Cloud is very popular in school; Benjamin (the big one) and Theo (the one with glasses) are his best friends besides Sandra and Larisa.
cell is short for cell phone.
I want to point out that all strips are written many weeks in advance. This means that no matter what you write in the comments it will most likely have no influence regarding the next dozen strips that will be published. (if it’s not a super-duper great idea)
I also want to point out that I have planned the character development of all main characters years ahead with more or less detailed concepts for all major storylines already existing. So writing a comment like “I think Sandra/Woo/Cloud/Larisa should be more/less like x.” is completely futile.
Also, no writer with an ounce of self-confidence listens to this sort of stuff. Just imagine the mess the last books of Harry Potter would have become if J.K. Rowling listened to all the suggestions of her million fans.
- Cloud: Guys, what d’ya think of Sandra?
- Benjamin: Dunno, she seems really nice… but also kinda nerdy.
- Theo: She’s not my type. But you’re a good match, I think.

- Cloud: Let’s put it that way…

Remember Larisa’s “secret”? Taking pills and using a nasal spray and not telling her friends anything about either? My guess is that Larisa might not have the time required to find a boyfriend and develop a relationship. I have two possible medical conditions in mind and either one means that Larisa is likely to die young. I hope I’m wrong, but I fear I’m right and Novil had it all planned from the beginning.
There’s no point in showing us that Larisa has a secret to keep unless it’s going to be developed in the future. There’s no point in Larisa keeping it a secret even from her best friends unless it’s a pretty big secret. Somehow, sometime, Larisa’s friends are going to discover her secret. If one of my two guesses is correct, the discovery will result in a heap of soul-searching from Larisa’s friends.
I do hope that Larisa survives, but I believe the evidence is enough to say that her survival is uncertain.
Knowing Larisa’s friends, I have little fear over the consequences when her secret is inevitibly discovered.
Now I’m impatient to see whether or not any of my guesses turn out to be correct. In the mean time, I’ll simply enjoy the comic. 🙂
I think it’d be great if people would turn their cells off when they’re hanging out with friends or family. My aunt has discovered texting, and now that’s all she does during family gatherings. I do tend to turn mine off for occasions like holiday dinners, because, well, it’s a family thing. I don’t think you should be ignoring everyone and talking to someone who isn’t even there. It can always wait until after the gathering to talk about whatever it is you’re talking about.

ahhh, you got me. I totally read that in Farnsworth’s voice…
I would like to point only one thing out, I agree with the writer’s coment about how any writer with an ounce of respect doesnt let the readers change their characters, so that is not what I’m arguing at all, let her tell her story, she wont change it for one person. However, J. K. Rowling did NOT actually send out her own characters. They were edited out alot by publishers, some were supposed to be homosexual, and some relationships existed as staples by the end of it, obviously she made very few changes to the kids, but the adults were changed greatly.
So I believe that you made a valid point, but Rowling wasnt your best example, especially because the last book was a total mess, just her mess. This is your story, tell it correctly and staples wont be needed, which is good because staples usually stick out a bit if you aren’t a world renouned writer.

So, just discovered the comic, love it (Sandra reminds me vaguely of Inspector Gadget’s niece Penny for some reason, and the whole thing is reminiscient of Calvin and Hobbes only Woo is a real animal).
Your Poll raises questions… Aside from X-2 and possibly XII, the final fantasy games are largely standalone with incongruous universes. How can you even really consider them ‘parts’ of a series in anything other than common title and numerical order?
Okay I just corrected myself by remembering the Final Fantasy Legends series on the Gameboy.
And the Chocobos Dungeon games; but I can’t think of any FF fan that really counts those as -games-, more capitalization upon the franchise name and the short-lived mass popularity of Pokémon and Digimon in the U.S.
ANYWAYS – Point maintained that the ‘core’ series is not interconnected… Unless you count Dissidia and the whole ‘multiverse’ theory… I really should’ve thought this out more.
I am really enjoying this cartoon! Brings back memories of when I discovered C&H. Well drawn characters and great story line. Kudos to you!

Larissa is brill. If she were mean she’d never have backed off Cloud because she saw that she was making her friend sad. Heck, she would have been too self absorbed to realize she was making her friend sad. Keep writing awesome stuff. (I’m re-reading back issues thanks to introducing my old high school math teacher to the strip when she expressed sadness over missing Calvin and Hobbes.)
