I need some help regarding “Sagaland”/”Enchanted Forest”
I need a little help regarding a future Sandra and Woo strip. I’d like to know how a winning position in the board game “Sagaland”/“Enchanted Forest” (pic 1, pic 2, more pics) would look like when it’s played by 2 players. Can someone provide a sketch or describe it? My e-mail address in novil@gmx.de. The last move of the winning player would be looking under a tree, right?
A winning position of a similarly looking board game for 2 players and corresponding last move of the winning player would also be okay.
I got a good answer to my question. Thank you, dobbs.
Oh, long time since I played that game. I barely remember it, but if I remember correctly, there was something more than just finding the right tree. But it is probably 25 years since I played…
The final move has one player’s game token resting on the “key” position in the castle, and that player revealing which tree matches the symbol of the last card in the stack at the castle. The player at the castle may not be the winning player.
All trees except the one matching the castle card should be resting at a tree space on the game board with their symbol face-down against the board, hidden. The symbol is on the underside of the tree. A player would be revealing the matching symbol, which means everyone can see the symbol on the bottom of one tree. Trees are not removed from the board during gameplay; once a turn is over the all trees are replaced to their spot with the symbol hidden.
Each player collects cards from the castle by matching the card on the top of the stack to the tree with the same symbol. The top card is face-up, showing the current symbol for which all players are hunting. The winner has collected the most cards. Players can only reveal a tree while their token rests on the “key” space at the castle, and they have one opportunity to match while on that space. If they reveal an unmatching tree the player token must circle the castle before again entering the “key” space.
In a close game other player tokens will be near the castle, having raced to the “key” space to collect the final card, and all players have collected the a similar number of cards.
tldr: One card left at the castle, symbol showing. One player token on the “key” space, and that player is showing everyone the tree with the same symbol as the card at the castle. All other trees resting on their spaces with symbols hidden. Winning player has collected the most cards.
@ dobbs:
Thank you for the detailed answer.
