[0599] Question 3
└ posted on Thursday, 17 July 2014, by Novil
In the next strips we’ll see the reaction of Cloud’s mom to all of this…
- Cloud: Mrs. Cambridge, in question 3…
- Dorothy Cambridge: Yes?
- Cloud: … you gave Sandra two points and me only one although both answers are identical.
- Dorothy Cambridge: Similar, Cloud, not identical! It’s not only what you say, but also how you say it. Men finally have to understand this!
- Cloud: It’s a multiple-choice question.
- Dorothy Cambridge: Your point is…?
The more I see of her the more I want to slap the face off of her…..
Oh yes, we must see Ye Thuza’s response… the question is, will Mrs. Cambridge need an ambulance, or a Hearse?
I can only assume this arc is about what some people stupidly define as “feminism” ?
Burn the witch!
You’re just not even trying anymore.
@ dark ninja:
Poe’s law. It’s a satire of extremist feminism.
Cloud’s face in the last panel is priceless!
The sad thing is, I’ve had more than one teacher who was like this, back when I was in high school/jr. high. One of them actually pulled this exact crap, with identical answers being scored based on the tester’s genders, but the school administration did nothing when it was reported.
At long last we get to the two reasons why this story line was started: to see Cloud’s mom kick some serious butt… and for an excuse to draw Cloud’s face like that!
Cloud: … that there was literally no difference between our answers.
Cambridge: Are you implying that you copied Sandra’s work? Detention for you, boy!
Sandra: We don’t even sit next to each other!
Cambridge: Now, Sandra, you must never underestimate the lengths a boy will go to to look superior. They are a savage type, unwilling to admit their inferiority.
Sandra: But they aren’t infer—
Cambridge: Young lady, you must not let them force their insidious viewpoints on you!
Sandra: But Cloud—
Cambridge: Is no better than any other boy. Cloud, I will expect you back for detention again tomorrow.
Cloud: What did I do?
Cambridge: You admitted to cheating, and Sandra here has reported your attempts to repress her.
Cloud: But I didn’t—
Cambridge: Talking back to a teacher? I will see you on Monday as well.
Cloud: I’ll be quiet now…

Obviously, Sandra circled only the correct answer, while Cloud crossed out each incorrect answer as well as circling the correct answer.
(Did I overdo the comic extension? I think I overdid it.)
And here i thought this was satire 😀
The funny thing is, that I have knowledge of a teacher who was indeed like this, or at least as Dorothy is in this comic strip.
Friend of mine, he took a test, when the results came back, he compared his answers with a female student, most of their work was the same and the end results were nigh identical, however, he failed, and she passed with flying colors, despite having over 75% of the answers being the same.
I hope Ye Thuza shows this witch some of her favorite martial arts moves!!!
@ Renaissance:
Hey, did they share *only* her correct answers, or did they have a few of the same wrong answers as well?
Secondly, unless she scored a 95% or better it is possible to share 75% on the test and get a bad grade. (Providing the incorrect answers she had were among the shared 75%)
@ Miyto:
“Flying colors” implies 90% or above in the grade score, so yes she did pass with 90-05%
and yes it is entirely possible they did share some wrong answers
anyone else think Mrs. Cambridge is a PERFECT representation of Tumblr social justice? hilarious!!!!

