The current story arc started with this strip: Woo Has a Glue.
Update (28 June 2010): We improved the shading of the vet’s skin color. I think the new dot pattern works really well for black people.
- Bob Hayer: This ointment should help against the inflammation and the hair loss.
- Sandra: mpfl *
- Sandra: * That’s great!
- Bob Hayer: Too bad you can’t tell pets they won’t get a shot for a change, eh?
- Sandra: bmpff mhf wwwwlll mmhbf *
- Sandra: * I doubt they’d believe it anyway.
- Bob Hayer: Hmm…
- Bob Hayer: … Shall I get the crowbar?
- Sandra: mmmhfl pfffw mll *
- Sandra: * That’d be too kind.

Oh dear… poor Woo, still afraid of the vet. And poor Sandra, too.
Haha, I was sure it was Woo who was making the noises ;D Also the last panel’s response – EPIC
I totally agree with Draco Blair; you had me completely fooled too!
Is that skull in the top-right of the 3rd panel a dinosaur? 🙂 (I’d say “dragon” but there are no fangs. ;-))
Vet has the pox! 🙂 🙂 🙂
headcrap! oh… wait…
I was fooled as well until the last panel! Great strip!
A crowbar might be harmful to both of them…
Then again, Sandra might be smothered to death by Woo.
Woo must think it necessary torture to be at the veterinarians. Great irony in the second panel :D. Poor Sandra… I bet she is having flashbacks on how SHE acted at the doctors office :3.
I can envision Sandra’s face as she replies the vet. Something like this: ¬¬
I’m not really digging the dots for the shading on the doctor. I get it’s supposed to look “newspaper-like,” but it doesn’t fit with the rest of the comic. It just ends up making his face really, really hard to look at.
Its the B&W way to draw a colored person, I bet he is like Cosby on the Cosby show
It still makes it hard to look at, regardless.

For example, you don’t have to get rid of the dots. Just don’t make them black like the line-art. Make them a dark grey or something. Right now it meshes with the lines and it doesn’t look as good as it could.
Lol, this recall me about Alien…
Or even just using a smaller/finer dither pattern so that it doesn’t look so blocky
Cool, I didn’t know Scottie Pippen moonlighted as a vet.
Nice Comic as Usual.
hmm…facehugger…an appropriate title for the latest strip. hilariously rendered, too!
also, pertaining to the comments some folks have made about the use of “zip-a-tone” for the shading of the vet’s skin color…having seen many comics dating back to the ’60’s, i’m sort of used to it, so its use didn’t alarm me.
keep up the fabulous work!
… maybe I’m just getting jaded, but I get the feeling the rule 34 people are going to have a field day with that last panel. You know… position-wise…
This is a very strange, not to mention entirely unsettling, coincidence… I was just watching the Alien series earlier today.
MFFPHHHFL, mYDPHHP a FPHF*
* WOO, you definitely need a BATH!

