- Student: Thank you for complaining to the principal about Mrs. Gallagher’s math tests.
- Sandra: You’re welcome.
- Sandra: I feel all warm and fuzzy inside. It feels really good to have helped your fellow men.
- Sandra: No, wait… it’s a different kind of feeling. It’s… It’s…
- Sandra: … the feeling of power!
- Luna: These two are easily confused.

Oh no, Sandra, don’t lose your way!
Power… Unlimited Poweeeeeer!
I really like the tag “Angela Merkel” because of the gesture Sandra is making in the last Panel.
@ CrixStox:
Actually that gesture is not just angela merkels
not sure about other countries but in poland the gesture’s name is (literally translated) tower.
A gesture of authority and certainty.
@ CrixStox:
Sandra streichelt
Power corrupts.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
I didn’t think it would happen to Sandra so quickly though.
The only question now is who or what will puncture her balloon.
I don’t think most of us would enjoy reading a web-comic where Sandra has gone totally and irrevocably over to the Dark Side. (Though Woo might be willing to cut her some slack so long as he gets fed.)
The facial change between panel 2 (squooshy) and panel 4 (realization of power) is a little… …ominous.
Uhoh, she’s hooked now.

Thank you, that makes sense now… for some reason I thought the boy’s name was Angela Merkel and was thinking he probably had worse problems in school than math tests. Reminded me of a song (more of a ballad) really called “A Boy Name Sue”
Luna: Just… don’t do the-
Sandra: Muhahahahahaaa! BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAA!!!
Luna: -supervillain laugh… like that… 🙁
>:=)>
I think Larissa will save her.
last panel:
YOU KNOW SHE HAD TO DO IT TO EM

Did the boy end up suing his parents?
Reminds me of a T-shirt I once saw with this saying:
“Absolute power corrupts absolutely. However, it also absolutely kicks ass.”

Much better. Johnny Cash live at San Quentin
So she’s going to make Cloud her slave?
She’s making Merkel’s hand gesture already!
Wow. 1st day and corrupted already ??
Join the Dark Side, Sandra. We have cookies.
(Sandra is secretly Novil)
The Empress of Northia returns!
Oh no, the corruption has begun…>_<
But what’s wrong with difficult maths tests?!
Can we get a tag for peanut for the face sandra is pulling on the second panel
Brijeka Vervix wrote:
The impression I got was that they were deliberately set at a level far above where they are. Remember that the bonus question was something that the best mathematicians hadn’t solved yet. Those sort of tests would be demotivating to a lot of people.
With great power must come great responsibility.
Heh, I love hos she has the “triange of power” of Merkel! 😀

Considering the presence Merkel had before the pre-electoral coaching, its kind of understandable why these gestures are sort of standardized. If you’re aiming for a leadership position, you need to make people feel that you’re capable of handling it, and with the high visual standards imposed by moderm media, that ultimately comes down to getting coaching for how to present yourself as a potential leader.
As I understand that gesture is essentially a method of avoiding nervous hand movements that would undermine the suitable impression.
As a counter-example consider the Austrian ex-prime-minister Gusenbauer, who ended up being stereotyped into a “playground sandbox” level of being-not-taken-serious.

To be honest, Angela Merkel is an extremely weak chancellor. She doesn’t have much power at all. That’s why I never understand why she is often called the “most powerful” woman in the world, which she surely isn’t.
In fact, she even has difficulties gathering a majority or creating a government. Even the government right now might break apart in only a few months time. She constantly changes her political views depending on what major newspapers write on that day. She can’t even enforce the most simple laws.
Only Sandra could confuse Gratitude with Power. Which is a good thing, cause it means she’ll try to gather as much “gratitude” as she can for supreme dominance!
Arent wrote:
It depends on how you define power. She doesn’t really have a policy,so she can change her opinions without problems.
Uh-oh. Don’t do it, Sandra. Don’t let the power corrupt you.
Next strip: the dialectic between the pleasure of power and the power of pleasure.
Regis Earsquake wrote:
I would define power as the ability to get your way 😉 I’m pretty sure that Angela Merkel is a big fan of both nuclear power and borders. But she doesn’t have the power to simply do what she wants.
Don’t know why this turned out bold…
@ Edda:
What do you mean corruptED so quickly? She was corrupt ages ago, Larrisa is the devil on people’s shoulder, Sandra is the devil on people’s other shoulder.
@ SlugFiller:
Oh man I think I know that song.
@ Kaworu: Specifically the “Triangle” of Power #IlluminatiConfirmed
Is that what class reps do? Complain about tests?
This is no power, this is useless. What could the principal do?
@ cathulion:
Here it’s called the diamond of consistency, because only Merkel uses it here, and she’s known to never ever let anything change at all, because every change could possibly be a negative one, so better not change anything at all, that way at least it can’t get any worse.
@ Kaworu:
Moreover, the Triangle od Power is a concept in mathematics as well and we are in the first panel again: .
@ JacobStepo:
Oops, I did not post the link: Triangle of Power

Student Government often have the right to attend certain meeting of the school administration meeting to represent the student body.
Which is where the power of complaint lies, as the representative they have access to the people than can do something if aware of the problem.
And that the function of class rep, to represent the class in matters of administration.
I think it is interesting that Luna seems to have insight in the matter. I wonder if it is a coincidence that the final remark comes from her. She does not seem the most obvious person to have experienced this “confusion” herself, but perhaps she has…
“Those two are easily confused”
That was the punchline and the hidden joke, right?

Now I cannot comment on whether inverse trig identities were appropriate for Sandra’s class (although they are rather simple to me), I disagree with you on the matter of the bonus question. While it has yet to be proved, I believe that presenting it to maths students who do not know this and asking them to try and prove it could actually teach them quite a lot and even if they will inevitably fail, it would be a valuable mental exercise in the exploration of several mathematical concepts but also the futility of life!
I miss Zoey, now that Sandra’s in power… the Zoey revolution… *yes*
And…she’s gone mad with power instantaneously.
Ah, yes, the legendary Merkel-Raute.
