Credit for the initial idea to use a ponyfied version of Mr. Smith’s dialog during his final confrontation with Neo goes to an anonymous poster on an imageboard.
- Mr. Smith: Why, Ms. Sparkle? Why do you do it? Why get up? Why keep helping your friends? Do you believe you’re getting something in return? More than a thank-you? Can you tell me what it is? Do you even know? Is it apple pie? Or a lovely dress? Could it be for good weather?
- Mr. Smith: Illusions, Ms. Sparkle, temporary constructs of a feeble pony intellect trying desperately to justify an existence that is without sadness or despair. You must be able to see it, Ms. Sparkle. You must know it by now. You can’t win. It’s pointless to keep helping your friends. Why, Ms. Sparkle, why? Why do you persist?
- Twilight Sparkle: …Because friendship is magic!
- Mr. Smith: ARGH!
- Yuna: Can I play with the ponies too?
- Ye Thuza: No. Maybe when you’re older.

Whoa-ho! I totally remember that exact dialogue WAY back at the beginning of last year when you were introducing Friendship is Magic in the news section. I also remember thinking you were a total nutjob back then, but that’s all changed now.
And somebody called Ye Thuza and David a couple strips ago. Don’t remember who it was exactly, but props to you! I don’t think this strip could’ve ended with a better set of characters.
Yaaaaaaaay! I thought it was Sandra playing this whole time, but what a nice surprise to see that it was Cloud’s parents! The last panel is hilarious :D.
I think that you are going to have to demonstrate an appropriate level of mature accomplishment, Yuna. Go on Halo 3, or something like that, and practice rocket jumping. Once you’re able to propel an armoured player avatar onto an inaccessible platform using the blast from his own explosive ordnanace, you might be ready to snatch Twilight Sparkle away from certain doom with a hook-equipped pegasus on a rod. Emphasis on “might”.
And to the complainers out there, at least they didn’t venture too far into Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions territory…

(A hand falls on his shoulder, pulls him around.)

Hehe, I actually did call it but someone else did as well, I forgot whom and am too lazy to check. I’ll be honest though, this recent arc was not for me I’m afraid, but I truly hope that you MLP fans out there enjoyed this one, even if I didn’t. 😉

The parents reveal wasn’t all that funny (a bit cliched), but the pony/agent dialog is comedy gold.
