- The Devil: No worries, Larisa. We can still save Sandra. But now you have to take a more active role. Can you do that?
- Larisa: Sure!
- The Devil: Good!
- The Devil: Steve, how’s it going?
- Steve Jobs: Data transfer complete!
- The Devil: Good!
- The Devil: With your new hPhone, you can check out updated versions of the map anywhere, anytime!
- Steve Jobs: 4.6 mm thin, retina display, 1 THz CPU, 4 TB RAM, scratch-proof aluminum case.
- Larisa: That’s great. But it doesn’t seem to have a screen…?
- Steve Jobs: Like I said, it has a retina display.
- The Devil: No worries, Larisa. It’ll only hurt a lot.
- Larisa: Uh-oh.
The downside of working with the devil. “It will only hurt a lot” ^^
An eerily plausible step in technology…
The Eye Phone from Futurama!
Hehe HUD, Borderlands style.
@ Lucario:
Indeed. XD
… Why doesn’t he just install a micro-computer in her brain?
Don’t worry, there’s actually a removable display it can connect to.
The iPatch.
It’s the little touches that really make this comic.
Such as the fact that they needed 4 different cables to connect the tablet and phone together.
Also – I’m looking forward to some Terminator-style Larisa-Vision.
OK, who did not see this coming? I mean it is only logical. Also, I still favor telling Cloud’s mom and sister. It would hurt less, at least for Larissa.
If I had something like this, I’d want an app that let me overlay cross-hairs over people or objects in my vision, and then display the words, “TARGET LOCKED.”
Why do I feel like this will be the end of larisa? =(
Autoskip wrote:
I guess a Larisa-Vision would outline all flamable objects in sight 🙂
@ Zeterai:
Haha xD
I laughed more than I should have!
@ Sgt_flyer:
You mean, every object in sight?
Is it really wrong if I say that I really want this? 😀
Evil! I like that!
Shut up and take my money!
Well at lest you don´t need to worry some one read over your shoulder on the phone 😛
Larisa! Get out of there, Woo can save Sandra.
Since we’re talking about Futurama references, this is one of the few times the statement “Good news! It’s a suppository.” would actually be true.
@ Autoskip: Weird, why on Earth would Steve make two devices that needed 4 cables to connect, I mean at most it should only ever take two. Also does anyone know what that ligature/character in front of Phone is?
@ Trackman1997:
They could make a cable to connect directly, but these four already exist so they go with that.
The letter looks like a blackletter H (for Hell) to me,
H-phone.
Hey, where’s the transcript?
1TB? 3GB RAM in an iPhone would show it off as being from some far off fantastical future. The heat death of the Universe would predate Apple bumping up to a Terabyte.
Pretty sure Larisa would consider it worth it, if she so willingly worked with the Devil to save Sandra anyway.
Also, uh, CALLED IT. I KNEW it would be about what they do rather than where they are.
@ Bob:
Well, I mean, it probably runs on demonic power and other things. I could see it being able to have a high amount of storage.
I would kill for a Retina display. Because my eyes are broken anyways so it would be an upgrade.
And yes, my sight is borderline blind.
I guess Larisa doesn’t have an ….eye for technology.
I’ll see myself out.
Autoskip wrote:
I have nothing to add; you read my mind! Except for one thing…
😀 They couldn’t do the data transfer over Bluetooth! 😀
Ohh, how much I despise Apple.
Hot damn I’d totally be down for a cybereye or two.
@ Lucario:
My first thought as well.
As the Meatwad once said: ‘It’ll only hurt once. But, damn, is it gonna hurt!’
No one seems to have noticed or remembered that screens are not just for display but for input and control as well. So how are you going to control this device – gouge your eyeballs?
Is this karma for when she put Landon’s hand on fire?
@ TheSkulker:
It’s probably gesture controlled. After all, it can likely see anything you can.
HOW did they get it that powerful? 4tb ram? 1thz CPU? And what must the memory be like?!? Why do you even need 4tb ram? Most computers need 8gb, 16gb at max if you want to be able to play any game ever.
@ JjKnowles:
It got that powerful because it was made by demons, of course.
And, believe it or not, programs dedicated to cheating fate and defying God’s will take up quite a lot of space.
But no headphone jack. 😛
@ Zeterai:
patrick approves of this pun
Indeed. Even with the pain, I guarantee it would be a best-seller. Of course, the number of accidents while texting–eyeing–would increase, but hey, best-seller!@ Phyrexian_Rogue:
@ Zeterai:
That is gold right there.
I’m looking forward to pyrocyborg Larisa.
Just hope she doesn’t end up looking like Seven of Nine!
Guy can work on his bedside manner. Whatever happened to “Prince of Lies”?
I was wondering if the new i phone has like, eardrum sound function, like won’t that be awesome? pure noise elimination, we can feel the sound and rythm rippling through our veins?
Maybe this is because I’m a radio nerd but I did a look up…
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromagnetic_spectrum
…confirming that at 1 THz the processor was clocked to the wavelength of
infrared light!
So apparently the phone has optical circuitry rather than electrical…
As for why no Bluetooth transfer…the phone was acquired through a carrier
that disables all features that might compete with something they can charge
you extra to use. ^_-
As for why you need 4TB of RAM…
…didn’t some guy (Bill Gates) once ask why anyone would need a computer
with more than 640K of RAM? ^_^
I don’t know the answer but lets check back in 20 years or so and someone
will probably know. ^_-
…wait, does this have the potential to help with the blindness symptoms of Wolfram Syndrome?
@ EvilMidnightLurker:
It just overlaps the display of the phone, I think.
EvilMidnightLurker wrote:
Would the illness even apply to a succubus? I have the impression that Larisa isn’t all too intent on surviving this, at least not as a human.
Her remaining life is similar to that of a sickly person over 70. The syndrome doesn’t stick to isolated damage to sensory input. It would be a strange twist if this arc weren’t her turn to “die” — and become a succubus, which would bring us hilarious scenes with Landon’s mum.
I’m starting to wonder what smartphone Novil uses. The free-for-all on Steve Jobs makes me think he’s an Android fan. But the escalation makes me think it’s a bit more… personal than that.
I don’t know if others had the same, but I’ve had eye surgery. So the psychosomatic pain is even more real because I’ve experienced it.
