The current story arc started with this strip: a.r.t.I.
- Larisa: Seriously, can’t you draw a pretty picture for once?
- Ivan: No. The demons in my head won’t let me.
- Larisa: Your demons suck! Mine are much better! They drive me to draw sunsets, flowers and pretty stuff like that.
- Ivan: My demons pay the bills.
- Larisa: Touché.

Larisa draws sunsets, flowers and pretty stuff like that… wait, wat?!?
Since when does Larisa have CONSTRUCTIVE demons? Unless she burns those sunsets and flowers afterwards, she’s been keeping secrets from us.
Yes, they drive you to draw those things, L.
But do you actually draw them? Or do you just draw them on fire?
Touche indeed.
Life’s a … (you know the rest)
If you wanna eat, you need to make your demons work the way you need, and not the way they want.
Sunsets? Flowers? Pretty stuff? Who is this person and what did you do with Larisa? Next she’ll be wearing a MLP t-shirt! Say it isn’t so!
Oh, so he’s possessed instead of depressed.
Either way, he got problems. D:
Larisa’s demons would burn the bills if anyone let them. Shows them.
Demons: Minions of Lucifer, bringers of torment and suffering. They also know how to balance a budget.
Who knew?
“Never argue with results,” as my grandfather used to say.
@ Petah-Petah: Bad pun! Bad pun! No dessert for you!
hmm…knowing what we do of larisa, it would only make sense if her demons would make her draw pretty sunsets…:,
The Sun is the largest ball of fire within a 200 million kilometer radius from us. Don’t see why Larisa wouldn’t draw it setting down upon a field of flammable flowers.
I can’t help but wonder how good her art is. Perhaps we might see some of it in the future I hope. It would add some more depth to her.
Pretty sure Larissa’s only inner demon is Ifrit.
Who wouldn’t wt to have demons that pays your bills? Oh and btw, it is normal for Larisa to draw pretty stuff anyway. She burns it afterwards for the effect of “Burning Sunset and Flowers On Fire”
@ Wolfen:
Win comment is win.
Wolfen: “Can’t let you draw that, Demon Fox!”
Ivan’s personality is starting to explain Larissa’s a bit. I hope we see more of him (for some reason he looks familiar). At least he seems to know how to handle her! I’m still having trouble thinking of her drawing pretty things but I guess she has a soft side… either that, or her definition of “pretty” isn’t what people would expect it to be.
“Shut up. At least the bunnies are on fire!”
@ Argondr (guest):
@ Blitz:
The flowers and stuff are burning in the picture.
looks quite impressive actually
weird. the only inner demons I know wear fancy white masks…
(I wonder who’s getting this one)
Your demons also tell you to burn the world Larisa so I guess you’re on different levels of demonology. XD
@ Wolfen:
Personally I would’ve said Fafnir.
lol his demons pay the bills then mine buy pizza
The imagination is tied to how we been raised and were we sit on society. A basic explanation for larisa is somwhat of a rebellious atittude to her father´s style and a way to express some feelings that can get out other way (If we consider Larisa´s life have more fire than flowers).
Besides in her Caothic Neutral ideology the unexpected is to be expected, of course I dont think she “thinks” that way (as rational thinking is not part of her). Also experimentation in art is product of reflexion, a simple pretty picture has a lot less “philosophycal reflexion”, in it simplicity is extrictly caothic (example: Punk).
Is always to be remembered that the character of Larissa is tied to her use of insuline, her family (and her conection with Russian Heritage), her “comodity” (they dont suffer too much to pays the bills and Larissa has enough money to buy her set for painting), her rebelious attitude and her relationship with her friends.
She doesnt care for other people views, as long as she herself feels fine and see no harm. The “slut” arc for example. Her paintings dont have to be coherent with her, but just give her pleassure. Her painting would also be liberated of the modern and ilustrated concept of art (s XVIII), so she gives not a crap about if her paintings can be considered as ART or as simple paintings.
Is complex but pretty simple: she just paints what she feels like to paint/ paints what she wants.
