- Larisa: Hey, Zoey, may I set fire to your rare and valuable issue of… …Seventeen?
- Zoey: Mhmm.
- Larisa: I may?! Wow, thanks. I owe you one!
- Larisa: Are you… crying?
|
@ Just a Guy:
@ Pencil Tornado:
Hm, this could very well explain the scene in strip 126. From what I could find on google, a Antiandrogen-therapy might not just come with pills, but possibly also a nasal spray too. So I guess it isn’t too far out there…
…
But don’t quote me on this. I’m not sure about the facts.
@ Larisa being trans:
It seems plausible, but I do think that a lot of Larisa’s behavior makes a lot of sense for someone who knows that they’re on a clock, so I tend to favor the “serious disease” theory. Not that Larisa needs a reason for being her lovable terrifying self.
Calling it now: Larisa and Zoey have a heartwarming discussion which makes Zoey feel better… until they notice that the magazine is still on fire, and it sets off the fire alarm or something.
Awww… I llove this comic. All the stories and characters are so good
yeah I messed up, I meant Zoey. my bad
I hoop this end well.
…so, to everybody saying that Zoey’s a pompous jerk who deserved to be pranked by Larisa.
…..find it funny now?
Here’s your proof that Larisa is a bully to Zoey. Zoey has done absolutely -nothing- to her at all in the leadup to this, and Larisa takes it upon herself to rummage through her personal belongings, take her favorite magazine, and set fire to it just to see Zoey’s reaction. And this is all -before- she notices Zoey is crying.
I was expecting Sandra to talk too her, eeeh let’s see how this turns out
I know what you can do for Halloween – Does the name “Sephiroph” AKA Cloud’s alter ego mean anything to you? I personally think that Cloud should dress up as Sephiroph for the day just as a pun

@ Mr_Nabby:
Ya my friend both a spray and a pill.
And she likes to burn things too……. My feeling for one.
Larisa, don’t you think you owe her more than just one? I think you owe her seventeen.
And for once, Larissa’s coming to show compassion towards Zoey (I hope)
@ Tucci78:
Oh my god no no NO. Don’t give the girl any ideas!
Larissa, as a sympathetic ear, and shoulder to lean on. It’s just crazy enough to work.
This one hits me hard. I realized I was a lesbian when I fell in love with one of my friends. I didn’t act on it as Zoey did, but I’d find excuses to be close to her, hold her hand. But when a mutal (guy) friend of ours asked her out and they became a couple and I realized I could never have her. It hurt a lot. It hurt more than it hurt when I had broke up with either of my boyfriends.
And like Zoey, I was a girly girl. A kind of nerdy girly girl, but still not someone you’d expect to be gay. I was scared and I was hurting, both because I was in love with someone I couldn’t have and because I didn’t want to be gay. I didn’t have a problem with gays personally, but I knew the persecution they faced, and kids already teased me a lot, this would just give them MORE ammunition. I did have some support from friends, and my parents, which is how I made it through. It looks like Larissa’s about to be Zoey’s shoulder to cry on (assuming she tells Larissa why she’s upset) and I’m pretty sure Larissa will be supportive. At least, I hope so. I really feel for Zoey right now and want her storyline to have a happy ending.
Also, random fun fact, one of my first girlfriends was named Zoey.
I love those stories that show the softer side of antagonists, especially since this is with middle schoolers. Not until you are in high school is anybody purely evil
@ Greenwood Goat:
That seems so perfectly cruel without being cruel – I salute you.
First of all, @El Rodrigo: Larisa did not rummage through anything, she noticed a magazine lying on the ground and decided to mess with Zoey a little. She probably expected that Zoey would jump right up and try to take the magazine from her, and when Zoey did not just got distracted with the perspective of really setting it on fire for a second – and then almost immediately noticed that something’s wrong.
Probably she doesn’t do it with Sandra’s things, true. But it’s nowhere near as bad as you painted it.
Aaand at least we all know Larisa isn’t homophobic (I kissed a girl and I liked it, I hope her boyfriend doesn’t mind…). And Zoey is not in love with _her_ (I hope), that’s an advantage, too.
It looks like Larisa wants Zoey in just the right mood – pissed off but powerless to retaliate. Not sad, not crying – just mad. Not to say it isn’t bullying, but it’s an important line to cross.
@ Constantine:
Which is what I meant. They Both can learn something of each other. Whether this leads to a less antagonistic relationship remains to be seen.
Larisa: “Are you… crying? (bah, looks like burning her magazzines doesn’t upset her anymore)”
Zoey: *turns around* *more SNIFF*
Larisa: “(damn it’s not fun to watch her cry… oh I know what to do to make her really mad at me!)”
