- Sandrine West: I’ll write a letter to my congressman and inform him of your unconstitutional activities!
- Sandrine West: After all, we live in a constitutional democracy whose legal boundaries also apply to intelligence services!
- Williams Cloud: HAHAHA
- Dr. Larisa Kropotkin: Snigger
- Williams Cloud: HAHAHAHA HAHAHA
- Williams Cloud: HAHAHA HA– gasp
- Williams Cloud: h…a hch……
- Dr. Larisa Kropotkin: Jones, we have a “situation.”
- Sandrine West: My plan’s working.
Roger Rabbit reference?
Did cloud just laugh so hard that he passed out?
That is a weird face in panel 6.
@ Rabid_Fox:
I hope not those weasels died and I dont want cloud to die.
Make that a “constitutional republic” which means we elect representatives who, when they follow the Constitution, protect our rights and operate the limited federal government the founders envisioned. Sadly, we’ve drifted all too far from that ideal so that the president routinely goes around the limits on his power while Congress points fingers, makes fancy speeches, and score big donations from lobbying groups.
The intelligence world is well known to always trampling over boundaries, both countries and morale. So reporting it to local authority is quite a hilarious joke.
Also I laughed along with Cloud, only to laugh harder when Cloud keel over and (play) dead.
I wonder where’s the upvote/downvote buttons go….
@ hometownboy93:
It’s either that, or an unnoticed poison injection.
@ someguy:
True but when did sandrine do it and where did she inject the poison

It’s a good comical expression though. Sometimes exaggerating facial expressions work better because it’s hard to express stuff in drawing if you follow real life face boundaries.
This is the best guide to draw facial expressions:

Also to Novil, do you read Lackadaisy Cat? The artworks are amazing, the expressions are top notch and the story is interesting. The only downside is that it’s updated in slower than snail pace.

@ Ron H:
Thank you, it had to be said.
And, Jones, do we know a Jones? Or might this be another GC guest appearance?
Diabolical mastermind Sadrine is on the move again.
Next thing you know, she’ll be running the country as an Empress. (Hey, it has historical backing! It’s not *too* terribly difficult to turn a republic into an empire! The Romans did it!)
…*gasp*!
…That means we’re seeing a prequel! 😮
Oh god, Larisa’s face in panel four. 😀
But what a nefarious plan, Sandrine! You really gave in to the dark side easily, didn’t you?
So when is the East arc going to occur so we can complete the Westing Game reference?
Gee that was a real funny joke. Said all the Terroist held by the CIA.
What happened to Cloud? Did he see Smile jpg?
@ Vidad:
That’s exactly what I thought! #JonesNOTAROBOT
Is Cloud having a heart attack?
Kids like Cloud aren’t supposed have heart attacks. They’re supposed to skin their knees, or poke their eyes out, or get smothered by cats!
Dr. Larisa Kropotkin: I hope you realise you’re going to be charged with Agent Cloud’s death. With your other crimes, that will easily ensure that you spend the rest of your life in maximum security. And that method won’t work on me, so you’d better get to confessing while you still can!
Sandrine West: *removes tee-shirt to reveal “I’M A BELIEBER!” vest*
[…]
Special Agent Ivan Kropotkin: Don’t think you can play innocent, Sandrine! We know that you caused Dr. Kropotkin’s fatal brain aneurism, and are also responsible for whatever killed Agent Cloud!
[…]
Commander Richards: Somehow, the terror suspect escaped from this room, incapacitating SA Kropotkin in a manner that prevented him from following. SA Kropotkin is still unable to speak… I want a full forensic analysis of the scene, men! We must find out how she did it!
He exits, closing the door behind him. Painted on the back of the door is “THOMAS KINKAID IS GOD! YOU KNOW IT’S TRUE!”.
>:=)>
I’m taking a government class about the executive branch and the NSA right now. This is so relevant.
Too much coffee and cigarettes agent?
*sigh* Yeah, I don’t see things ever getting any better. The terrorist threat is only gonna get bigger as technology makes weapons easier and easier to build, and the government will have more and more justification to keep going with this crap. Europe, ever the obnoxiously perfect older brother, has stayed true to its convictions so far, but give it another 50 years. Rising immigration means rising nationalism and xenophobia, which in turn means rising conflict. Even the venerated nordic states will get ugly once their oil runs out and the economy turns south.
Or maybe I’m just in a crappy mood tonight.
now if we can get certain nutso politicians to die like that…
nah! it would never work!
Great read
Anyone else think cloud and larissa look like Team ROcket in this comic?
Great Joke;
But true to form for our government, we need a patsy that this SNAFU can be blamed on…. personally, I think this is where poor Landon is going to come in….

