There are five new polls that appear randomly in the voting widget on the left sidebar:
- What’s your opinion of 2016?
- How many visual novels have you played so far?
- How many other countries have you visited (at least two full days) so far?
- How old is your PC?
- How old is your laptop?
- Seeoahtlahmakaskay: Now that Thomas J. God’s reign of terror is over, humanity can breathe a sigh of relief!
- Seeoahtlahmakaskay: With their new god, humanity can look forward to a long period of peace and–
- John J. God: … That means I now have the power to crush my enemies, see them driven before me, and hear the lamentations of their women?!
- Ratatoskr: Technically, yes.
- Seeoahtlahmakaskay: Or not.
- Seeoahtlahmakaskay: You humans really have the worst luck with your gods.
A slight bit more vetting might have been an idea…
@ Vidad:
Agreed
@ Vidad:
Upper management should really get on that.
Next time. Get a Hippe for the job
Oh man, I’ve played a ton of visual novels.
I even have 57 visual novels that I want to read but waiting for my eyes to stabilize first. Got Lasik done on both eyes last week, after I finished re-reading Rewrite for the second time. So it’s kind of hard to read when one eye sees somewhat perfectly while the other still sees a bit blurry. The higher your prescription, the more times it takes to stabilize… both eyes had different prescription so.. yeah. Doesn’t help that it’s my “lazy” eye and not the “dominant” one, so it takes even more time
Shoulda made Larissa the new god.
*thinks about Larissa’s pyromania*
Well…maybe?
Wouldn’t matter who they picked anyway, “Power Corrupts. Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely.”
They should have sought a Jainist for the job. They’re known for highly pacifistic, gentle nature, and love for all life.
Yeah, I used the survey form, but I just need to add some thoughts on a few questions…
* What’s your opinion of 2016?
– It just got worse. 🙁
* How many other countries have you visited (at least two full days) so far?
– Tricky one. Do countries that weren’t independent when I visited them, but did it in the meantime count? 😀 Yeah, I’m from Balkans. 🙂
* How old is your PC?
– Which component are you referring to? 🙂
Am i only one who will never abuse my powers if i was god? i mean what’s even point anymore, i am all supreme, hell i would stop feeling bad from insults, instead i’d focus my rage at dropping lightning of criminals and terrorists, hell yeah.
So I guess this is John Jay’s god?
…hmm. Apparently John Jay was a mainstream Episcopalian who believed the nascent US should propagate and be run according to Christian principles and wanted to ban Catholics from public office. So… sounds about right.
And this why more one god on earth because if one has too much they become corrupt somehow.
I can’t be blamed,
I did put in a complaint to upper management.
not my fault if they didn’t listen

Do you have any idea how many hippies grew up and became conservatives?
I wonder what it counts like when I have a really big laptop (like 15 inches big) pretty much stationary for years and trying to be a PC. And I had another laptop that actually worked as a laptop but there’s been some problems with its
(The big one is a bit under 8 years old. The other one is older.)
For countries – is it two days cumulative, or in a row? And does it count if I never went out of the train?
(Though either way it’s at least 5, and either way it’s less than 10, so that doesn’t really matter.)
On deities – they could have done worse. At least they didn’t choose Melody Crawford…
Apparently I’m not allowed to edit my post, and I didn’t look through it very carefully.
What I meant to say was, I had another laptop that actually worked as a laptop but there’s been some problems with its ventilation system and it hadn’t actually been used lately.
Also, another comment on deities – I’m not actually seeing an evil guy here. I’m seeing an adult male version of the Empress of Northia, and some reasonable overreaction from the two nearby deities.
At least it’s not Ye Thuza. She might well have done something similar genuinely.
@ Vidad: Well maybe he’ll be the type of god who’s only cruel to his enemies and maybe his enemies could be put down on a small list. And maybe he won’t gain anymore enemies.
Well one could hope, or actually check, but that’s effort and like those gods will actually spend that effort. Is it too late to revoke godhood?
Btw, who’s Conan the barbarian? I thought the new god was John Medley?
@ Trackman1997:
This strip features a quote from the movie Conan the Barbarian.
“What is best in life?”
“To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women.”
@Yue You had lasic done it both eyes at the same time? who the hell is your doctor, last i heard that was a BIG NO NO, cause if anything goes wrong you could wind up permanently blind