To just paint flames and destruction will not fit in her ideology, is what the others expect of her.
Heheh she Would view painting something like that the work of demons.
I like the eye-roll as Larisa is waving her arms around. I think he’s heard similar arguments before. Children can often be quite repetitive and (especially in Larisa’s case) unable to see the validity of other points of view. Also bet the flowers and sunsets she paints are a riot of clashing colors with red a major factor,
@ Wolfen:
SOmehow, I do not think Larisa’s demon is a Final Fantasy sumon. xD If it was, her demon would obviously be Bahamut Zero.
@ gerardo tejada:
TLDR.
All hail the demons.
Oh larisas got a fire demon who likes pretty flowers?
… Or it justs likes the sunset cuz its a ball of fire.
Well played good sir
No, Larisa. I know it’s confusing since they both have wings, but those are angels, not demons.
i expect a lot of things, but i didn’t expect larisa to draw sunsets, flowers and will you in the near picture let us see larisa’s painting? if you could it would be very much appreciated.
Wait i feel so wrong….
Demons that pay bills, a normally destructive and morally questionable female individual who suddenly takes interest in finer arts, a young man named after one of the most kickass video game characters of all time, and to top it off another girl who has a intelligent talking raccoon as a best friend, and before mentioned people as friend/boyfriend who go on adventures that include acts that make people question their sanity as well as breaking down stereotypes in every day life. And making it all entertaining reading to boot.
I am very satisfied, yes indeed.
@ Blitz:
Like we don’t know that already!
@ Gamesman:
Larisa wearing a MLP t-shirt…Most likely RD’s cutie mark on a black background. Heh, it might even happen, if Novil’s convinced Powree yet. I could actually see Larisa enjoying the show, even so. Chaos seems to like it, in general. The real question is who her favorite character would be. Not Twilight, too rational, not Rarity, just…no, Not Applejack, too caring of family, not Fluttershy, Well, maybe for sheer unexpectedness. Pinkie is Chaotic Good alignment, unlike Larisa’s solid Chaotic Neutral, which is the only reason I think Rainbow Dash would win. Competitive hilarity to the max.
And sorry to the non-bronies out there who wanted to read all the comments for some reason.
Ah, the life of a professional artist.
Never getting to draw what you really want to draw, because you want to eat.
@ musicssound:
Actually I used MLP to indicate the exact opposite of her character. I am far from being a “Bronie” more like the grandpa in the commercial that say’s “That’s so cute it’s stupid!”.
and I tought larissa’s demons burn everything…
Larisa’s demons make her do amusingly random things. And fire. FIRE! But, yeah, he’s got a point.
Found your comic this evening, read it all the way from the beginning. Really enjoy it.
Wait… why does Larisa call her dad by his name?
@ Bucc-i:
Because she’s got a very modern/progressive family?
It makes me think of the Mary Tyler Moore show…
MARY: Uh, do you always call your mother Phyllis?
BESS: It’s her name!
(its been a while since i watched it. It had something to do with these parenting books her parents were insisting on raising her by… maybe Larissa’s parents are the same way? Or maybe she’s just going through a phase. Some kids do it to seem more adult.)
Wait… Larisa likes to burn things, and her demons like sunsets and flowers…
Does this mean Larisa’s Demons are her good side?
Wow these comics are awsum I just started reading them a few days ago and I started from the first one. ^_^
I have a feeling that another one with woo and his GF is not far away.
Larisa has a very good grasp on lifes realities, such as what pays the bills, doesn’t she?
Gamesman wrote:
Well, even at the time you wrote this, I could see her possibly being a fan of the rule of Nightmare Moon and/or wearing a “Cupcakes” shirt… and even canonical Pinkie Pie could be a character that would be up her alley.
… of course not that Discord has debuted… yeah, no question, she would totally wear a Discord t-shirt if someone gave it to her.
@ DracoDei:
“now that”
ooooooh burned
*Snickers*
Sorry, I think modern art, I think demons, and my mind conjures up Wesley Willis.
