Now, to put this bad day behind us.
Now either Woo and Sandra are stunned, or Woo has a shock-induced memory loss and Sandra is going to have a nervous breakdown any moment now.
Status ailment? maybe he’s confused and frightened? cast “Hug” and all will be fine again.
Unless the hunter appear again.
Me thinks Larisa heard the FF victory music.
Of course, Larisa is totally excited.
Cloud does Special Attack!
Roq craps and runs away!
@ Aquinox:
So I wasn’t the only one thinking Woo would have memory loss after this.
Well, usually you can lose memory if you receive brain damage or incredible trauma, but in my opinion Woo is just supriced how Cloud save him like everyone else.
Does Cloud need to have his jeans custom tailored to fit his gigantic brass balls?
Now Roq….face your friends with a “defeat” mark…..that you got from a little BOY!!!..it’s ok Roq….It’s Cloud after all….
Passerby wrote:
wtf????
Are youOK Sandra? Come on, 1,2 3, *huge sigh of relief.* We’ll do it with you.
I’m sorry, but that face Woo is making…
So the wolf responded to the threats from the 12 year old….
Why did it not eat his face, being a wolf and all? What was cloud goign to do with a pocket knife, cut the snouth off? Through bone? One quick wiggle and a snap, and the hand with the knife would be in the thing’s stomach. Well, he’s no longer the evil one. He’s the corwardly one.
Incidentally Sandra’s just as shocked Cloud’s throat wasn’t torn out as I am. I love the expression.
That is a legitimate question, is Woo okay?
@ Nick/Tyrong:
Cloud just wall-kicked off a tree and landed on a running wolf. I’m sure he’s both smart and skilled enough to do what wolves do when they want to kill – go for the jugular.
From the position his arm was in in the last strip, he could have almost certainly done exactly that.
Phew! To be honest, I was half-expecting Cloud to get his face ripped off.
On another note…
If you hurt Woo one more time, I will bury you alive.
Just sayin’.
@ Audioworm: If you manage to dig with nothing more than a pocket knife, I will cheer like Larissa here
From the look on her face, I think Sandra half-expected Cloud to get his face ripped off, too.
(Then again, that’s pretty much what I’d look like if someone went FRICKIN’ NINJA ALL OVER A WOLF right in front of me, too)
Seriously, I was expecting some turnaround here, and not a wolf running away.
But I feel that isn’t the last time we saw Roq and the others. Not to mention the Hunter and//or Harvey.
Happy 4th of July!
This isn’t how I thought this panel would turn out.
Oh well, the 4th of July party didn’t turn out as planned either.
We had a party at a friends cabin along the Mississippi River, like we do every year, and at the end of the day at sun down we light off a stockpile of fireworks.
This time around we had quite a few people there, around 50 or so, and everything was great and the fireworks were going without a hitch.
But then, something happened. One of the fireworks tipped over and started to launch towards us, I was at the front, and one of them landed right by my feet but fortunately it was one of those that didn’t explode. They landed everywhere and were exploding under peoples feet, it was like a Chinese Fire Drill.
Luckily, it was the last of the fireworks that shot off and only one person was hurt, with only slight burns on her knees.
It was a great party otherwise, and I hope that me and everyone else has a safe and happy 4th of July!
@ WolfieMario:
Still, a quick snap and Cloud’s done. I still bet on the wolf. Besides, why go for the jugular when there’s a hand right there? You’d be surprised at ho smart a wolf is. Struggle, get a small cut because he’s a wolf and thus faster than a 12 year old, and chew 12 year old’s face off.
What I love is Sanda’s expression. She agrees with me. That should not have happened. He he he.
wolf vs. cloud.
cloud wins again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WITHOUT THE EXPLANTION MARKS I CAN’T TELL YOU ARE EXICTED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@ Nick/Tyrong:
He did have the knife at the wolf’s throat and if it is like every Swiss Army Knife I’ve ever had it is razor sharp surgical steel. I once knew a Taiwanese Marine who’d been trained to fight guard dogs (among other things) with just a knife tell me that Dobermans were easy to kill because their skin was so thin. One of the way animals assert dominance is by throat biting (usually with little to no penetration). The way they show submission is to roll on their backs and bare their throat. Watch kittens or puppies at play and you will see these behaviors.
Looking at Woo’s face makes me think his is as surpised as sandra. *suddenly breathes in beuase I firgured out something big* Woo so shocked he’s probley going to talk. hell probely ask a oud if what he saw just happen realy happened and then Larisa and Cloud’s heads will slow turn towars Woo. and then apon realising what just happened they will both look at Sandra acussingly and then yell at her lying about why the hunter said he could talk.
I think sandra’s face is more of a “oh wow, my boyfriend just did that, didn’t he?” kind of shock than anything else.
I have this very worrisome notion that the voice-box that lets Woo talk got broken…
I just keep seeing something from my own childhood, when I did something that was awesome, but scary stupid in front of my mom.
“OMGOMGOMG!!! ARE YOU OKAY?”
“Yeah, no big.”
“DON’T EVER SCARE ME LIKE THAT AGAIN OR I WILL KILL YOU!!” (each word accompanied by a hit)
Yeah, I see that happening with poor Cloud and Woo.
Panic panic panic panic PANIC!
He doesn’t look too bad to me.

Remember that we have pheromones that accompany our emotions (maybe even our thoughts). What the wolf would have noticed that Cloud was:
a) calm, determined and confident (possibly anger)
and, more importantly,
b) not afraid.
