The current story arc started with this strip: A New Adventure.
- Cloud: Do you think that hunter was talking about Woo?
- Sandra: I think so, yes.
- Cloud: Woo is a “talking” raccoon?
- Sandra: Don’t be silly. I’m sure the hunter just heard this “Woo!” sound he makes sometimes.
- Larisa: Possible.
- Lumberjack: What are you doing here?

Hope they manage to get Woo out of that trouble.
Smooth save, Sandra. I love the look on Larisa’s face, you don’t know if she’s doubting Sandra’s shaky speech bubble or simply coming up with her own zanier theory for her amusement.
Answer: eavesdropping duh!
I’ve always wondered why people ask questions they already know the answer to.
@ Gabrielsthoughts:
Answer: *In Irish accent* “Planning on stealing a couple dozen of these bally great trees. What’s it look like you bloody moron?”
I like that better. 😉
Nice Sandra…but you still have larissa and her questions, I don’t think that a smart girl like larissa will just forget everything because of a lumberjack
Well, I’m convinced.
Well she’s held off the question for now, but you just KNOW she’ll HAVE to reveal her secret in this story arc – inevitably.
Ah, but now that we know it, the longer it can be held off, the greater the suspense.
Wow. I was hoping to see cloud kick butt again…
Cloud! Attack!
Actually, always wondered why Woo never trusted Larisa and Cloud with the secret. They’ve gone on adventures together in the past, I doubt they’d be so quick to give away Woo to the scientists.
Now that I think about it, why was Sandra’s father left in the dark? He was the one that saved Woo from the jerk in the first story arc, why was only Sandra told about Woo’s secret? Why would he tell Sandra in the first place? At the time, he knew her just as much as he knew Sandra’s dad…
Oh well, maybe it’ll be answered later.
@ flashfox466:
Maybe it’s like in Kiki’s Delivery Service, and only young children can hear him speak? It would explain why Sandra’s dad was left in the dark… As for the other two, maybe Woo’s just shy.
That lumberjack doesn’t really have any right to be angry, does he? It’s not like that’s private property or anything… I could understand if the kids were screwing around with his chainsaw or something, but they’re not… They’re just sitting there. What’s the problem?
Hey kids! Here’s an idea: tell the truth! “I’m here looking for my pet raccoon, Woo. Have you seen him? …………What? A talking raccoon..? HAHAHA! Yeah, sometimes I feel like he can talk, too… :D” OK, so that was only a half-truth, but still lol.
Don’t feel bad, Sandra. For a second there, I forgot Cloud didn’t know about Woo’s “gift” too.
@ flashfox466:
I’m not so sure about Larissa. While it has been suggested that she’s a pyromaniac with possibly schizophrenic tendancies. Actually knowing that woo could talk with her would make her character seem more or less sane. And, additionally, the reveal would have to include Cloud, because otherwise he would begin to question why he’s hanging out with the two most depressing/confusing girls in his age group.
@ flashfox466:
To be fair, Woo didn’t exactly decide to tell Sandra – if you read the first arc, you see it just kind of “slipped out”. My guess is he was still afraid and didn’t want anyone else to know – it’s bad enough if one human knows his secret, after all. And then, after he’d gotten to trust everyone, it would be immensely awkward if he just revealed one day to Sandra’s friends or dad that he can talk.
Panel 2: Larisa is NOT amused…
I think it’s pretty clear that there will be quite a few major reveals in this arc, for sure.
And I just realized… Does Cloud remind anyone else of Marche Radiuju from FFTA?
@ Wolfen: Then whay did the hunter hear him? Hole in your hypothesis, good sir…
I think the last panel can be best described by this sound clip.

@ Lochcelious:
D’oh
@ Petah-Petah:
Darn it dude, I always jumpy everytime I heard that sound, and I put the volume up.
She should tell her friends the true about Woo bying tarling Racoon, I m sure they can keep it as secret.
And whats more, talking Racoon should be nothink for cloud, there are more weird stuff in final fantasty, hehe.
Wow Sandra, good save.
And why does Larissa say “Perhaps…”? It’s not like she heard Woo talk, right? I don’t remember, but Sandra’s explination might be more convincing if Larissa heard Woo do his “Woo”.
Also, just tell the Lumberjack what Wolfen says.
To new readers, this is not the usual standard of sandra and woo
it is usually really really good, read the archives to see. Its just that this story arc is terrible. Hopefully once this story is over then sandra and woo will get back to its usual high standard, Instead of reahshing tired cliches and awkward jokes that are either not funny or make no sense. .
i mean read 0243 its though provoking and funny, Or read 0235-0242 which shows the plight of unitintentional immagrants to our country and the problem that domesticated animals have to reajust to wild conditons. And its funny and makes you smile. 0224 which is a nice observational peice, who hasnt carefully picked the songs they listen to when they are really in love. or 0206 which develops a main character’s personality and gives an alternative meaning to life. This comic used to be sooo good. Hopefully it will get back on track again.
