- Larisa: Hey, Zoey, may I set fire to your rare and valuable issue of… …Seventeen?
- Zoey: Mhmm.
- Larisa: I may?! Wow, thanks. I owe you one!
- Larisa: Are you… crying?
|
The flames of ignited magazine can not damp Zoey’s tears, I’m afraid.
finnaly this girl has her own story! love this comic!
You know it’s bad when Larissa is showing empathy to someone she typically torments. Sometimes with a blender.
Larisa: …and, for the record, I really wasn’t expecting you to say that – I was thinking more along the lines of a snippy refusal and a panicked grab at your m- are you… crying?
Zoey: Mhmm… *sob*
Larisa: (eyes and grin widening) I am going to have to capture this image for posterity. This is so pathetic! (materialises sketchpad and 2B pencil) I mean, the pathos is indescribably exquisite! I don’t know if I can do it justice, I really don’t… (grin fades away as she concentrates on her sketching)
The following week, Larisa’s latest painting You Couldn’t Understand My Heart, So You Broke It goes on display in pride of place.
Michelle: (staring at painting) Wow, she really looks heartbroken! Who’d have thought crazy Larisa could even understand that sort of thing. Ah, but it’s painted it to look like Zoey – cheap shot there. I’ll have to tell her when I see her. …although I haven’t seen her since….. oh…….. (rereads title) oh god…….
Larisa: (sketching fast) …aaaand hold that pose a little longer, and I’ll make a reply portrait to Zoey…
Zoey seems nice, though perhaps she should not have acted solely on her feelings and thought this through…
A “No” always seem worse when you expect something bigger
but…..she looks so cute now….
Pyromania just ain’t no fun if they give you permission.
Besides, those high-clay-content glossy pages never give you as brisk a burn as do telephone books and newsprint.
Why hasn’t Larissa discovered by this time the joys of oxidizing agents and fuel-air explosives?
Landon + Larisa + Michelle?
I dont think Landon would mind all that much…
Yes, she is crying. Now put out that fire and talk to her nicely for once.
@ Kracka:
Unlikely though. Alternatively they could change their relationships as Larisa + Zoey and Landon + Michelle… long shot.

