- Sandra: Are you sure that you want to wear this dress to your first date?
- Luna: Why? Is there something wrong with it?
- Sandra: It’s a Warriors game, Luna. Thomas would surely feel uncomfortable if you showed up to it dressed like a prom queen.
- Luna: Oh no, you’re right! What was I thinking?!

So Thomas must want this to go well too. I’m glad I’m out of high school but these shenanigans are adorable.
Poor Thomas does not have multiple friends actively advising him what to do.
Or maybe he does.
Uh uh. I am not letting this go! We better see Larisa giving Landon some much deserved apology before this storyline is over.
So I get Thomas’ friends were all like: “Hello?! You’re going out with Luna! You should dress a little more formally even if it’s a football match.”

Maybe his friends suggested the suit. A suit to a sports game, though? Someone overcompensated with advice.
The ultimate first world problem…
hahaha,well done, well done
Luna stressed the “game” part, and Thomas, the “date”
Well, it certainly will be a memorable first date.
And a story to tell their kids. 😉
Bwahaha…
Why would Luna use a Valentino Rossi merchandise to a football match?

It should include apologies, and smooches, and light groping.
@ Berandal:
When I think “Warriors” it becomes “Golden State Warriors” which is basketball.
There isn’t a 46 on the Warriors, though…
The only football team with a stadium named the Warriors in the United States is the University of Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. Of course, we’ve seen it get cold in previous strips, so this comic clearly is not set in Hawaii.
The sport is whatever the reader’s mind makes it. For all we know they’re going to watch a bunch of adults play Calvinball.
I’d pay good money to see THAT played for two hours.
That’s about par for the course.
I can’t stop laughing at the last panel, it’s just too funny. XD
Poor Thomas, he thought it WAS the Prom.
XDDDDD
I feel sorry for them.
But wow, Thomas actually knows it’s a date! It would have gone easier if he didn’t xD

You and me both. I always wanted to start a Calvinball league, but somehow the rules change so often that it really makes the legal work difficult. 😛
To me, her dress looks less “prom queen” and more “fifties housewife.” Which, admittedly, isn’t the best look to wear to a football game either.
They might actually be perfect for each other.

Equally, I’m like, That should say “Oracle” Arena o3o. lol.
I hear that communication is important to relationships…

Don’t worry. I found an explanation:
If you look at what Luna is wearing, you’ll notice that it looks more like a football jersey than a basketball one. Since the Warriors play in Oakland, we just need to find someone who played for the Raiders who wore that number. As it so happens, the late Todd Christensen played as a tight end for the Silver and Black for 9 seasons, made 5 Pro Bowl appearances, and according to Sport Illustrated, was the greatest player to wear #46 in the history of the NFL.
So, after doing research that in the grand scheme of things probably didn’t matter that much, I’d say that the strip is being geographically consistent.

I laugh so hard I’m crying.
That ain’t prom queen at all. She looked great on that Sunday Mass dress.
Welll the other comments very eloquently handled pretty much of the intergrated topics already, so there is only one thing to really add to the conversation:
HAAA HAAAAA HAAAA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAA! HUHAHUAHAUHUAHUAHUAHUAAAAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!

“light” groping?
You don’t know Larisa very well, do you?
The only thing ‘light’ about what she does comes from her flamethrower.

This is so cute.
I’m sitting here with a huge grin on my face.
Daww… how cute they are made for each other :p
Interesting note about Sandra giving dating advice; she has no experience of dating herself. She has only been together with Cloud and they transitioned from being just friends to boyfriend/girlfriend and thus never entered the dating phase. Not that it may necessarily have made a difference if Sandra had actually dated Cloud.
@ Xan:
It probably went something like this.
Friend: Dude, you’re going on a date. You should make an effort to look nice for her.
Thomas: Right.
Shows up in suit.
Friend: *facepalm* Not that nice…
Thomas: Oops…

Glad to see I’m not the only one who didn’t realize (until after several readings) the other person in the last panel is Luna!
Luna reminds me of a little skater girl I had an excruciatingly painful crush on several years ago. Oh to be young again.
One of this strip’s best jokes too!
And that’s the reason I like this comic strip very much. The last panel made me laugh for a while!
The solution is simple.
Thomas dumps the suit coat, tie, and (if he’s wearing an undershirt, even if it’s just plain white) the dress shirt, too. There are tee-shirt and jersey vendors at the venue, so grab one and put it on. (Maybe skonavish a plastic bag into which the coat, tie, and long-sleeve shirt can be stuffed.)
The suit’s trousers will pass. (Unless they’re outlandish, who the hell ever looks at a guy’s trousers or shoes?). Maybe add a Warriors ballcap.
Enjoy the game, kids.
Oh my Gods this reminds me of that one TMNT episode with April and Casey
I can’t even explain how much I love Luna joining the lineup. Her storyline broke my heart, but Sandra was so sweet! Now Larisa!
O. Henry’s “Gift of the Magi,” dating edition.
@ Valkeiper2012:
Considering what Larissa was promising Landon after he got back from the camping trip with his dad, it’s possible the two are somewhere between first and second base (keeping with the sports theme here)
Poor junior high kids. They try so hard!
Miss Communication and Miss Information have been working overtime.

Dude, they’re 12.
That’s one of ths best and sweetes strip ^^ !!
@ All-Purpose Guru:
I believe it’s been covered that they’re 14, but anyway, have you SEEN Landon and Larisa together?! Or just Larisa’s approach to things in general?