Let’s just hope Raccoon’s don’t fart!
HA IN HER FACE!..i mean ON HER FACE!
Ah, Facehugger! Woo remembers me an film called Aliens for that creatures some like called “facehugger” or it was it? Anyway the animals get scared for veterinary like mad doctors…(lol, it happens for my mascot Turrón (a cat)) So caution for Sandra…the claws….will rip her face D: !
Sorry if my comment offends for all, i’m at oxidous for english!
Yeah it’s always funny how pets can’t stand vets, our german shepherd had to be held down by three of us so he wouldn’t attack the doc while inspecting. But the facehuggers is much funnier. XD
Interesting way ya made the doc’s skin look darker, but it’s a good idea. 🙂
It’s good that nothin happened to poor Woo, but will there be any other line cuz of this in the next strips, thta’s the question.
*snerk* Yes, like many others so far, I was fooled by the speech bubbles! But knowing the talent behind this all, that must’ve been totally intentional – I got to enjoy the mental image of Sandra gripping Woo’s muzzle because he’s too panicy to remember not to talk “to strangers” xD
Hehe, this, again, reminds me why I started reading this comics in the first place and why I keep reading it. 😀 Keep up the good work!
I bet the ointment smells terrible (for Woo).
…MMFLWWLL MPFLHMBF! *
XD
nice surprise-ending.
I have to laugh often about this webcomic,
but in points of “did not expect that” this tops it all XD”’
yeah… >_> I had that thought too and it somehow made me stop laughing… :-/
The Facehugger refference will also do it’s part… you now what they do… ?_? ewww…
We all know Woo can hang on tight to stuff. Remember the page where Sandy has to drag in a phone booth?
LOL, I love that twist at the last panel. I thought it was Woo speaking the mumbles XD
I doubt a crowbar will be enough XD
lol Oh my gosh, this is like SO many trips to the vet I’ve done. XD I’m the “animal girl” in my family, so I always end up being the one to take critters to the vet, even when they’re not MY pets. The result is I spend a lot of time at the vet’s office, trying to reassure someone (dog, cat, etc) that it’s all going to be ok–that this trip really IS to make them feel better!
Crowbars would have been handy once or twice.
— merge of double post —
P.S. I figured out by the second panel that it was Sandra making the mumbling noises, but like I said, I’ve been there before. XD
I bet the vet could be copy-pasted into a fantasy type comic and fit in perfectly as an elf.
I don’t think even furries would go that far. Either that, or I am seriously misjudging what other furries may do =/
The skull is one of the x-rays of Woo, I believe.
yea you clearly underestimate the furries that believe rule 34 of the internet MUST be followed, meh can’t care less myself though
Sandra used tickle!
It’s super effective on Woo.
Sandra can now Breathe.
“half-life” I see what you did thur
Wait! Crowbar…facehugger…it refers on the classic Half Life! (the videogame) I didn’t see it!
as a furry myself, i most certainly won’t, but i know a few and some of them most definitely would (and, **sigh**, have).
Technically speaking, Woo is a male raccoon so that means. . .
Ew.
Just.
Ew.
hehe What pet DOESN’T like the vet 😉
The vet’s face looks MUCH better! Glad to know my advice wasn’t ignored. 😀
I just stumbled upon your comics today.
Actually, a while ago I saw a comic strip and didn’t look into it because I didn’t think it was funny. Now that I have come across this site again and looked through all of the comics it was indeed funny. ^.^
I really like your comics and style. I’ve been showing my dad my favorites as I looked through them.
AAAAHHHHHH!!!!
Ailen Face Leach!!!!
Oh…. Wait…
Sorry Wrong Comic…. XP
if i remember correctly woo understands human right? or is it that vets are just that scary!
Hello,
To nearly quote Sandra: “I doubt he believes”….
Took my cat to the vet yesterday for her annual check-up. She cowered through most of the visit. While in the examination room, I noticed a poster on rabies. The portion illustrating that 92% of wild animal attacks involve rabies showed a raccoon.
@Anteros
I have Half-Life and I still missed the reference to facehugger and crowbar.
*bangs head against keyboard several times*

That’s better.
Strong indications Sandra and Woo are capable of communicating with each other.
How else could Sandra have known that Woo said that she couldn’t understand?
Similar to Calvin and Hobbes, exactly how it works isn’t stated.
Exactly. Same thing than when they accidentaly kissed each other, but in a much, much grosser way. *pukes*
Hold on, now…let’s put this issue to bed.
– Is it wrong? Yes.
– Is it so d$&^ funny that it’s wrongness should be overlooked? H%#$ yes!
How many times in the history of comedy has something been so wrong that it’s just right for the joke? Way too many. Let’s take “Man getting hit in groin by football starring Ernest Borgnine.” (The title says it all. The video barely needs be there.) The mere visual of something so odd and happening to someone else is considered hilarious in the eyes of comedy. Unless, it’s drama and every male in the house is suppose to groan and double over. It’s like when Mr. Furley (From Three’s Company) walks up the door and overhears Jack and the ladies trying to place a plant into a pot. He overhears just a brief portion of the conversation and thinks they are in there, messing around and smoking pot. In a drama, this would be at least PG rated. But, it’s just a G rated comedy where it’s so funny, you shouldn’t think about it in any other way.
Animals have a keen sense of smell and a very good memory for painful incidents. Not a mystery why most pets dislike the vet. My dog was a very strong and smart but in the waiting room of the vet he would pee down his leg in fear if I didn’t distract him. It was the only place he ever showed fear. BTW love the comic and the style.