Well as Winston Churchill once said… who is not socialist at 20 has no heart, who is socialist at 30 has no reason.
Clouds Mom, Yuna or Landon would have been better choices. At least the first one would do what this chucklehead is going to do on people who deserve it. And with Landon he would be around for as long as Succubus Larisa meaning neither would have to lose the other.
Just a question… why is the comic in English but the gray words that credits the comics are in German?
@ MathAddict:
The author of the comic is German, but the comic is set in America and written in English.
Heh neat Conan reference. I was wondering why ratatoskor or hermese wasn’t delivering the message, good to see he’s keeping busy.
@ Dave:
“Hot Water, Good Dentistry, and Soft Lavatory Paper.”
What the first three posters said. Then again, considering the human race in general, most likely we’d end up with a god like this no matter what.
Well Seeoahtlahmakaskay, that’s what happens when you don’t screen your candidates and hire on the basis of asking them…
I saw the squirrel and thought “Is that who I think it is?!?” go the script and saw the name and nearly squeed.
Maybe it’s the “J. God” part that makes them evil
FUN FACT (aka opinion): if you actually care about the emoji movie, your 2016 was NOT really a bad year.
Soo who is picking these people for the job again ? They are really not good.
The credits for this comic are in German

Yay for Ratatoskr! 🙂
Of course we have the worse luck with our god(s), They are chosen among humans!
To really have one to be God, he or she needs to be someone not us at all and have pure dedication to the greater good regardless of race or politics and have zero emotion – there is no such human among us at all. We as a species suck at lordly over anything.
Having said that, seeoahtlahmakaskay should have maintained her position and assess what is really needed for the job to be able to make a better informed choice. Then again, I would welcome seeoahtlahmakaskay as my new lord and master because seeoahtlahmakaskay seems to have a better handle on things. Look at the racoon race, they are doing better than us.
Interesting human choices for the role: Dwayne Johnson, Pope Francis, David Suzuki
Interesting fictional/nonhuman choices for the role: Spock, Goku, Kusuo Saiki, Maxima (Grrl Power)
Well, at least this John guy does have a sense of humor.

Choosing non-human as a human god seems like the right choise, but it is not necessarily so, at least in this case. The hardest thing is to define .human ideals, biases and values correctly. There are multiple bad stories about being careful what you wish for, where humans fail to transfer this crucial information during a simple-wishing procedure with some non-human entity.
Having an ex-human as a wish fulfillment machine does not require this data transfer, making things much simpler, even considering the obvious drawbacks.

Some Deities just want to watch the world burn. Larissa wants to take a flamethrower to it…
The Klingons at least had the sense to *kill* all of their gods…
As they say, ultimate power ultimately corrupts, even worse if u give it to a lawyer….
PC: 2006.
Laptop: 2011.
The effect of playing Katawa Shoujo on my social understanding of disabled people? Ageless.
There are some things that can eventually be allowed to die. For everything else, there’s VirtualBox.
At least the new God knows what’s best in life.
the problem with most gods is that they are just bigger and more powerful versions of people, with equally bloated egos and faults.
Give me the job. After the smiting is over, the seven humans left will be supremely happy.
If they know what’s good for them.
So…humanity will remain the same under the rule of this god, then?… Can he at least allow one day wherein we can commit any crime we want?
@ Vidad:
it could have been worse, they could have chosen Yuna.
@ Thisguy:
Yes but we just watched the previous God die clearly his power isn’t absolute
Just offer the job to Yuna. Or maybe Cloud.
But you know what? Most people are rather short-sighted with the whole godly powers thing. Why bother using them for destruction? After you are done destroying things, you just get bored. If you don’t destroy things, you can continue to be amused by the things you didn’t go destroy.
But really, the real fun would be in creative powers. You can only have so much fun blowing up mountains if you’ve seen a mountain blow up before. But try making a mountain sometime. Each time you make one, it can be a whole different experience as you design each and every nook and cranny, and the life forms that happen to live in different parts of it.
