Girlfriend is a song of questionable quality by Avril Lavigne.
- Sandra: … Then Mrs. Finch said that–
- Avril Lavigne: Hey! Hey! You! You!
I don’t like your girlfriend
No way! No way!
I think you need a new one
Hey! Hey! You! You!
I could be your girlfriend
- Avril Lavigne: She’s like so whatever
And you could do so much better- Sandra: Subtle.
- Larisa: Too subtle?

I can’t help but wonder how many people have actually done or seen this being done IRL.

Ugh. . . Not that stupid, stupid song. . .
I Live in Canada And Avril Lavigne is Not My Kind of Music.
but sill good comic to read.
It’s a new meme …http://www.rhjunior.com/TH/00169.html
That’s hilarious! Did not see that Larisa moment coming.
Ah yes, “Girlfriend”. Musically simplistic, yet bl##dy catchy.
Oh, Larisa. I enjoy your crazy antics. But Sandra might kill you, and that would be awful.
And I just found this comic. It’s hilarious. C:
Did anyone notice we’ve said a certain theme song twice? *sighs happily* I love you all!
I recall my dad once telling me, after watching a commercial of a Lavigne album: “Say what you want about Britney Spears, but at least can sing.”
And that’s more than can be said about Avril Lavigne.
@ Taki:
Say that to the guy that I see every day in the subway with one at top volume. He drowns whatever I’m hearing, including my heavy metal playlist.
And subtlety is overrated (most people don’t get, so it’s not worth the time XD)
While girlfriend by avril lavigne is of questionable quality, the pigeon detectives cover is most definately not questionable quality.
Great strip as always
I sometimes wonder why Sandra even stays friends with her..
Cloud: because we own you?
Larissa: Because you love us!
Avril Lavigne. One of my musical guilty pleasures. I don’t know why I find her crap so catchy.
That’s really mean. I would not stay friends with such a jerk.
Actually, I really like most of Avril Lavigne’s songs. “My Happy Ending”, “Nobody’s Home” and “Innocent” are among my favorite songs. But I think that “Girlfriend” is a bad song with an obnoxious melody and a stupid message.
Hey, at least she didn’t set Sandra on fire!
… Literally, anyway.

This comment reminded me of something I did a few times, a good while ago… I wanted to listen to a CD in a room where the stereo only had a cassette deck, so I took my discman, put one of the earbuds on the cassette read head, and hit play on both… Worked like a charm (though only mono ofc). 🙂 (How’s that for geeky? 😉 )
why is everyone harshing on Avril, I have both of her albums and they are very catchy and the fact that she is Canadian is just a bonus and unlike Britney and others of her ilk, Avril has not descended in to porn for her videos.
I stopped reading this, because it started to be too much Sandra and not enough Woo.
I return and see nothing has changed.
@ Maou Zenigame:
It makes me wonder why Sandra hasn’t beaten the living heck out of Larissa yet.
@ Silent:
You’re definently a troubled mind if the first thing that comes to mind when you see a love triangle between three people who are thirteen is a threesome.
This actually kind of happened to me lol. I was with my gf and another girl neither one of us knew ran up to us and started singing that, and then she ran off. Needless to say, it was awesome.
Just fooling around. (I hope…)
Oh!! I know this song!! I loved it!! In fact, I’ll search for it right now…….
you know what i’m gonna support lasira x cloud just cause i think its funny.
To think the first time I heard this was in Burnout Paradise.
@ the next best thing:
Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light!
this acutely happened to my mate. different song same situation
She’s about as subtle as a fork to the face! @ Salamander:
Of questionable quality indeed; though it is also quite popular, I believe.
Just like a lot of pop music nowadays, really.
OMG!! Avril Lavigne!!! I LOVE AVRIL LAVIGNE!!!
@ Jamtex:
The first time I heard this song, it was used in a fan-made music video for Bambi. Or maybe Bambi 2 or something, I don’t know. I just know the video was adorable until I paid attention to the lyrics. >.<
I love Larisa’s face in panel 3. 😛
Why does every variety of mean ol’ bitch get their own anthem these days?
@ Hobbes:
I don’t suppose you’re referring to “What Have You Done” by Within Temptation? While I’m beginning to learn they’re not as obscure as they once seemed to me, it’s still awesome to find a fan of Symphonic Metal.
The only reason I know about this song…is that it’s in the soundtrack to Burnout Paradise.
XD Larisa is the best

In the words of Taylor Swift “I knew you were trouble when you walked in”
For many boys this would indeed be far too subtle.
