[0959] A Time For Coolness

I really like how the advertising posters turned out. Here are the originals:
- Larisa: You’ll love these alternative facts about–
- Sandra: Give me a break!
- Sandra: Your inane fake news campaign is counterproductive! Instead, you’re supposed to show that I’m the most competent candidate with the best policies!
- Larisa: Oh.
- Election poster: Zoey – is my choice in ’18
- Election poster: A TIME FOR COOLNESS – IRVINE FOR CLASS REP
- Election poster: More experiments in chemistry class! – TAY
- Election poster: Good grades for everybody! – TAY
- Larisa: I’m not sure if I can do that with a good conscience. Even I have my limits.
- Sandra: Which side are you on, anyway?!
Good grates? People actually care about grates?
What is Sandra’s policies anyway? Regardless, yeah, Sandra may not be a good class rep.

To those who came here later… there was a typo…

Well, sure, if you have some parmesan for your spaghetti.

Muahahah too late!
Seems like Larissa has ethical standards against lying, after all. Pity it doesn’t extend to lying about the *other* candidates…?

Seems like it was corrected swiftly, having such a responsive artist is grate.
…was that a bit cheesy?
Remind me: is Irvine Zoey’s surname, or is that someone else? I tried to search for it but found only a passing mention in Under a Killer Balloon, which seems to refer to an event that we never saw in the comic.
…Oh, by going through Zoey’s tag I’ve just found [0456] Evolution I, which gives her surname as “Irwin”. @Novil, it seems like this is indeed meant to be her surname, but you might want to fix up some strips including possibly this one to make it consistent.

“Not lying about your friends” looks like positive personal trait to me.
Doesn’t have to extend to whole school, however!
Larissa just BURNED Sandra!
So are you still trying to posit that Sandra isn’t a stand-in for Trump?
“Vote Tay Today!”
In the 80’s we used to say: “Power auf der Mauer für Konrad Adenauer!”. Adenauer and Erhard – my childhood heroes.
But let’s not forget Spliff with: “Herr Kennedy, wir lieben Sie!”
Does a class representative even have any real power?
@ Asrial:
Not in my country at least. I have no idea about the US, but I have a hard time imagining they can enforce anything at all, much less “policies”.
In Germany, a single class representative doesn’t really have that much power. The school representative (that is elected by all class representatives) on the other hand is member of the school-conference that is one of the highest boards within a school. they have a say in decisions like starting time of classes and who becomes the principal. it depends on the federal country in Germany what power they actually have and how many students are part of it, but in my federal country a third of the members are students. Another third are parents and the rest are teachers and the principal.
For those of you that speak german: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schulkonferenz
Even Larissa’s got standards – also she can’t do the impossible.
Elon Musk has started to sell flame throwers (misserable range since no napalm) but there is solution to any problem…
wait, what does TAY stand for?
@ Frank:
It’s short for “Taylor”, his name that is.
Good grads is something I could use right now.

So is she going to be Zoey Irvine now, or is it going to be changed back to Irwin?
Irvine? Is that a typo?
@ Trevyn Case:
I don’t know, Taylor’s policy of giving good grades to the student who spent their time bullying the smart kids who actually worked for it, while penalizing the smarter students who earned their high grades with something lower… Does seem like a thing Corbyn would advocate for.
Additionally, Zoey’s money saving idea involving pencils without rubber tips, and a lack of rubbers in general, smacks of how the Tories shot off their entire foot last year. I’ve had to erase things without an eraser and, well, it hurts even after the skin regrows. If only “I haven’t got a rubber” was an acceptable excuse to being unable to rub something out in schools.
I could be revealing my stupidity here, but what does TAY stand for/
@ Charlie:
Taylor.
