The life of a comic author
Katie Tiedrich of Awkward Zombie nails one of the worst parts of being a comic artist/writer apart from having to deal with webserver failures:
But I think even worse than the pictured example or a just plain wrong “correction”, is a correction which might be 5% more accurate, but which would also completely ruin the joke. Fortunately, only a tiny fraction of our readers are as rude as StrawGuy2009 when they complain about something in the comment section.
PS: Tom Nook & Co. are raccoon dogs, not raccoons! So Katie should have called them “raccoon dog guys”! I wish the author of these comics actually knew what she was talking about or cared about zoology!
Can’t really help with the characterisation thing… perhaps if Katerina was forcing the Abel sisters to act out of character by aggressively soliciting kickbacks and coercing them into accepting her referrals… I don’t know – I’d have to read the webcomic and so on.
The panel composition thing can be worked around much more easily. No need to monkey with the layout of the world when the artist can just use the power of cutaways and transparent walls. Moving an adjoining building away in order to create an alley might be exceeding artistic license, but nobody can prevent an artist from placing a frame’s viewpoint inside that adjoining building and allowing it to see through the walls in some fashion!
Finally, if this was just a fun example, and not meant to be subjected to such detailed examination, then- LOOK! BEHIND YOU! It’s a giant self-inflatable hippo! I casually left it there while you were listening to me pontificate! *runs away* >:=)>
Well I know a bunch of animals, and know about the raccoon dog’s name, but had never actually seen an image of one, and so I always thought Nook was some type of stylized raccoon.
We all have finite knowledge in some ways here ^-^
you probably knowthis already but just to be sure… you do know she made up strawguy2009 for the comic right? she stated herself that nobody actually bothers her about things like that lol
Gaa! I read this comic yesterday (by following this link). Then, today, I had this experience FOR THE FIRST TIME! (Apparently I don’t draw My Little Pony accurately enough or something.)
Of course, I’m left with one conclusion: You summoned this on me somehow! If I hadn’t read that comic, I might have gone un-trolled forever. Wile E. Coyote should never look down, and I should never think about trolls.
Aww yeah! I didn’t know the writers read Awkward Zombie! I actually found S&W from an ad on her site. I think it was the one where Larissa asks for a lick
The English translation of Animal Crossing calls the Nook family raccoons. Blame the NoA Treehouse for that, not Katie 😛
