Update (22. April 2010): I have made a temporary fix to the strip so that everybody can see that it’s a coonskin cap.
I have to point out that Sandra is a remarkably good liar. I’d need at least 15 minutes to come up with such a clever excuse.
This is the first strip with “Sandra” in its title… I was surprised myself.
Sandra Woo is a fan of Sandra and Woo (original Facebook page) which I think is quite cool.
Some of the comments for the last strip have crossed the line of destructive criticism which means the comment section of this strip is only open on probation. There are definitely a couple of readers who are too enthusiastic when (in their eyes) a good strip is published and too upset when a bad one is published. It’s just a comic strip, get over it and care about things that really matter. I myself don’t really get today’s XKCD, but I’m not writing a whiny post in its forum about it. <– You have to take this statement “as is” and every comment referring it will be deleted (regardless if affirmative or dismissive).
- Sandra: Sometimes it’s just fun to dig into your past.
- Sandra: … Until you uncover something that never should have seen the light of day again.
- Woo: Hey, what are you hiding behind your back?
- Sandra: Uh, it’s just…
- Sandra: … super embarrassing girly stuff that glitters in all shades of pink.
- Woo: Eww, don’t show. Don’t show!

Tee hee. Great expressions. Simple, simple, effective, effective. S&W works best when it’s kept simple, I always feel.
Cause there’s depth enough to it that simple works.
Ha, Sandra Woo, what a coincidence 😀
I hope that raccoon body is fake.
@Jorge–Not a raccoon body. I’m pretty sure it’s a coonskin cap.
If it’s in that Halloween costume box,( I’m not sure), then it’s most likely fake raccoon fur, although I’m probably over analysing.
it would be really, really awkward in either case
Nice save, Sandra. You’re lucky Woo don’t like girly stuff. In fact, he think it’s cute when his girlfriends want to tear his throat out :p
wow. I have one of those hats, except, the tail IS real.
Yes and no. As we see in panel 1, it is normal for Woo to kill; and not because he needs it to do (I’m sure that he will get feed like every pet (his official status is “pet” because no one beside Sandra knows about his non-pet-intellect)), but for the fun/taste/adventure – whatever. So if Sandra’s Helloween-Costum is realy made from an very old raccoon-cloak, that is make from a real dead raccoon, that would be similar – humans killed the (poor) raccoon to make a cloak of it (Wikipedia (and Karl May ;-)) tells me that the racoon-hunt for clothing was a strong business in former times) – which can be a valid reason to kill/shoot/whatever another living.
But I would hide the costumn too in the same situation of corse and I think that Sandra reacted quite good.
How come she forgot about that? XD
Maybe her mind covered it overtime and that’s why she likes Woo too.
Note that Woo himself has made a similar cap out of rat fur.
yes, but I’m pretty sure Sandra isn’t made out of a bunch of mice.
Looks like its one of those old Semi-Offical Davy Crockett coonskin hats that I had in my youth. Hell here in Tenn. every red blooded boy and a few Tomboys ^_^ had one of those in the mid 1950 & early 1960’s (Don’t worry mine was made of fake fur)
If its a real one then I guess Sandra should go to the woods and bury her past.
I think that its going to be a very awkward story ark. She’s probably going to spend most of it hiding that from Woo…
O.o oh my she is going to have a hard time keeping that out of site form woo!
Just burn it
If Woo discover this thing,… lol, I can not guess what will happen…
I like this strip.
Oh dear. This is like when my pet rock discovered our gravel driveway. It hasn’t spoken to me since.
MURDERER!
MURDER!
RED RUM
RED RUM
Man, this is worse than when my Pikachu plush discovered the Digivice I kept under my bed.
just a thought…these used to be available at disneyland thanks to the fact that disney produced the davy crockett movie back in ’55.
Halloween, indeed.
First rule for hitchhiking thru the universe Sandra: “DON’T PANIC!”
Everyone has his/her own secrets and this is better be kept as one XD”’
Or else, she should keep it for next time Woo is haking her YouTube account 😉
(I mean… she pretended to cook him XD’ why wasting the fur? ^^)
It’s also funny how a girl like her can actually say that she’s digging in her past.
She’s not that old, is she? ^^
By the way: I thougt Girl Scouts/Boy Scouts are wearing stuff like that sometimes… But made out of fake fur.
(Or did I take to much damage from Micky Mouse & co?)
Never thought of an halloween costume made out of real racoon skin.
PS: sorry, I just have to make this stupid meme-joke to feel better:
First pannel: Woo: “I wonder what’s for dinner…”
Everyone who is getting this one wins a free Internet XD”’
*phew* One bullet dodged….
I guess somethings are best kept under your hat 😉
Hmm, this could be a standalone or the start of an arc. I’ll like it either way.
Interesting. This could provide some problems.
Hmm is it fake fur or real though? At any rate I could easily see this leading to a Sandra and Woo epic fight.I`m really looking forward to monday now.