I believe that is exactly what this entire arc is a parody of.
Waiting for the punchline comic to come.
@ Levin:
Ambulance first, hearse second. Depends if her mind is changed.
This reminds me of those “equality” bake sales where the item for sale is 75 cents for a female customer, and a dollar for a male customer.
I’m imagining that we shouldn’t have feminism. We should have egalitarianism. It’s all the equality of feminism but it extends to race, sexuality, religion, and everything that we shouldn’t judge people by. If you’re feminism but racist, it’s being a hypocrite.
I find your hate-on for feminism perplexing. I agree that feminism tends generate a lot of anti-male “all men are rapist” trash, but I don’t know how you came to point where you felt you should reject it. For one thing, feminism is just a mutant offspring of Marxist thought, but replacing Capitalism with “Patriarchy.” This can be seen in how the evils of both come up as intangible inequalities, but are never really manifest in theft or violence. However I’ve seen you reject Capitalism in these comics before and I don’t really know how you’ve come to this conclusion.
Honestly I’m confused, capitalism gave us the internet and communism/socialism gave us a +100 million dead. Even in the past 20 years the turn to more free market economics in of India and China have cut the rate of poverty in the world by half.
Feminism is a 50 year train wreak at this point so I guess it’s kinda obvious now a days. I’m guessing that feminism has personally effected you? This is understandable, because I went though the same thing when I was in my teens. The alienation you feel towards yourself for feeling like you innately are a violent rapist is quite harsh.
It just doesn’t seem to me that you have turned this disillusionment of feminism towards the seeking of truth in other spheres of your life. Personally I’ve been seeking truth of a while now and I’ve come to the conclusion that Atheism and Anarcho-Capitalism is the way to go (I’ve never really stopped and thus life has only gotten more interesting).
Just take the principles that you personalty ascribe to and universalize them to all systems in your life, such as the government, the family, the market, and religion. If you find murder or theft immoral and you don’t make any exceptions, you’ll end up having to reject many of your current beliefs. It will be comfortable as all sin, but you end up seeing things with a clarity that seems almost magical.
Best Wishes,
Kyle

Madam. My immediate instinct is to hang you. But I know of know tree whose branches could support your ignorance.
Later:
Ye Thuza: What makes you think you can treat my son-
Yuna: -and my brother-
Ye Thuza: -like that?
Yuna: That’s stepping on our patch, madam!
Ye Thuza: And we don’t feel like sharing with you!
They advance menacingly…

All I see is Cloud’s Mom putting an end to this….and it will be beautiful.
(It occurs to me, as I read this arch about a woman who is so incredibly gender-centric and believes in superiority of females and the suppression of the male gender, likely justifying it internally with thoughts of male dominion in times past and the current inequality still around today, that Cloud’s mother was a Rebel. An actual Rebel, who fought, and killed, and probably saw friends die, for an actual cause against, what I believe is, a tyrannical regime.
I want her to talk with this woman. Not even necessarily violently. But I want her to explain what it means to be repressed, subjugated, dominated, and robbed of basic rights, to this woman who feels she needs to insure the superiority of the female gender by giving them handouts and attacking the male gender at every opportunity. I want her to have a good, long, possibly fear-tactic inspired talk with her, about what inequality actually is… and how she’s never experienced it once in her self-righteous, egotistical, well-fed, and educated life.)
I’d write a life experiance about people like her, but I already did that 2 comics ago. On this one, I’ll remain quiet, enjoy clouds face, and wait for the storm of Ye Thuza to pull a Zeus on her. Some times its just not worth making enemies with a boy named after a video game character (though for some reason I have a feeling it could be Yuna who fixes this)
oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy (and so on)
should I better go with “oh girl oh girl oh girl” ?
Cloud: That means that our answers are exactly the same!
Mrs. Cambridge: No, they are not. Sandra’s circle is much more graceful then your ugly, sloppy one. Women are always neater than men!
(This isn’t the case with me, though; I never organize my things…)
@ Symphonius:
We think of something better…….Freezing can be more scaring then burning.
But Seriously she needs to go by next comic, I am just get more angry because she reminds me of so many teacher I had, that got away with stuff like that.
Some might think this is overly satirical, but it’s actually statistically proven that female teachers will give girls better grades. It’s not a big stretch that especially a feminist teacher would go to such lengths to cater to girls.
@ Besserwisser:
*extreme feminist. clouds mom would qualify as a normal feminist. just like the father in the previous arc was a normal christian and the mother was an extreme christian.
I really like it how people who use the term “social justice” or “social justice warrior” as a derogatory term are effectively saying to all the marginalized people of the world: “my fiction is more important than your reality.”
No, wait, no I don’t, I hate it.
@ Kyle:
Actually, Communism didn’t give us “+100 million dead” (which I understand is an exaggeration, as the actual number is closer to around 20 million, still pretty bad, I agree), Stalin did. It’s kind of like how Hitler took the Buddhist Swastika for peace (the name itself literally means “well-being”) and turned it into something of a cult symbol.
See, Communism wasn’t actually supposed to be a bad thing, it’s just that Stalin went against what it was supposed to be, betrayed his own kind and slaughtered a bunch of people for his own selfish interests. Which is, ironically, where the real problems of paranoia patriotism, where a lot of people are instinctively afraid to become multicultural for fear it may make them look like they aren’t “loyal” to their own country, and the “Russia is the enemy” mentality started to come in.
Also, the problem with any major following is that eventually, even a good idea can get turned into a bad one if it’s associated with things like death, rape, extremism, so on.
There’s an unfortunate side to the world where it isn’t necessarily the most relevant view that gets the floor but the loudest point.
The point that, I believe, the comic is trying to make is that every group has extremists, even typically good groups trying to do very good things. And when extremists grab hold of an ideal, they’ll twist it to whatever fashion they want to suit their own narrow minded views.
In short, Ms. Cambridge here is a perfect example of someone taking a good concept and throwing mud all over it by having it be associated with someone with her narrow mind. One person ruining for the group, happens in history, happens in life.
@ Ehrlich:
Wait, you mean this caricature of a woman is for realsies?! D:
@ Tsunami:
thank you for existing to post this.
@ LaughGirl:
No problem. Glad I could help.
@ LaughGirl:
Except I don’t think her position is even that extreme. As I said already, female teachers will already give male students worse grades (or female students better grades). Someone who is actively advocating for women won’t do less than that. In reality feminists have campaigned to improve the education of women and girls in nations where women already made up the majority of college graduates. Which could be easily cast off as extremist opinions but a number of times they’ve actually succeeded, casting doubt on the assumption that this was just a crazy fringe group of feminism
But yeah, I expect Cloud’s mom to be a feminist, just a less extreme one. Which isn’t bad, I just have lost hope in the assumption that problematic feminists are just a tiny sub-group of all of feminism.
@ Symphonius:
Where’s a herd of stampeding centaurs when you need one am I right everyone. This….excuse for a human even seems to have Umbridge’s look and attitude down pat.
This woman is like if PETA had a feminists division.
Anyway, I don’t usually have so much vitriol towards fictional characters, but I wouldn’t be too sad if Dorothy’s meeting with Ye resulted in a sword-related “accident”.
@ Commander Clash:
I think there is a sizeable racoon-population. Granted they don’t stampede much, but still……
Okay, this is getting ridicoulus. You’ve got better jokes than these.
@ Landbark:
Well, this isn’t even feminism anymore, if you ask me. It’s more like inverted chauvinism. @ Landbark:
If you ask me, this is not even feminism anymore. This is more like Inverted chauvinism.
@ Prezombie:
Well it shouldn’t. Those are to make a point – by selling things to people at a price proportional to the average pay of those of their gender. This is merely a (unnecessarily lengthy and not particularily funny) parody of feminism. I don’t believe it is actually offensive, but it seems to bring out silly opinions in people like you.
@ McDouggal:
Yes. Exactly. Thank you for clarifying for all the less enlightened.