*Landon passes by playing cell games but he notices her, runs away and hides to watch them*
Larisa: *doesn’t notice him* “I’ll do what did with Sandra” *kisses Zoey in her mouth by surprise*
Zoey: “hm?!… hmm… hm!” *hugs Larisa and french-kisses her*
Larisa: “(eh?? I didn’t expect this, it was disgusting for Sandra!… ok that’s how you wanna play)”
*Landon takes pics from his cell* *Cloud is done with his laps and asks him what he’s doing…*
lol well I have been a lurker reading since the very first strips of S&W 5 years ago (concidentally, my b-day is October the 16th) but this arc made me post for the first time here ^^ so hi everyone!
@ El Rodrigo:
Larissa isn’t setting fire to the magizine because it’s zoeys, she’s setting it on fire because she’s a pyromaniac. She sets sandra and clouds stuff on fire too. She’s not a bully, she’s insane. @ El Rodrigo:

Unless you were I and was plotting genocide at age 12.
@ Raye J:
Though I have a heart of stone (literally) I have been moved by your touching tale. I wish you the best of fortune. Not that my wishes come true. Ever. But its the thought. And I understand the way you have to keep something secret from others so they won’t have more to make fun of you about. My entire life I’ve been bullied for I am more different than imaginable. And I made the mistake of letting myself depend on another human’s comfort and affection (‘course she broke my heart, but thats another story) but it is for some people pure bliss. Oh, good Olympus, I’ve up and rambled. Sorry. Though I have a little more… Never mind, I’ve blabbed enough. Good fortune to you and good luck with the romance.
@ Mr_Nabby:
It makes no sense to me that Larisa would be trans at her age.
I doubt she’s ever experienced pressure to conform to any gender roles, with a father who is an artist and a male friend who’s mother is a veteran soldier.
I’m sure that, if Larisa were born a boy, she would be happy to be a gay boy – until she gets older and realizes that the plumbing doesn’t feel right.
The end of the argument is that she’s too young for gender reassignment surgery.
Any thoughts from actual transgender people?
correction;
I’m sure that, if Larisa were a straight girl born into a boys body, she would be happy to be a gay boy – until she gets older and realizes that the plumbing doesn’t feel right.
And before anybody calls me ignorant, my opinion is based on Larisa’s character.
If she were asked to make a list of words to sum up her identity as a human being, I’m sure “girl” would be somewhere down the bottom, if it made the list at all.
@ Leon:
Kinda assumed Just a Guy meant that Larisa was born a hermafrodite, a person with both sexes, and have had corrective surgery and undergoes hormone therapy.
Still, I’m not sure if this will turn out to be the case, still leaning towards that she has an illness myself. But since we know so little about it, I’m open to other possibilities.
@ Mr_Nabby:
That could actually be really interesting. Especially if she likes boys but she also feels like she is a boy (she never dresses like a girl). How much of mind job would that be?
Larissa’s medication is insulin.
I just got completely caught up on the comic yaaaaaaaay! Such a wonderful comic.
Also… Poor Zoey… I feel like I’m not supposed to feel bad for her, but I do. I think we all do.
I do not like this sad almost-but-not-yuri. I mean, it’s great! But sad.
Eagle0600 wrote:
Read “Secrets” again. Sure, Larisa takes a shot of Insulin for her Diabetes, but she also takes some pills and nasal spray for a unspecified reason.
Because she keeps it a secret from Sandra and Cloud makes fans speculate if Larisa has some potentially terminal illness, and if that’s the reason she behaves the way she does- to live her life at it’s fullest. Her life philosophy is even “Life is now!”
Everyone has assumed the worst, so I’m glad that we got a new theory on this subject, so that it can shift from “Tragedy” to “Life is complicated”.
@ Mr_Nabby:
She has no problem telling people about having Diabetes.
If her parents are ok with her being trans then she can be on meds to make her female.
And no I dont mean she both, I mean she trans m2f.
Kids can be given the treatment, its rare but does happen.
….. As for her being horny and wanting guys alot……. So does my friend -_-
@ Leon:
The main cast are not the only people in her world. No matter who your friends are, peer pressure and societal pressure are still things.
@ Tucci78:
I disagree – it’s much more fun for me to revel in the burning without having to worry about repercussions for an unsanctioned fire.
Though you’re right, glossy pages do suck for burning; they’re almost as bad as pumpkins. >_<
@ Leon
Larissa does dress like a girl…sometimes. He has worn dresses and blouses before, but she prefers pants and trousers. No indication of transsexualism here.
@ The Watcher:
dumb teenager speak =/= homophobe either. also, it’s not altogether untrue, is it?
sidenote: why do people suddenly think Larissa’s trans? that’s a whole “Jenny” rabbithole, that is…
El Rodrigo wrote:
Nice theory, except for the part where she’s done the exact same thing to her best friend Sandra. As they say, some girls just want to watch the world burn – but at least this girl has the good manners to ask first.
