- Ye Thuza: Bedtime, Yuna.
- Yuna: No, mommy, don’t come in! I’m… uhh… doing what you and daddy did last week when I wasn’t allowed to come into your bedroom!
- Yuna: MOMMY, NO!!
- Ye Thuza: Yuna!! What the hell?!
- Ye Thuza: Why are there two climate zones in your bedroom?!
- Yuna: It was an accident, mommy, an accident! I didn’t mean to reverse entropy in my room!

I know what this is trying to say, but that’s not how entropy works. Both snow and steam are relatively high entropy states. She increased entropy. Nothing decreases it. The best you can do is spread it around.
Woah, woah, woah here! Why’s everyone automatically assuming that Yuna’s folks were doing the nasty when they stopped her coming in last week? They could have been watching a scary film, playing something like Doom or even trying to tidy up.
@ Iron Ed:
Are you sure?
I have a modest proposal to solve that problem… >;)
@ Hobbes:
Actually Myanmar seems to be liberating itself slowly but surely.
Not to say everything is all set mind you but the tide is turning.
@ Hobbes:
Okay for some reason my two links with some of the details didn’t show up I”ll try this again…
From the New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/11/opinion/pushing-myanmar-toward-full-democracy.html?_r=0
From the Wall Street Journal: http://www.wsj.com/articles/myanmars-new-government-frees-more-than-60-political-prisoners-1460172641
IF both links fail to show just type in Myanmar (Burma’s official name now) into Google and do a news search and you’ll see the recent political changes that have occured there.
@ DocMesa:
Because the strip would have been much less fun otherwise. In fact, I would claim that it wouldn’t have been fun at all.

I LOVE her look in panel 2.
It’s like “I know what we were doing, but what does she THINK we were doing?”
@ ArcaneDarkness:
what´s the reference here?@ ArcaneDarkness:
“Yuna, sweetie, I’m respecting your privacy by knocking but asserting my authority as your mother by coming in anywayyyyy!”
@ Valkeiper2012:
Did you miss-click or are you really responding to me? If you are responding to me, I have no idea what you’re getting at.
A proper representation of reversing entropy. Thank you.
@ lupusFati:
Got to love Fairly Odd Parents. Though recent seasons have been hit and miss. Poof didn’t really add much to the dynamic, but we got Foop and that was totally worth it. Sparky is definitely hit or miss most of the time, but is sometimes funny. I haven’t watched the new season, but it doesn’t look good. While Poof and/or Sparky could be considered “jumping the shark” for this series, the new season is definitely it if you don’t count the other two.
Well, I found her first problem. She’s using the barrel off of Doc’s Wormhole gun..

I just found this strip, and I loved going through the archive. I love most of the characters, but these two are my favourite! 🙂
@ jsmunroe:
I think you’re a bit off-base here. Entropy is “a thermodynamic quantity representing the unavailability of a system’s thermal energy for conversion into mechanical work, often interpreted as the degree of disorder or randomness in the system.” Now the fact is that she shoved the energy from one side into the other, by definition making it MORE available, LESS averaged, and thus an actual reversal of entropy.
fun fact my book mark is when she built that machine and back then it was a cold fusion powerplant and now its a temperature changer???
Well, THAT didn’t work xD
By the way, why didn’t the water vaporize?
The expression on the fish’s face is priceless, though, I would be worried if my habitat was slowly evaporating, too.
Extremely obscure adult humor is the best kind!
It’s all fun and games until someone reverses Entropy…
Unplug it, Yuna. Unplug it.
Or learn how to install an off switch.
First up, I’ll leave this here: Maxwell’s demon. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maxwell%27s_demon
Also, I distinctly remembered an old science fiction classic. It’s about some alien transmitting increasingly complex technology across the stars to Earth, and the recipients (us) only realizing just how dangerous the tech freely given is when a handheld device causes reverse Entropy to occur, near-absolute-zeroing and burning down the house where it was kept unguarded.
(there’s more, but this is the turning point)
Yup, that one matches this comic a lot better than “The Last Question”.
I can’t remember the title or find it via Google-fu however. Sorry about that.
She’s going to destroy the universe someday. We will be proud.

MY first thought was she simply moved thermal energy from one side to the other.

Unless you disagree with swift’s modest proposal.
Could be worse. Could have been the Barry Ween approach.
NSFW, by the way.

This is actually the result of another Asimov story, this one about a wizard who enslaves a demon to push faster moving molecules out of his domicile. Eventually, the demon, who he named Maxwell for some reason, had accomplished the same thing as Zuna.

That look of disbelief in panel 2 tho
Can we take a moment to appreciate YeThusa’s face in Panel 2?
I’m torn.
On the one hand, figuring out how to reverse entropy would be a COSMIC breakthrough.
On the other, Yuna can be rather creepy, and I don’t trust her to handle the forces involved correctly.

@ GnarlyDoug:
Entropy can also be much more simple defined as the absence of order. Not the opposite, that would be chaos, just the absence.
Think about this: If Yuna didn’t mean to reverse entropy, what was she trying to do? Also, watch out if she ever gets together with the kids from “Precocious”!
Yes, yes yes. Book pony is BEST book pony.
@ Lookfar:
In “The Last Question” people ask AC (world’s greatest super computer) whether they can reverse entropy and prevent the heat death of universe. Bazillions of years later when universe meets its heat death, AC reverts entropy by saying “LET THERE BE LIGHT”
Teenagers ought to now know how to make funds speedy and uncomplicated.

The solution to the Maxwell’s Demon paradox is that Maxwell’s Demon must have the ability to process information in order to separate high-energy particles from low-energy particles. Specifically, the information processing must produce at least as much entropy as is eliminated by separating the two states.
