[0605] Teenage Pregnancy

- Caption: Sandra and Woo characters on avoiding teenage pregnancy.
- Richard: The 28-pill packet contains seven placebo pills. This way, you automatically remember when to begin the next packet.
- Lily: Can a 13-year-old female even have kits still?
- Woo: Very doubtful.
- Larisa: Don’t be irresponsible, Landon! If we wait another month, you’ll knock up a teenage girl!
- Ye Thuza: If you get Sandra pregnant before she’s finished high school, I’ll separate your head from your body.
@ Ominous:
Actually those placebos are only there so women have a period. There is no requirement that they have one, but when the pill first came out advocates for women complained that the doctors were trying to make them into men. So they introduced the week on placebo because the women WANTED a period each month.
Cloud’s mom and my mother had similar techniques, if different weapons of choice…
@ Preadatordetector:
AID’s is no joke. I was serious about that.
And yes babies will be jelly
Problem Mr.Detector?
@ Landbark:
No one said it was that head c;
@predatordetector
Time is valueble plus you can’t get it back. You don’t wanna make a decision that will ruin your life.
Sex is NO joke and people need to wake up and stop rushing into it like its cool. Stop teen pregnancies!!!! Stop pressuring people to do it! And stop the nonsense. What ever happened to Sex after marriage? And yes I am a virgin and I’m not afraid to say it!
Problem?
@ Dusk:
You don’t think it;s a good idea to provide teenage girls with birth control? Why? They regulate hormones, ease symptoms of menstruation, help prevent certain diseases and prevent pregnancy! If a teen wants to have sex, they will. If they don’t, they won’t. But in any case being on the pill is a good precaution and a relief measure, in many cases.
Do you also oppose vaccinations?
Troll Science Man wrote:
So you want babies to be crushed into a chunky paste, have sugar and spices added to them, be simmered for several hours and end up into a sticky, bright red residue?
And I thought I was disgusting.
Also, I do realize just how serious AIDS is. That is why I called you out on that; I thought you were joking, and I was disgusted by the conclusion I made.
Girls were always treating me like scum anyways so I don’t see why I was so concerned in retrospect. I am a heterosexual male, by the way.
@ Troll Science Man:
Also my words of wisdom to the comment you are responding to (@ Preadatordetector:
) were there solely for providing the wisdom in itself. Also it was designed to directly bite you in the rear if you followed it.
Troll Science Man wrote:
There are two aspects to it.
When it comes to actually waiting until after marriage, there likely never was an age where premarital sex was an exception rather than a rule. If there was, then most likely people simple kept the girls at home or under watch whenever they went out so there simple wasn’t many opportunities for premarital sex. In any case, it’s highly unlikely there ever existed a time when even half the people saved themselves for marriage out of virtue.
When it comes to why sex after marriage stopped being the cool thing, it was an inevitable consequence of the subject becoming less of a taboo. People notices that a lack of a sex life life was more often a consequence of failing to have a sex life rather than a choice of not having it. Obviously, that lowers the status of waiting until marriage.
@ Tucci78:
Depo-Provera has been linked with depression, and there is no safeguard against allergic reactions. Most other chemical contraception methods have also been linked with depression, but never to the extent of Depo-Provera.
The best forms of contraception are the non-chemical ones.
Speakling of Racoons, have you seen Guardians of the Galaxy?
Cool raccoon. Great movie.

In the wild, maybe.
I have a friend who has a pet raccoon. That critter is MUCH older than three, though she is definitely still an active adult.
Ugh… was up for a long time seeing where their “activities” would be legal. It would save me a lot of time if I knew what state they lived in. In Canada, though, I do know that Larisa’s and Landon’s activities would be legal as long as they don’t use intercourse techniques that do not require contraception to prevent pregnancy.
If you are wondering what I mean, decode this binary into ASCII:

Do not decode if you are uncomfortable about discussing reproduction habits among humanity.
You have been warned.