Furthermore, Cloud caught the wolf whilst the wolf was charging and the wolf didn’t have time to respond to Cloud before he had the knife at him.
Well, at least Roq is OK. I’m prolly gonna get like a -200 rating for this, but I have to admit, a small part of me wanted to see Cloud get eaten… Sorry, but it’s just so much fun cheering for the bad guy sometimes. As a kid, I always cheered wildly on those rare occasions when Tom got the best of Jerry! >:)
@ Deko:
He got that scratch over his eye from Woo, not Cloud.
Um… Does the ads pop up whenever you update cuz I think it does, Does it?
@ Nick/Tyrong:
The comic exists on a premise that there are animals that posess reasoning skills. If you can be reasoned with, you can be influenced through gut-wrenching fear much more easily than a typical wild animal. Cloud, within the span of a few heartbeats, performed an acrobatic feat that stunned onlookers to set up an arial tackle against an opponent of slighly smaller size and mass that would leave it dazed or possibly suffering a concussion. By the time the wolf – which possesses human levels of understanding – gathers it’s senses and takes stock of the situation it is pinned, has it’s mouth held forcibly closed depriving it of it’s main weapons, (which for many animals is an unexpectedly easy feat,) and is staring into the sharp blade of somebody whispering deadly threats in it’s sensitive ears without a trace of fear or hesitation. Also, with the abandonment of the pack Roq is clearly outnumbered which is not desirable for a wolf. Tactically speaking the clever animal is at a severe disadvantage and is aware of it, naturally prioritizing survival. It is a situation known to humans as being hopelessly screwed and knowing when to fold.
I agree with the last statement, and i really hope for no more ill suprises like the hunter, turning up, all i want to see in the next pannel is Sandra giveing woo a big hug, and then the 4 of them walking away 🙂
Wolfen wrote:
that’s not the mark I’m talking about Wolfen, it’s one more personal, like…”dude…your pride was destroyed by a kid”
Since Roq, before the fight was like, “Run away?? wtf.??? I’m Roq…I’m not going anywhere!! GAME ON!!!!!”
C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!
hopes woo didn’t catch rabies from it
To answer Cloud’s question,
“He will be if Sandra grabs him NOW, before the hunter shows up…”
I can’t help but wonder what Woo’s thinking right now (other than the obvious “I’m….Alive?).
@ Blitz:
And I’d be the one cheering like Larisa.
@ Nick/Tyrong:
Well, considering he just got tackled/sideswiped/jump-attacked out of nowhere, I’d be frieghtened too. Also, its cloud. Who wouldn’t be scared?
Oh great. Sandra’s inferiority complex is about to kick in again, big time.
“Holy S…My boyfriend is amazing…What am I going to do? Someone like that can’t possibly like someone like me…” “Is Woo ok?” *Sandra’s mind breaks*
Woo’s about to faint, and either need to be carried back, or will be captured and won’t be able to get out until he wakes up at a crucial moment.
My first thought was “Sandra, you already knew your boy-toy was a Physical God/RPG Character. GET OVER IT!” …but then I realized that she might be reacting to the fact that Cloud just OHKOed a Boss Fight. Maybe she didn’t know just how over leveled the lad really is?
musicssound wrote:
She might still be at the “big fangs charging at Cloud” stage? People don’t realise it but fear tends to carry on a while after the situation has subsided.
@ Gamesman:
Um, no, the knife wasn;t anwhere near the throat. It was above the snout.
And Passerby, it’s still an Alpha male wolf. Human reasoning or not, it’s still a wolf vs a 12 year old. “Oh no, this human means bussiness! Wait…. I can just jerk my head quickly, getting out of the little boy’s grip, likely recieving not much more than a small cut from that large claw there (the knife) and ‘ll have a human flavouredmeal. COOL!”
Next time we see Cloud is in his casket.
@ Nick/Tyrong:
Would take out his other eye 😉
anyone else think sandra and woo are staring at the hunter? you wolf reaction people would be happy to see that too most likely, as the big bad roq probobly would want to high tail it from a rifle while held down…
Nick/Tyrong wrote:
I said Cloud is both smart and skilled enough to go for the jugular. I was just drawing a comparison, because, ironically, wolves normally do that.
Getting slashed in the jugular is not a “small cut”. Even if it isn’t immediate death, it’s a really fast death. The actual death may take up to around a minute, but that doesn’t mean Roq can do much in the meantime. Considering blood pressure loss during blood donations has made people go unconscious, I’m guessing Roq would faint if he tried any sudden movements with a cut jugular (which is a far faster loss in pressure than any blood donation). Not to mention the pain and confusion – I somehow doubt he’d manage to more than scratch Cloud before falling unconscious and dying shortly thereafter.
The real reason neither my proposed situation nor your proposed situation happened is because massive amounts of blood spurting from a wolf’s neck or children getting their faces devoured would have no place in a (generally suitable for most audiences) comic like Sandra and Woo :p
Also, as Passerby said, Roq realized his life was in danger, which is why he escaped, rather than trying to harm Cloud and risking death in the process.
@ Burtan Tae:
Actually I hadn’t considered that, and yeah, knife’s kind of close, there…..
@WolfieMario
Sorry, but Burtan Tae’s argument’s better, mostly because the knife wasn’t anywhere near the wolf’s neck. And yeah, I know he can’t actually have the wolf kill all the kids. It’s just that it seems like o of those situations where if you don;t turn your brain off an accept the big coincidences, like the wolf running away from the 12 year old, the story’s backed into a corner and kind of needs to cheat to get out of. But again, I hadn’t considered the eye.