Best comic ever!!! this is a great improv over the last one!!! not that this comic need any improvs cause it naturally gets better.
I have a brother 13yo and a sister 12yo, is fun how they ask to see the pictures when they were little “little like what? when you couldnt get the jar of cookies?” but this sinister secrets always appear, Im not going to tell mine but of course you would find pokemon clothes in the deep of your closet
yes, Sandra does seem good at lying. I hope there isn’t a dusty copy of “Bad Fur Day” hiding up there, or worse “FF VII” in an unopened box.
I bet Sandra isn’t lying. I bet it’s a coonskin cap that happens to also be pink and glittery.
WOW!!
Does this bring back a lot of memories ^_^ Like Son of Pepe I also had one of them caps from my younger days (begged my mom to buy it for me at Disney Land) but since it didn’t fit me anymore I passed it on to my young nephew after he was convinced it was totaly made from fake fur so some poor Raccoon didn’t give up its tail so he could have a cool hat to wear.
Love this webcomic keep the funny raccoon stories coming.
I can’t imagine it’s real, unless it’s from one of her ancestors or something…
Even if it was fake (I believe it’s real), he would still be offended (I think) of a human wearing his skin. I totally imagine in the previous arc if, after Woo said, “What do humans find attractive? No tail, no fur, ect.” she would dig this out and wear it in front of him. I really hope a short story arc comes into play! ‘though this is just fine stand-along :).
“alone.” I fail again -_-;
I also think she should save the hat for the next time woo gets “over zealous” with the racoon pictures and sites on the internet.
To Novil: I looked at the XKCD page that you tagged and well to be honest you kind of have to have a background in electrical work like an electrician or an electrical engineer to get it. I do so it was REALLY funny to me.
Oh and to Blitzkrieg1701: HAHAHAHAHAAAA!!! Pet rock and the driveway!!! Hilarious!!!
Great comic 🙂
Not just this stip. Love the whole thing!
@random – Its ok, your keyboard just need to learn to spell, I hate it when they do that to me.
@AflacMan13 – I found the XKCD funny cause I pretty much failed the electricity portion of my physics course because I couldn’t figure out what was what in those diagrams. So it kinda portrayed what I felt when I looked at them.
For those who aren’t in the United States…
It’s likely to be real. Real coonskin caps were very common in the 1950s and 1960s… and her parents might have passed it on to her.
And I send a snug to Powree and Oliver. It’s tough to be judged so closely.
Okay, I don’t often comment on strips publicly unless they bring tears to my eyes, from laughter or sympathy. In fact, I usually skip the comments unless they are just a scroll down to read.
Although, every update, I comment to my girlfriend in private.
But, I’ll say this – Sandra and Woo is a great strip and I really enjoy it, regardless of the comments.
at first, I thought that was part of a raccoon costume… but yeah.. bit of a quandry there…
Ouch, that’s not so nice to see, but yeah we couldn’t know what would come in the future so she didn’ do anythin bad.
Great job again, I love Sandra’s face on pic 2 and 3. X3
firstly: YAY Gravatar posting ^.^
secondly:
*reviews the story so far so as to be able to better elaborate on strips in the future*
man… doing this for mare than 5 different comics can make it hard to keep your stories straight DX.
ok; this seems like a new arc, so I’m going to let it play out a little before I make any comments on it :)….
Gee wonder why she wants to hide it.. anyways great strip..
Love Sandra’s expression in the third panel, and Woo’s in the fourth.
I’m not absolutely sure Woo would be offended, but why take the chance?
He’s a raccoon, I’m surprised he doesn’t like glittery stuff.
The ones who are into glittery stuff are called magpies, I think, not raccoons.
Aww… I kinda liked it when the Coon cap fell out of the frame.
Can you imagine Sandra telling Woo about how that cap came around? Davy Crockett, maybe?
And would it be more or less awkward than “the talk”?
@Sir Chaos: Obviously, you don’t read “Vinci & Arty”. 😉
Sandra Woo? I bet she was typing her name up on google to see what she would find (and discovered this).
Me and my friends do that all the time. 😉
I have forgotten though. Hmm… Well my name is vanessa lau, my email acount is: vanessalaurocks@gmail.com (But NO SPAMMING! I REPEAT NO SPAMMING!)
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&newwindow=1&rlz=1W1ADBF_zh-CN&ei=4CHgS–hI9CgkQWEgKG5CA&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&ved=0CAUQBSgA&q=VANESSA+LAU&spell=1
WOAH you would not believe how many people are named vanessa lau!! Sadly I am not one of the ones from the search results. Because I’m not famous. 🙁
Ah, yes. My whole, strange trek began with one of those. Needed a tail to go with the Halloween outfit. The Davey Crockett hat was the only thing I could find at a local discount store. I thought it was all fake at the time. Would take several years to learn the facts, though.
Is it just me? Or is the comic not there?
Really disappointing for me, as not a single comic past #156 is displaying on the page.
If it helps I’m using Safari on an iPod touch.