not until you just mentioned it, ROFL

Go back to episode 2…. Jones is our tax dollars at work!
Laughter; best medicine, or deadly weapon?
You know, when people complain about how our government works (or doesn’t work), I sometimes wonder what they would replace it with.
Then I remember, they are actually TRYING to replace it and their efforts are being fouled up by those who actually care about the nation and are trying to fix the problems.
But this is what you get when you create a system that puts the people who WANT power (the exact people who should not be) in charge.
Those who get power don’t want to give it up and those who don’t have the power will do anything to get it.
Panel 6 killed me XD
Where’d the upvote/downvote buttons go?
@ Lucario:
I dare you to look normal while having a heart attack 😉
RavenKingSage wrote:
Yeah, it’s a real heartstopper!
Bree wrote:
So did the French, twice.
@ hometownboy93:
No, he laughed so hard he died. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving secret policeman . . . is what I would say, but there’s Larissa to go.
@ Bree:
Running the country as an Empress–works for me!
Old Brit wrote:
But then Napoleon got a brilliant idea “Lets invade Russia during winter!”
For a guy who crown himself as the emperor of French I expect him to be more smarter than that.
@ AckAckAck:
Or Napoleon III “lets taunt the Germans until they invade”
Napoleon III also thought he could invade the US right after the US suffered the american civil war. He must have figured the US would be in chaos and tired of war.
His invasion fleets (wooden vessels with metal screens over their sides) ran into fleets comprised of both northern and southern ironclads (the southern hurriedly finished or salvaged when the alarm went out).
The Franco-American war lasted three naval battles (cumulative 3 days) with a total defeat for the french. Andrew Johnson (Lincoln’s replacement after he was assassinated) sent Napoleon III a thank you note.
@ Petah-Petah:
It’s a reference to ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit?’.
With (possibly) a Usagi Yojimbo skull-thing.
I live in hope.
Words can’t describe how much I love the way Cloud is drawn in panel 5.
I mean, come on guys, that’s like, supervillain levels of laughter intensity!
Valkeiper2012 wrote:
Okay, since you just complained about how the government works, applying your own criticism, what would you replace it with? A system that actively looks for people who don’t want to be in power and forces them to be there? Do tell.
My God, did Powree look at a “How to Draw Hilarious Cartoon Faces” book? Because there’s been a ton of them lately.
@ AckAckAck:
Napoleon never played Risk as a kid. ^_^
Just dropping by to say that so far this is easily my favorite arc. Keep up the great work!!

That note:
Thanks for the naval training. Also BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

@ AckAckAck:
The incident was apparently deemed so unimportant it’s not mentioned on wikipedia. In fact, it is written there that Napoleon didn’t wanted war with US and when the civil war ended, he withdraw his soldiers from Mexico where they were fighting at the time.
In addition to the obviously real CIA operatives in the comic, attempting to censor the dissident Sandrine West for daring to type nonsense.
I’ve noticed a shocking amount of censorship by the creators with their decision to remove our ability to censor awful comments such as this one, it is an outrage against free speech, that we cannot freely deny another’s opinion to be heard.
Damn, so much hypocrisy. I hope I don’t get called out on it.
@ Xezlec:
That is exactly the problem…
and the best possible solution.
Unfortunately, I see no method by which the solution could be implemented.
Our nation’s founding fathers knew of the problem. They worked hard trying to develop a system that did not reward career politicians.
It worked decently well until the first power-hungry politician (is there truly any other type?) found a way to dodge a limit to his power.
@ hkmaly:
One battle was near Florida (not sure if it was in the Atlantic or in the Gulf)
One battle was in the Atlantic somewhere between Norfolk, Va (the south’s most northern port) and New York.
Both of these battles were within sight of land (since most of the defending ironclads were coastal vessels) and were TOTAL losses for the french.
The last was in the Gulf of Mexico. The transports for THAT fleet actually returned to France with more troops than they left with (most of the additional had been based in Mexico, itself). The references are difficult to find since France didn’t even consider it a conflict and the US considered a boon to have a short and sweet victory to bring the states back together.
I read all comics from 1-627 in 7 hours, I have loved every single second.
I’m loving the faces here 🙂 so awesome and new.
No, we live in a constitutional *republic*.