*Sigh* I think it is really shameful that not a socialist but a damned liberal (Hayek) pointed out that the ‘nationalization of the means of production’ violates the distribution of power and therefore necessarily leads to dictatorships. Shouldn’t a socialist have analysed why Mao & Co were such disasters? Shouldn’t the socialists be eager to change their theory accordingly instead of deliberately ignoring the ‘experiment’?

I say we hospitalize the bitch, then give her hell in the hospital. A few suggestions that Ye Thuza may find..interesting is an old bit from the World Wrestling Federation.

Seriously, watching Ye Thuza take this poor excuse of a woman who never should have been given a position of authority and ram eight or nine different flavors of hell up her ass, raise your hands..or whatever the equivalent is on the internet.
@ sweeneyrod:
So, pointing out sexism is only good when it’s sexism against women? OK, gotcha.
Not that there is any proof that the wage gap is caused by discrimination on part of employers instead of individual choices.

I’m still waiting to see where this leads. The way I read her is this: she dislikes men, perhaps strongly. However, so far this new character has only been characterized and very little has been done to justify her existence in the comic, and she honestly feels like a caricature of… I don’t know.
Where are we heading… where are we heading..?
I had a teacher exactly like this during my third year in highschool. Her name was Vendrame and she spent the whole year telling me and the rest of my male classmates that the girls in our class worked better than us even during our oral tests and since she tought Latin, Literature and Dante she had plenty of material to manipulate to prove her point which she couldn’t do of course since even the girls in my class hated her too for her sexism.
