They’re talking about Fred Rogers from the TV show Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood.
Don’t miss to check out the following news post with the submissions ranked #13 to #25 of our yearly Sandra and Woo and Gaia artwork contest.
- Larisa: What’s heaven like?
- The Devil: Oh, it’s not much different from hell, just with more harps and ambrosia.
- Larisa: But don’t the truly pure and innocent deserve something better than that?
- The Devil: Haha! There’s no such thing as a “truly pure and innocent” human!
- Larisa: But, but…! Then what about Mr. Rogers?
- The Devil: Don’t ever talk about the “anomaly” again!

It’s a beautiful day in this neighborhood. A beautiful day for a neighbor. Would you be mine? Could you be mine?
Depictions of Heaven and Hell: The greatest motivators for searching for eternal life on Earth since the dawn of civilization.
Fred Rogers … that one guy who had a pure kind smile on face on both side of his coins

@ Ryan:
OK…there was supposed to be a link in there.

@ Ryan: Right I was questioning another person’s comment that Mr. Rogers was former special ops as I knew that wasn’t true but didn’t want to outright say it so instead questioned his source.
I love the Anomaly. So many happy memories.
Maybe they have him confused with James Doohan aka Scotty from Star Trek who was a member of the Canadian Military and a BAMF.
True story: A friend, originally from Pittsburgh, was giving me a lift. Also in the car were two friends originally from South Africa.
In the course of the conversation, my friend (the driver) casually mentioned that she’d grown up next door to Mr. Rogers. She’d see him going to church every Sunday (he was a minister) and he’d walk her and her siblings to synagogue every Saturday. “You’re my real neighbors,” he’d say.
I was struck dumb. The South Africans didn’t get it. “Who was he?” they asked. And on cue, we answered, “Mr. Rogers was…sort of a saint.”
The funny thing is that every American I tell this story to fills in the last line before I say it.
@ Nightmask:
He was in fact in the marines, but not special forces
@ Alduinian:
That’s false Mr. Rogers never served in the military Marines or otherwise. It’s baffling that there are people who keep spreading that myth around, I guess they can’t handle just how pure he was and feel that something dark or gritty must be there but it’s just not so.
Ok but what about Phil Lester? What is more pure and innocent than him?
dont use stupid jokes
What about Mother Theresa?
@ Nightmask:
Oh no, he was perfectly pure, but that doesn’t mean that he couldn’t have served in the armed forces
@ Alduinian:
It doesn’t mean that he couldn’t have, no. But he didn’t. Not the Marines, not any branch of the service. He went straight to work in television after graduating from college, and at no point during his career had a break long enough for a tour of service in the military.
@ Jack Chipmunk:
According to Wikipedia he was also a trained general aviation pilot. That’s probably where the rumors come from.
I know it’s a bit of a non sequitur, but what became of Zoey and Michelle? Last we saw them together was over a year ago.
@ Onihikage:
You’re doing God’s work, man.
Won’t you be my neighbor?
@ Onihikage:
God, my eyes got moist just reading your comment.
Wasn’t Fred Rogers a sniper in the military?
Not putting down soldiers or anything, but you’d think that would cross “truly innocent” off most people’s trait lists, no?
