[0377] Serious Talk

- Ivan: Larisa will be ready in a few minutes.
- Landon: Cool.
- Ivan: If you want to date my daughter, there are a few things you ought to know!
- Landon: Okay.
- Ivan: When she shows you a picture she has drawn, take your time and give a detailed critique; she hates blind praise. Don’t buy her a movie or stuff like that for birthday, buy her paintbrushes or good paint. And she loves walking through the park when the daffodils are in bloom.
- Landon: Wow, thanks for the tips.
- Ivan: Better you as her boyfriend than some thug.
Thats some serious business
The lesser of two evils.
I wasn’t expecting actual relationship tips lol
I love Ivan’s reason why he’s doing this.
Ooh! I like where this is going! 😀
@ Landbark:
XD Dude that’s just hilarious.
Ivan: Look boy, I’m not going to be like other parents who worried about their daughters well being. I won’t hang you upside down and burn you to ashes, Larissa can do that to you just fine. Always wear a good fireproof jacket when you go out with her, just in case you need to put down a fire. What? why do you looking at me like that? it’s a good advice. you.must.follow.that.advice. understood? and never ask her about what she’s doing with her belt, she will tell you when the time is ready. If you’re short in cash and you can only take her to a fast food joint make sure it’s Burger King, she love well done chargrilled burgers. Never show her that Carrie movie, or you will be sorry. Never take her to the circus, I regret it when she saw the flame swallower for the first time. Always plan your trip ahead of the time. Make sure you avoid stores that incorporate blowtorch. Make giant bonfire on the beach for her, just make sure you dispose the oil and the matches….
Landon: Uh… Mr Ivan….
Ivan: Okay, I know it’s getting a little bit too long, so here a book called “How to date my daughter Larissa” for you. Free. Just make sure you read and remember the important parts.
Landon: Um…. okay….
Larisa’s parents sure know how to pull the strings. Maybe she’s not really out of control. Her folks just let her think that she is.
Uh…is this a “D’awwww” moment, or not? I’m not sure…
That seems like the easiest girlfriend ever. Just some paintbrushes and paint as b-day gifts? Wish they were that simple for me.
I’m seriously liking Larissa’s father, Ivan. He’s mostly laid-back, he’s a great artist, he gives Landon useful advice, with good reasoning for it, and he’s a man who has his priorities straight.
Landon’s a pretty good pick for one’s daughter’s boyfriend, as such people go.
That’s the joke. ಠ_ಠ @ Alexander B:
haha, I liked this. Not everyone’s dad is out to scare the boyfriends. Plus, he’s totally realistic about the situation.
See, this is how it should be done. Applause for Ivan.
this is what having your priorities straight is all about.
So, we meet Larisa’s dad.
Landon thinks he’s gonna get the “gun talk”, and instead he gets pro tips. 😛
Then I realize we saw him before. Apparently he’s Larisa’s mom’s boyfriend, since SHE calls him Ivan.
Solid advice. (Is it just me or does Ivan look like Prof. Snape?)
… I thought Ivan was her brother since she addresses him by his name o.O
And what’s wrong with thugs? I happen to be a thug, and I know how to treat
bitchesthe ladies. Given em’ some of that Act Right, put on a lil’ 2Pac, and trip the lights fantastic!@ Kitch:
Larisa adresses both her parents by their given names.
As he invokes the invention of Larissa-summoning at the end.
Is it bad that I’m more interested in where this relationship would go instead of Sandra/Cloud?
There’s a little bit of tension here, because to me, you don’t know whether Larisa is being serious about this or she’s just using him. That’s way more fascinating than Sandra and Cloud, I think, because that relationship has no tension, not even much buildup to it. It’s boring.
Fatherhood Level: GOD LIKE!!!!!
Awww….
Wait, should I be hearing his words in a Russian accent as I read them, or not? Is it just me?
Who knew artists could be pragmatic men?
@ Deko:
OVER 9000!!!
Well. That is a damn good father.
@ Alexander B: Something tells me it isn’t actual relationship advice.
“I like what you did with this flower but–”
” ‘But’?!? Does that mean you don’t like how I paint?”
“Er, no no! I do! it’s just that…”
“I knew it! You hate my work!”
Larissa? Sticking to ONE guy?
Pshaaaaaw, imagine that.
@ Kitch:
When my buddy knew his daughter was bringing a new boyfriend home, they’d walk in to find him cleaning the tommy-gun in the living room. Really! (Nothing threatening; my buddy would be nice and friendly/casual. The (real)Thompson would just be a casual prop for that first meeting. :-))
@ Ry Rodrigo:
You say boring, I say a pleasant surprise, all you ever see any more is relationships with hoards of troubles. A nice, uncomplicated, happy relationship is a breath of fresh air to me.
Man, my first girlfriend’s dad actually did show me his gun collection. The point was well taken. That said, if I had a teenage daughter, Landon is exactly the guy I’d want her dating. For sure she is calling the shots.
all of this while Shadow is starving?
or is it implied that Woo gave him food from the pantry?
HA! I like Ivan~! XDDD
Ivan’s a pretty cool dude.
See, that is the kind of father I want to be some day.
@ Tarq:
Clearly, you’ve never bought “good” paints before.
I totally agree, all dads of daughters should invest heavily into plain guys.
@ Disco:
Maybe Ivan’s hoping Landon will be kind of a steadying influence on Larisa? 🙂
does anyone else notice ivan has elf ears?
@ Tarcival:
Most parents have their priority straight. Their daughters just bring home jerkish thugs who should be left deep in a swamp somewhere with an anticoagulant-laced laceration on their leg.
Ivan is AWESOME. Way to go with useful tips for Larisa!
For a comic called Sandra and Woo, Woo is barely in it…
Remember, he knows Larisa will be dead soon – with that in mind it’s not surprising that he’s going to let her live what life she has.
Ha! Nice! I’d totally support their relationship too!
seems the father agrees with my previous statement

Nice Joker reference there.
@ Tarq:
That is NOT easy!
