- Echo: Look how these people are fighting over some foliage in the garden!
- Shadow: Nasty!
- Echo: Compared to humans, we foxes are truly civilized!
- Shadow: You can say that again, darling!
- Echo: Now give me that leg or I’ll bite off your head!
- Shadow: Ha! You couldn’t bite off the head of a mouse with those weak jaws of yours!

Seriously Echo, since when was animals even remotely close to civilized? Egoism, fighting and brutality is what it is about.
well everyone is civilized I suppose… in their own uncivilized way…
Aww It has been long since we last saw Echo and Shadow. Good to see them again 🙂
God it’s been a while since we last saw Shadow and Echo.
civility has grown too be a rare trait in this day and age, when people forget that speaking in a peace full and orderly manner is partly what makes a civilization civilized.
Although the guy with the tree would have avoided a lot hassle if he had follow the tree planting guide line and plant the tree one meter away from the wall for every meter the tree grows in height.
And to give an example of what I speak of is, a tree that grows to be 5 meters tall should be planted 5 meters away from the neighbors wall.
@ A hobbyist:
The tree could just have easily been there when the property lines were set. Regulations mean nothing to Mother Nature.
Thats good life advice. Only date people who’s jaws cant bite your head off.
Reminds me of a certain French press speaker who once invited a Turkish singer, telling him about how Turks were known as barbaric. The artist, Barış Manço, made ’em show French money bills with pictures of historical war generals on them; then pulled out Turkish liras with images of famous philosophers and scientists.
(Not gonna pretend my people were angelic peacekeepers, but modern-day people oughta stop perpetuating propaganda from the Middle Ages.)
How uncivilized…
@ A hobbyist:
Maybe the tree was already there when he bought the lot.
@ Crystalgate:
However some humans who never worked with them or had one tend to claim the opposite. Agh, it must be great to live in a completly black and white world;)
Wait, what happened to the young Sandra and Larisa story arc?
@ Ephesus:
Agreed. Though in this specific case, your current president seems to be aiming to live up to that propaganda despite your best effots.

I’m so happy to see them back!
@ Ephesus:
Well there weren’t ANY angelic peacekeepers in Middle Ages. It’s why they are also called Dark.
Civilization is in the eye of the beholder.
@ Crystalgate:
at least animals only fight for whats truly important – food, territory, survival – and not about nonsense like falling leafs, insults, which sports team is better, ect.

He’s technically just a puppet so he’s not quite “aiming for” anything, tbh. That is if you don’t count “keeping my family and party members in positions of power” as an aim.

The effect was somewhat ruined with the partition of India and the mass murder of Hindus by Muslims and vice versa. it was extremely ugly.
The humans fight hostilly over a petty squablle. The animals semi-friendily over an importan life-sustaining reason.
Forgive me if it isn’t the point of the comic, but I don’t really think the animals are hypocritical here.
@ Tyler Robert Johnson:
this is a guideline that is intended to avoid any complaints from potentially angry neighbors and is by no means written in the law as far as I understand it, with the only real exception being if you let it grow out over a government owned road at which point they will either cut any protruding branches off and make you pay for their time or they will strait up fine you for it.
@ Asrial:
that does strike me as highly unlikely considering this refusal cut down that tree. That sort of stubbornness does not come about, from an old tree that was there from the previous owner of the land. No he planted that tree there and now refuses too remove it, in all likelihood because it took
years to grow. But I do however see how it is possible that he planted that tree there in the hopes that it will drive his neighbor to buy a house elsewhere, on account of how he behaves when agitated. but I must say I think it’s far more likely that he just planted it there and now is to lazy to trim it down.
Can we get a full arc with Echo in it? It’s been too long.
@ Ephesus:
43 and 40 were puppets. 45 is an egotist. If 45 were a puppet we wouldn’t be seeing the purges of White House staff we’ve been seeing lately. The best (and most chilling) description of 45 I’ve read is that he is the archetypal Clown, both unbelievable buffoonery and nightmarishly horrifying. It’s hard to take him seriously, but if you don’t you’ll never wake up.
