in an Anime it would have been shown in slow-motion and from 3 different points of view ^^
Did you ever watch an Anime? 😕
One Piece, Cowboy Bebop, Hellsing…? ^^
Sword VS Gun is a quite fair fight 😛
oops, sorry.
of course it’s not a dropkick.
But I don’t know the english word for “Fußfeger” … >_>’
@ Someone: To my knowledge, that move is a “heel sweep”. (Though I’ve also seen it referred to as an “ankle sweep”.)
I think “sweep kick” is a simple and describive term to use for that move, Reynard.
Oh, this is FUN! And I love the last panel! 🙂
Reminds me just a bit of Inspector Clouseau and his Chinese housekeeper. 🙂
Crazier
“Time to meet your maker” as a euphemism for “Your father is home”?
That’s… a kinda creepy way of phrasing that… O.O
I wish Ye Thuza was my mom as much as I play the FF series and practice Kendo/Judo we would get along perfect
I wonder if the “nice present” is a H-Potion to restore all the HP Cloud just lost.
Good one.
Now I can’t stop thinking about how hot Cloud’s mom is.
Re: the colour of the pistol – there’s too much white in this page to make an effective use of spot colour. Spot colour attracts the eye through contrast, so it shows up better against a black background.
@JJA79
Yep, I plan to get a .357 as soon as I can.
You want to stop crime? Give EVERYONE a gun. See who is still robbing 🙂
Anyone else thinking of “The Adventures of Dr. McNinja”?
*wishes his parents were that fargin’ awesome*
STRIFE!!!
•
No it’s not! It’s extremely unfair! (To the people with the guns, that is.)
This is the first time I think aboot videogames havin too much influence on a persons behaviour… But it’s WAY cooler than sayin “Dad’s home!” XD
Great job man, was worth waitin for it. 😉
Not video games…
@Blitzkrieg
You can buy H-Potion for a Hundred Gil from any street vendor, Something special would have to be some Mega-Elixir. LOL
Man, I’ve been having a pretty bad day/week, but this comic right here made me smile 🙂
I’m sure somewhere some how, family fight like this at some point in their lives. And it’s just as awesome.
(hoo boy I know I have.)
@Blitzkrieg, Solsta : I apparently have a rather dirty mind, because although I got the (probably) intended meaning, it didn’t take long before I started wondering what Cloud would be like after drinking an H-potion (where H does not refer to HP, but.. something else)… I’m having a hard time imagining it though. 😛
Ye Thuza uses BARGE IN!
Ineffective…
Cloud throws a PENCIL CASE!
Ye Thuza is stunned!
Cloud attacks!
Miss!
Ye Thuza uses HEEL SWEEP!
Cloud is knocked down!
Defeated…
Does anyone else see a dramatic similarity between Ye Thuza and Jack Cannon’s mum?
See: http://fancyadventures.com/2008/10/03/page-25/
This was a total surprise.. But we were warned long ago Cloud’s family took combat training very seriously.
“But now it’s time to meet your Maker” is now a classic Sandra and Woo line in my book.
(I see Cloud has developed a danger sense too… Perhaps akin to Kenshin’s ability to sense battle auras.)
“Also don’t miss the next strip on Thursday.”
As if we would ever do that… 😀
In other news… I think the Burmese junta had better start finalizing their retirement arrangements, because if the rest of the family is half as badass as these two, they´re screwed.
Been waiting for an arc on Cloud. Glad to see it finally get going. =3
I just assumed that the toy gun was the present.
I hope the present is an Epic Ranged gun with + 200 Attack power and extra Haste Rating
Just took another look. I must give kudos to the artist for the superb action lines. I can almost see this strip in animated form just from the frames. (The sweep is particularly well done in my mind.)
hehehe, with a mom like that, i think he sets his room up JUST so he can throw things too distract her.
@above I know I sure would 🙂
A sign I am more brainwashed by mass media than I thought I was: did anyone else, after seeing “Now it’s time…” cut off, instantly supply “to d-d-d-d-DUEL” in their heads? @-@
I wonder what game Cloud is playing?
As far as anime references, all of the training scenes between Cloud and his mom remind me of the training scenes in DNAngel. The very first episode, when the main char gets home from school, the entire path from the door to the living room is a trap/obstacle/etc training course, and his mom’s waiting in the living room to congratulate him on getting through it. (and his grandfather is timing him)