Likely she has, but doesn’t have permission to use them.
And with this comic, I get to say “Called it!” I called it didn’t I? I totally called it. 🙂
Zoey is amazingly and heartbreakingly drawn in the last panel.
Larisa to the rescue! 😀
I’m not really sure if this will end well, but hey maybe it will and I’ll chuckle warmly when I reread that “special “friend” of Larisa ” part of her Character description.
While Larisa is definitely into boys, she has kissed Sandra before. I think she’s probably bicurious. Now shipping Landon/Larissa/Zoe.
I think Novil reminds us here of something we’ve been somewhat forgetting: Larisa isn’t *truly* a mean person.
Larisa: Are you… crying?
Zoey: N…NO! *Sniff* I’m just trying out the new method of removing toxins from my eyes in order to make them prettier. You can read about it on page 10 in the magazine you’re burn- And there it’s gone.
Larisa: Damn. I can’t tell if you’re lying or telling the truth. I mean…It’s SEVENTEEN!
Seriously though, it’s not fair for me to make that joke since I what the magazine is actually like. Just assuming it’s the usual teenage junk.
Poor Zoey! She looks so sad in the last panel! 🙁 I still think Larisa might lend some support, but I’m still not shipping them. I’m on the Landom team.
*since I have no idea what the magazine is actually like.*
Sometimes, your enemies can be great friends in the moment u.u
This transitioned from killing evil hearts into a serious arc about rejection.
i bet she got the terrible advice to kiss her best friend in seventeen. terrible in that she should have found out if her friend was a homophobe, or maybe liked her back, before getting a kiss.
@ Samazeuilh:
You’re right; Larisa does look honestly concerned in that last panel. Good for you, Larisa!
aww she DOES have a conscience!
Larissa should have known something was wrong the moment Zoey let her set things on fire. NO ONE lets Larissa set things on fire when they are in a calm rational mind.
Methinks Larissa has new target as it’s no fun to mess with someone who’s sad. and as soon as she’s feelings better status quo will be restored.
@ norman728: as soon as she’s feelings better status quo will be restored.
It’s been carefully and consistently established that Larisa is not only *not* truly mean, but on the inside she’s kind, caring, generous person.
Right from the start (it’s appropriate to say “it’s canon”) she was mean to Zoey not out of spite, but out of her low tolerance for jerks and injustice in general (and according to Sandra Zoey really was a jerk). She felt that messing with Zoey was just, a right thing to do.
So even if Zoey goes back to her usual (offscreen) “arrogant bitch” routine, Larisa would be aware of her insecurity now. And punishing someone – who’s broken and insecure enough to cry in public – for feigned arrogance would be well out of character.
She still might mess with her a little, though, but not in a mean way, like she does with her friends.
@ Constantine:
I still think Larisa is trans, look back when she took the pills.
Give her a hug Larisa but make certain that Seventeen magazine stays on fire. Some things just need to burn.
And then Larisa broke the heart of the nerdy kid to become a lesbian for her friend. NICE GOING LARISA YOU JUST HAD TO BREAK THE HEART OF THE ONE GUY WHO COULD PROBABLY NEVER AGAIN GET A GIRLFRIEND LIKE YOU.
Interesting. This development might actually have some merit.
Recent events have made me wonder whether Zoey’s nastiness towards Sandra and Larisa may not have owed to her own feelings of unfulfillment with her friendship with her crush, coupled with envy with the relative ease and comfort with which Sandra and Larisa get along with each other.
On a sidenote, I don’t think Michelle is a good match for Zoey, even if she were receptive to a romantic relationship. Her recent manner of speech is, “like”, moronic…
I know this may come off as heartless, but the Zoey really only has herself to blame for current situation.
hits you right in the heart there…
Some people start to speculate Larissa x Zoey. I disagree. I mean Larissa doesn’t want to get hurt so she obviously doesn’t want to hurt Landon back (Since a lot of boys dump Larissa before). I say Zoey going to find someone else who can accept her and there will be a new friendship between Larissa and Zoey.
@ Just a Guy:
I’m pretty sure Larissa’s still too young to be doing gender reassignment, much less to have completed it and being on hormones. I suspect the pills are for some chronic illness she doesn’t want others to know she has.
“Hey, Zoey, I know what’ll take your mind off of things – setting fire to your hair!”
Today Larissa will discover Zoey is actually a human being…
The shock of her life.
@ Kracka:
Pretty sure you mean Landon, Larissa and Zoey, right? Michelle’s the rejecting one.
I would really like to know whether Zoey was planned to be homesexual from the beginning, like she was such a jerk because of her insecurities concerning her gender and sexuality, or whether it was just an I dea that came like within the last year or so…
Potential for an uncontrolled blaze if they get lost in converstion. ‘Cause of fire?’ ‘Page 42’
C’mon, Larissa, don’t be petty towards her, just this once. Build a bridge, not a wall. Or at least be funny about it if you are petty.
Hmm lets see, let my bring up my comment from the 17th *clears throat*
Its an interesting thing to see, one who has never faced a situation where they cant have what they want. This can either have a positive influence on her, or a negative. Not sure why, but I get the impression that a certian pyro in the cast is going to be a factor in this, either having seen it or coming across Zoey breaking down, she just seems to get pulled into those situations a lot.

Man I am good 😉

Well… I doubt that will impres the superior next step of human evolution… the Homo Larisas… not to mention after it has peaked as photographer with “cavemen” picutre.
@ altalemur:
ok. I have a problem with calling someone who doesn’t want a homosexual relationship a homophobe. it’s an extreme accusation designed to force someone to agree with you. not wanting to be in a homosexual relationship does not mean you hate homosexuals. or doesn’t someone’s personal preference mean anything anymore?
@ fyrloche:
I don’t think Melissa’s sexual preference is the issue so much as the “really gay lesbos” comment.
I get the feeling that this story arc is going to be AMAZING
Definitely a song that would suit Zoey’s feelings..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNt6XuLhhTc
I just want to say, I love how there is a “setting things on fire” tag that is separate from the “larisa” tag.
That, and I am honestly feeling bad for Zoey right now. Rejection always sucks. The good news is that life will get better.
Dang, I can’t believe how touching you make this and it hasn’t gone political in the comments. That itself is an acheivement
@ Just a Guy:
Wow! Larisa being trans is one explanation for the pills I hadn’t thought of.
@ Pencil Tornado:
She didn’t just take a pill but also something up the nose.
My trans friend takes the same.
Age maybe a factor but I don’t know the rules about that