@ Wolfen:
They weren’t tresspassing, true, but I think having three unsupervised kids wandering around a place where men with dangerous tools are cutting down huge trees is frowned upon in some places. This may be one of them.
despite his tragic end in Calvin and Hobbes, Woo became a father.
http://cuteoverload.com/2011/04/20/now-its-time-to-play-catch-the-water/
I’m posting this here because I don’t know if the artists lurk the rhjunior forum. Although I’m pretty sure they like raccoons. Credit goes to Deckard Canine for the initial catch. secondly, I have no power over the S&W universe other than I want it to continue. However, playing with the general concept, having opinions, speculating, pointing out an aspects of the story that I think are great, or could be improved upon, is no different than pointing out a personal reaction and has no bearing on the actual characters or story development. That being said, all communication is a transaction and everyone is changed forever when they have a personal experience.
Possible Responses:
‘Looking for trees to chain ourselves to’
Shout ‘Timber!’ and run the other way
‘Admiring the view’
‘We were wondering who the Davey Crockett wannabe was?’
The truth, all of it ^^
a wild workman has appeared
Oh… Oh dear. Staying will get them taken back, but running will look bad by default.
Don’t worry authorities, we’re just eavesdropping!
Personally, I hope Cloud and Larisa do find out he can talk. Could be interesting conversations with Woo.
Cloud should answer,
“What any normal boy would be doing, in the woods, laying on the ground, with two hot chicks.”
@ Bucc-i:
“And by hot, I mean one of them literally. This one LOVES to start hot fires…probably not the best person to take to the forest now that I think about it.”
Tell the truth. “Our canoe overturned, our adult supervisor went to look for help, and we’re hunting for her pet raccoon who got carried off by an eagle.” I don’t think we ever see it but I assume Woo wears a collar with Sandra’s name, address, and a note that he’s been vaccinated against rabies. Explains why they’re there and why they don’t want to leave.
And just how does “Davy Crockett” plan to proceed? Woo is faster and more agile than he is and can fit through spaces he can’t. Woo is too smart to walk into a trap. The only advantage the man has is a gun — and Woo is too valuable to shoot. I suspect he’s going to wind up like the construction worker in Chuck Jones’ classic “One Froggy Evening”; broke, deranged, and unable to convince anybody. He might, however, harm Blackie along the way.
As for letting Cloud and Larissa in on The Secret — we’ll just have to wait and read.
1 simple word SCATERRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 0.O
My response would be to simple respond by telling him the truth: Our boat got smashed and we’re lost in the woods.
I love this comic! Better than garfield or any of the ones in the paper!
Anyways…
Can’t wait to see what will happen. 😀
Have to agree that the truth would be best. Also telling the truth would take so long that half way through the tale he would probably cut them short and go back to whatever he was doing.
@ Alex Ah10106:
I don’t know what you’re talking about. There were several surprising plot twists, and sure there were a few cliques, but you have to give ’em some slack. And I actually found most of the jokes quite funny.
@ Alex Ah10106:
I Whole heartedly disagree that anyone needs, or has the right, to justify a standard of quality for Sandra and Woo or any other story or artform for that matter. Personal opinions and standards aside, there is nothing wrong with the story that couldn’t be repaired or overlooked with time, and while I agree that the story features nonsensical elements that can not be overlooked. The ultimate complaint is that the suspension of disbelief has been abused horribly in this arc. I still think it could be easily repaired if Woo is found unconscious. However, the _one_ strip that really draws the life out of the comic other than the one featuring the laziest powerphiliac on the planet, would be the one featuring mythology/literary references that are not just out of context, but confusing and only relevent or humorous to a handful of people(most of whom are no doubt choking in laughter of the epic fail).
Ultimately, I strongly suspect that the greatest problem with the arc is the lack of follow through, explaination, or understanding of character motives and behavior.
Dang it! This could’ve been such a great way to tell the others the truth. Why did you ruin it Sandy? XD
@ Bucc-i:
I think that would be more along the lines of what Larisa might say. Then she would say something about always getting interrupted just as things are getting good.
I wonder if Sandra and Woo will EVER tell Cloud and Larisa that he can talk. . . who knows. . . ? Besides Novil.
Marscaleb wrote:
The problem with that is that he would then either take them to the nearest ranger station or radio a ranger to come fetch them, not let them wander off into the woods. They could tell him they were looking for a pet, sure, but he might not think letting three children wander off into the woods looking for a stray pet to be a good idea – and in the case of kids less resourceful than these three, he would be right.
What are any of us doing here, really? How deep or shallow a question is really kind of depends on how deeply the listener considers the question.
le problème ,n’est pas q’une bibliothèque s&;ufsoreqfondre, le problème, c’est que les romans d’heinrich Böll ne sont plus beaucoup lus en france.ça c’est effondrant.
