[0631] Activision’s Latest Offering

- Ye Thuza: This game is nothing but an orgy of mindless violence.
- Assault rifle: RA-TA-TA-TA-TA
- Ye Thuza: And all the female characters are helpless damsels in distress… with boobs bigger than Tifa Lockhart’s.
- Girl: Thank you for saving me, my hero!
- Ye Thuza: And the dialog solely consists of cheesy one-liners.
- Sergeant: Do the right thing, Jack. For your squad, for your country!
- Ye Thuza: How dare you not tell your own mother about this new masterpiece?! …… That’s no dessert for two weeks, kiddo!
- Cloud: Hey!
- Narrator: M-M-M-M-MONSTERKILL
Oh how I wish this was my mom.
I wish to one day be as awesome a parent as Ye Thuza.
I bet it still has a better storyline than Destiny.
I wonder if she plays Castlevania and Megaman? Her and my mom would get along at their prime <3
I just thought I’d let you all know that this strip was the reason I started playing FF7. Thanks (but no thanks for all the chocobo breeding)!
… Is this you guys weighing in on #gamergate?
Just what game is he playing?
@ Garrus:
I… for a second I thought it was Ride to Hell : Retribution.
But I don’t think even Ye Thuza could call that a masterpiece.
That will be us when we’re parents.
“Oooh, newest videogame? Son/dughtie, wash the dishes, I need to play… I mean test this. For… “moral stuff.”
Considering who Ye-Thuza is, I have a hard time believing that she would support the “helpless female” stereotype in video games. The other two are things I could believe she would very much enjoy in a video game though.
…..I can’t react to this. Is the punchline Advanced Warfare, or is it Destiny?
This is not about a specific game.

You mean older generation moms. In a decade or so we will become newtype of parents. The older generation will be content by calling all our consoles “Nintendo.”

Aka Inbreeding 101!

Gamergate is just US gamers thing. European and Asian gamers either don’t know or doesn’t give a damn. I mean in my country there’s a game con recently and no one talked about it. That’s because no one give a damn what gender playing video game. People only give a damn about is the game good or not.
From what I saw, in South East Asia it revolve around FIFA Soccer series, PES soccer series, Tekken series, Last of Us (PS4) and Online PC games. The best moment was when people take turns playing Last of Us, male and female. Everyone was busy cheering and talking about the game rather than questioning if you have a stick or a hole on your crotch. It was a great moment since we keep passing the controller everytime Joel died and the next clueless guy/girl who never play the game before hilariously bungling their way around the game, getting face chewed by the mushroom zombies.
@ Hipogriff 101:
amen, my freind, amen
(without the grounding of course)
What game are they playing?
Ah, my kind of game. Sometimes, it’s good to just sit back, relax, and have fun, plot, progressive thinking, and innovation be darned. So I say with sincerity that…yes. On occasion, mindless = masterpiece. (Especially if it’s particularly well-polished mindless. A good idea wasted on a bad game is much worse than no new ideas in a good game.)
Oh look! It’s every game I wanted to play in the 90s!
Great plan Ye Thuza, now Cloud has nothing else to do but pay attention to his girlfriend.

It’s possible she doesn’t minds helpless females because she sure as hell isn’t one.
So…Ye Thuza likes her some boobs, does she? 😉
All hail Ye Thuza! The BEST mom EVER.
Rex Vivat wrote:
OR: she’s the complete opposite of a helpless female.
And given her history… Ye-Thuza knows PRECISELY just how craptastic the “complete opposite of a helpless female” actually is. Especially when said role is inserted into a conflict-driven struggle of the real world.
Part of what games are about is escaping into fantasy…. so, a harmless game about Duke Mc’Adrenaline (with Muscles on top of MUSCLES), double-wielding crew-served machine guns (and bigger), solving everyone else’s problems by simple rules and objectives (BLOOD! MURDER!! KEYCARDS!!!), and dress in a pair of halpless buxom babes (draped over both of his shoulders, obviously)?
Sign ’em up!!
@ Rex Vivat:
Whose gonna save the princess? Why, another princess of course! You think they’re going to sit around waiting for a hero to turn up?
Ye Thuza looks like those guys that curse the Call of Duty games and STILL BUY THE GAME!!
The “monster kill” reminds me of the combos from Killer Instinct.
Ahh, Ye Thuza reminds me of why I enjoy Bayonetta. Not because of all the stereotypes it adheres to, but because it cranks them up to 11, to the point of parody.
I mean seriously, she has *gun heels*.
@ Novil:
Sorry but you can’t fool us
There is clearly a Rattata in the first panel
Thus, this comic is referring to the new Call of Duty vs. Pokemon game coming out in November.
Wonder what Ye Thuza thinks of Bayonetta.

Actually I remember someone pitched an idea in a forum about a videogame about soldiers using Pokemon as their battle companion. I say it’s a good idea that will never tapped by Nintendo since they aren’t interested in making war centric video games. I mean they also refused to make Pokemon MMO even when it got a lot of potentials.
alicemacher wrote:
That did jump at me.
But I don’t think she’s all that into female characters being damsels in distress, so I think this is less a sign of bisexuality than of Ye Thuza’s love of schlockiness.
Of course, I could be entirely wrong. 😉
@ AckAckAck:
Gamergate isn’t really about sexism in game development, its about corruption in gamer journalism.

Yes, yes he does. However, he also remembers mom’s warning.
Remember the good ol’ days when there was no such things like this.
We have all those blackface minstrels and even mindless entertainment magazines.
Turns out, based on Academic studies, pop culture have sucked (interwar culture). No, “best” media form is different from “popular” one.
james wrote:
Well… since everyone knows everything EA touches is rubbish, Blizzard never comes with anything new… well is there anyone else (discounting Chris Roberts) who actualy makes games?
Do we actualy need journalism?
@ AckAckAck:
This is not just US. many people in the EU do care. Those mainstream gaming journalism sites are usually international.
Rofl. I love Cloud’s parents.
From now i declare that the new official unit of measure for boobs will be the Tifa
@ Filias:
But we’d need to have microtifas and nanotifas to measure real boobs then o.o
Coolest. Mother. Ever.
Everything in here could easily be describing any one of the Borderlands games, they have a ‘Jack’ too.
Challenge for artists: this cast as the cast of the second one.
@ Paeris Kiran:
Are you saying you think there are only three game developers in existence?
@ McDouggal:
GamerGate is not about any level of quality in games, nor is it about sexism and games. GamerGate is purely about subpar game reviewers. There are members of GamerGate of every gender, sex, and taste.
@ Canina Spam:
Well no… I am just saying that so called “game journalism” is crap.
I anticipated that last panel from the way she was able to use Tifa Lockhart (and her bust) as a point of reference. ^___^
This is why she is one of my favorite characters.
Wow what a coincidence. I just bought Shantae and the pirate’s curse. For those who don’t know Shantae is a female hero. That game is totally Awesome!!!!!!!! This game proves that Women can kick ass! Shantae is awesome! I encourage everyone to play pirates curse!!!!
@ Bacon Dude:
Yyyyyyyup
@ AckAckAck:
You know I first read about Gamergate in the UK press, not a peep here in the States that I have seen.
Super Mario… Gear… Tournament?
@ Bree:
Well done mindless mayhem of the Borderlands/Twisted Metal type is the cornerstone of videogames.
