The current story arc started with this strip: A New Adventure.
- Woo: What brings you to this hunter-infested area? Just passing through?
- Roq: No, looking for prey.
- Woo: For prey like a delicious deer?
- Roq: Perhaps. But a defenseless raccoon would do nicely as well.
- Woo: Rats.
- Dawn: No. No rats. Rats are yucky.
- Copper: May I gnaw off the tail?
|
Woo: Ummm… why the tail? It’s all skinny and… hairy?
Male wolf: Okay can I have the head then?
Woo: D’oh!
I know-I know it’s lame, but I just got this scene in my head cuz of this strip. XD
@ Moxie Man:
Sir I have seen Timber Wolves and Grey Wolves use the same technique in north America don’t presume to be more knowledgeable on this as you are obviously uneducated as to the particulars.
what about the Kendo practice back at the first part of the strip?@ Frank Dixon:
The third wolf’s too polite.
“Rats.”
“No rats.Rats are yucky.”
That made me laugh. How will Woo escape this time?I sense that some magical pony will run out of the bushes and save the day but maybe that’s just me.
@ Audioworm:
That’s right, If I don’t like it. I won’t continue reading it. I have a will of my own, and at this moment you seem to think I have the right to make decisions for myself. Which is good, because I respect your rejection of my opinion and hope you express when evaluating statements that directly affect you. This is ironic, because beyond social proof you have no basis to claim that my statement is one made of hate or malice.
I dislike the current storyline because it more or less metaphorically ties everyone up with duct tape and and drags them through the mud while tied behind a pickup truck. The story is overtly being, not to mention needlessly, dragged out. And, rather than exploring traumatic ideas over the course of several arcs the artists have effectively decided to kill all the drama, suspense, and adventure that could have been explored throughout the series in one go.
the minute I saw the wolves I immediately thought “Oh, god no.” because I already knew Woo was going to get away scott free, without any challenge. If this is take two of the eagle scenario it is neither a better way to die nor is it a great opportunity to show of Woo’s skills at persuasion or influence. His physical state aside, not to mention his sanity at this point, It would be funnier(not to mention more believable) to see Woo give up in the most dramatic fashion possible and then make a break for it when he points in some random direction and “ZOMG! what’s that?” before climbing up a tree.
Even then, it would be pushing it because it has been established that woo’s leg benders are damaged to a spectacular degree. I don’t care how tough he is knee injuries ankle damage is PAINFUL. Not to mention inadvisable to walk through without a support. Being able to walk or run for any length of without reinjuring yourself or having body parts collapse under you is not uncommon.

Ya know, it sounds to me like someone has been reading a little bit too much into a certain comedy comic strip.
Not saying that´s not okay but perhaps you shouldn´t be hoping for it to be something it´s not, that just sets you up for disappointment.

I just used Google Translate to see what the exact words were, then I noticed a horrible translation mistake on Google’s part in the very last bubble. If I didn’t already know that the German word for “tail” has a double meaning(thanks to an article about a similar translation mistake in a newspaper), I would have wondered where the plot was going in the German version. I double-checked my spelling a few times before I remembered that there was a second definition.
@ Ellert:
That’s right, and when I write ‘The “Woo” Perplex,’ “Woo and the philosophers,” and the “Tao of Woo” I’m going to have license print my own money.
@ Melanie:
That’s because he’s not the Alpha male in that group. It is actually a pretty accurate group dynamic for wolves.
Ahah!
I knew it’d become clear to me eventually – who the wolves remind me of, that is.
Anyone seen the cartoon “Foxbusters”?
Yeah.
I have had many revelations of what shall be conspired in the next few issues of the story.
a.) The hunter will come, save Woo from the wolves, and proceed to try and catch him.
b.) Woo is taken by the wolves back to their den.
Or, (my favorite) c.) A previously glanced over deux ex machina will help Woo fend off the wolves.
OOOO, can’t wait!!
Look,I’m probably the only one thats thinking this….but I see love between woo and sandra.I dont mean like human and pet
@ jaware:
yeah, looks like Cloud has some Competition
Rats may taste bad, but goblins love them. You can use their meat as an alchemical ingredient for poisons, if you have the proper equipment. And they are fairly common if you are low level enough…
@ jup-reindeer:
Well, if it DID start raining Oreos, Woo’s Cookie Punch would gain a +50 Devastation boost, and he’d be able to use it multiple times to take out all three wolves at once.
Let’s hope some animal in the immediate area is performing an ancient Cookie Dance ritual.
Roq looks a lot like Scar (or whatever his name was) from the movie Balto. Interesting.
@ Gabrielsthoughts:
I agree that this story has been dragged out a little bit and that something could be done to make it a little bit shorter, like, combine the strips without dialogue with ones that do or combine two of them together or something. But dude, you don’t have to bash on this story because of that or something else you don’t like about it, I thing this story is great and one of the best in the series so far.
It’s BloodPack. Anyone who understands that refrence Wins a cookie 10 feet in diameter.
I’m far from an expert about animals hunting, but this strikes me as being a surprisingly realistic sequence of moves (minus the talking, of course). Woo is injured, and knows he can’t outrun them, so he stands his ground (in reality tensing to fight rather than talking), while the wolves surround him and finish sizing him up before striking. I’m sure some more knowledgable could point out some things I’ve missed, but it seems a reasonable sequence to me.
Roq: “Maybe we should ask Amaterasu for her judgement in this matter.”
the alpha with fully changed yellow eyes tho … menacing
(yes, wolf eyes change color with age, blue to yellow color)
(blue eyes wolf are docile while yellow eyed can be savage)
@ rabid_fox:
One of the dumb hyenas from the lion king?
The wolf on the right side of the panel in the last panel reminds me of a wolf character in a movie I watched recently, “Sheep & Wolves”.