To be fair, anti-depression drugs have been linked to depression and allergic reactions.
Aspirin has allergic reactions. Furthermore, I recently saw a commercial in which they were advertising botox, a neurotoxin, as migraine relief.
I’m not going to disagree with you necessarily, but remember not to discredit birth control pills because of that kind of “risk”, it’s not as big a risk as some make it out to be and it’s certainly not the most dangerous drug in today’s society. 🙂
@ Preadatordetector:
Don’t most people look up their ASCII in HEX not BIN?
Hex: $416E616C207365782E
But anyway, though it works, that is looked down upon in just as many places. Hard to win.
Here’s an easy, one step method for avoiding teenage pregnancy:
DON’T HAVE SEX WITH A TEENAGER
@ Hyperstar96: Are you sure that works? I’m not having sex with any teenagers and yet there are still teenagers who get pregnant. It seems like me not having sex with them doesn’t prevent them from getting pregnant, it just prevents them from getting pregnant with my child.
OK, I was playing dumb-ass, but seriously, you’re treating us like we were dumb. Do you honestly think that there’s anyone here who doesn’t know that not having sex will prevent pregnancy?
I just have one question for Ye Thuza…..which head are you cutting off? The one that’ll kill him instantly, or the one that’ll make him wish he was dead instantly.
I think they might be about the age of 16 now.
@ Landbark:
She didn’t say which head would be removed.
Maybe we could have two different time lines going on, one in which either Sandra or Larissa get Pregs, (or Both, or just have a 3rd for the other) and just one where it’s all normal.
This seems like a good time for a question I’ve had for awhile: as this strip’s primary breeding couple (David and Ye Thuza seem happy to have two children), how is it Woo and Lily haven’t had any kits yet?
@ Neospector:
Aspirin also causes painful stomach ulcers. My point was, Depo-provera has profound psychological effects on users, that almost no other contraceptives do, and that while Tucci may prefer Depo to other contraceptives, it is by no means one that is ‘better than the others’, as Tucci is implying. If I were a woman, I wouldn’t touch the stuff.
@ Iris:
A good parent initiates these conversations.
Y’know, Landon’s mom is a disgrace, but I’d have kind of liked her to be in this strip so that celibacy would at least be mentioned.
@ Somebody:
It kinda was by Ye Thuza.
@ myth buster:
Only kinda’, though.
@ John Willow: ended up missing most of his clothes after cloud humiliated him. not so mean now.
@ Luke:
My dear old Mom used to say “If you break your legs ridin’ that there motorsickle don’t come runnin’ to me!” Or was it “If’n it ain’t a Ford use it for a boat’s anchor!” I can never remember.
@ Witsah:
That comment made me cringe!
@ Crimsonfalke:
My “Captain” I feel honor in your presence! I salute thee!

Me too; but only because it was like the sixth time someone had made that exact same joke.
true – I must say that I thought from their previous attitudes and comments that they were nearer 14 or 15 @ Anonymous Person:
I would make a “Which head” joke here, but I’m busy realizing how old Larisa is and how accurate she is to people that age as of now.
Panel 3 crossed a line. There are 12 year old girls who are sexual predators, but it’s not cool or funny for anyone involved. Dial it back a bit, or see it through.
1) Richard is a responsible parent.
2) This part made me a little sad. Have they started having kits yet? We need a mini-Woo. 🙁
3) Wow… How serious is Larisa about this?
4) Not surprised, but shouldn’t that be Richard’s prerogative?
In the last panel, cloud looks worried… you think he and Sandra might have done something naughty?
@ Invisible Dancing Bottom:
Lol, CSI reference.. And true, now that’s what I can true fourth wall breaking.
Dusk wrote:
No. It isn’t. If Richard had also made sure to instruct Sandra about condoms and the importance of STD testing for both boys and girls, THEN it would have been the greatest of ideas.
Ye Thuza? Well…that’s just a short step away towards “abstinence-only education,” which is a great way to have pregnant teenagers. No kidding. States have tried it, IT DOESN’T WORK.
@ Kitch:
Actually, I think it’s supposed to demonstrate Lily’s ignorance of human reproduction– a female raccoon of 13 would be well past her prime, but a human girl is just starting to bloom. I’m presuming Lily’s still young and fertile.
@ Dusk:
why? IIRC the pills are designed so you are still protected during the final week, and the reason for the placebos is because the Pill can prevent you from having your period- the idea is you take the placebos, have your period, then start the next packet- the reason for the placebos is so you can remember it’s a packet a month- this reducing the chances you miss a dose.
he’s actually being pretty intelligent- he’s making sure Sandra knows about contraception.
I hope by head, Ye Thuza means the head of his penis, and not his actual head. Why doom Sandra to raising their child alone?
@ Dusk:
It’s not going to encourage anything, It’s not going to STOP anything. All it will do is prevent innocent bystanders.

Sexist comments like these are what leads to the myth that men/boys cannot be raped because “all boys want it”. The simplest test of sexism is to reverse the roles and see if the action is considered objectionable. If the roles were reversed, no one would be saying, “Larisa’s a lucky girl!” but quite the contrary… there would be cries of (justifiable) outrage over what would be considered sexual assault. Larisa forcing herself on a hesitant Landon is just as unethical as the reverse and saying otherwise is the very definition of sexist.
Men/boys are not ALL the same any more than all women/girls being the same. Just because some males would consider themselves lucky to have such a forward girlfriend and jump at the chance to “get laid” at age 12, doesn’t mean ALL males view intimacy with such casual disregard. If “not yes means no” to an adolescent boy, then it means the same to an adolescent girl and Larisa is wrong to push for something Landon isn’t ready for.
As for arguments that abstinence education is “unrealistic” or ineffective, 17 out of 22 studies on the matter conducted from the mid 90s through 2010 determined that abstinence education not only reduced teen sexual activity in half, but carried with it reductions in teen smoking, drug use, and alcohol abuse. Furthermore, when coupled with contraceptive education, abstinence education programs were shown to be equally as effective at getting teens to use contraceptives as standard “safe sex” programs. (that is to say that neither program types result in statistically significant higher use of contraceptives among teens)
@ Lukkai:
Its when someone has *teen* in their *age*, so 13 to 19
um … ye thusa … womt giving him a pack of condoms you and david use be much better way? like really give him a saya for his catana and no one gets cut, he buy them himself later.

Of course she was talking about the >important< head. What did you think? Who needs the other one, anyway?
So all this time Larissa and Landon have had sex! And he’s cumming inside.
