[0987] Direct Approach

- Luna: Ooh, look at those super cute boys!
- Larisa: Yes, they’re really cute! Would you like one of them as your boyfriend?
- Luna: Yeah…!
- Larisa: Hey, boys! Would any of you want this sweet girl here as your girlfriend? She thinks you’re really cute!
- Luna: EEP!
- Boy #1: Sure, she’s pretty!
- Boy #2: Yeah, I love latinas!
- Boy #3: Yes, I like her coy smile.
- Luna: That’s not how it works!
- Larisa: I think it worked very well!
- Boy #1: What’s your name?
With the art style progressing further and further throughout the years i’ve been reading this, I wonder how much time is supposed to have passed for the characters.
Love Luna’s blush.
She really isn’t used to Larissa’s methods yet.
Luna is the shy one, while Larissa obviously is not, even without her becoming or being a succubus.
Very strange to have the first response.
@ Wrimere:
How long does one stay in a water paradise?
Huh, did not realize Luna was supposed to be Latina. 😛
I’m not sure why, but I assumed she was primarily native american ethnicity.
I often wonder how much easier dating would be if people were a little more direct like this. I mean seriously how many relationships don’t happen cause nether of them have the courage to just say the damned thing!

Sandra was eleven when the comic started and she turned 13 not too long ago, so I’d say about two years.
I vote for boy #3. His is the response I would be too shy to say.
Match made!

I thought she was 12 when the comic started.
Larisa is best matchmaker. 😉
Larisa, you are taking all the fun out of it.
The middle one’s response could be considered kinda creepy, but the other two… Especially the tall one…

No, she’s taking all of the angst out of it. At least the first steps. And that’s a good thing. And before you say that angst is a good thing, that’s only if you’re not the one experiencing it, and you enjoy other people’s discomfort.
And Larisa demonstrates, once again, her utterly shameless nature. I tend to think that I’m shameless, but then I read S&W and realize just how far I have to go….
@ M. Mitchell Marmel:
It’s hard to argue with results.
@ Wolfhowl:
I’d kind of assumed she was Latina, although I don’t think she’s been explicitly described as such until now.
Man, if ONLY it were that easy!
Larissa’s expression in panel 3 as she thinks “mission accomplished” is great. Add some horns and a spiked tail.
I’m guessing the devil is watching closely now.
Segev wrote:
Well in ideal world it would be…
“I love Latinas” ooooh this one is going to end up alone.
@ Wolfhowl:
The line between can be very blurry. Particularly here in the west.
Amazingly this would probably work at least fairly well, maybe not as well as it works here, but still pretty well. From my experience (and from being one), males tend to prefer a direct approach. It’s like Larisa mentioned in one of her dating guides, we can be kind of oblivious so it helps to be direct about what you want.
I wish the direct approach worked with me. But alas, my ugly mug scares people away
@ Wolfhowl:
I also assumed the same thing, being that I’m pretty familiar with both of them irl…
Luna: “That’s not how it works.”
Luna, Luna, Luna… the traditional way is how it doesn’t work. Larissa’s right, this is how it -does- work.
So my suspicions are confirmed.
Luna is a Latina.
You can’t argue with results, only the way you got them.
This is just Larisa, I take it, instead of the succubus
@ Segev:
It is that easy. Might result in a quick break-up a lot of the time, but so long as both acknowledge that and are okay with that, it’s that easy.
I suppose that Larisa favours the direct approach because it worked so well for her – if she hadn’t made the first move with Landon, he probably wouldn’t have imagined he had a chance with a girl like her, and nothing would have happened.
@ Wolfhowl:
I always thought she was supposed to be Asian, myself. Guess they got us both, huh?
Just read all 987 pages in 4 days, I’m definetly crazy, but his comic is so amazing!!! I love all the characters and I can’t wait for the next page 🙂
“Yes, I like her coy smile.” great compliment…. except it’s a lie.
with the information we have. events in chronological order.
1. The boys were not looking at Luna.
2. Larissa Happened.
3. Luna feels and looks mortified/horrified.
4. Boy compliments Luna on a non-existent smile.
=> the boy lied.
not to say he couldn’t have seen her earlier, this is just in the info we have.
Well looking from side lines is surely NOT how it works…
@ Wolfhowl:
Depending on your definition of “Native American”, most Hispanics are to one degree or another of Native American ethnicity. Not that much different racially between a Mohawk and a Mayan.

Psssh, I read through all the strips in 2 days. Step up your game, bro.
@ donut70:
Didn’t you see their gestures? They were with 90% chance discussing the two girls.
I’d love it if dating was that easy in real life. In my experience most people aren’t that direct.
It’s super effective! I approve.
@ rvman:
Well, I define Native American as the people that lived in the Americas before the European colonial period.
And Latinas/Hispanic ethnicity as people who come from the Iberian peninsula (Spain/Portugal) or can trace their lineage back to it. Like many of their former colonies.
Of course since races mix a lot, in practice if you had to define someone’s race you’d go after which of their physical traits are more dominant. In any case the ethnicity is only really important if the person has a strong cultural identity that’s important to her/himself. 😛 Easier to just call the girl by her name. 😀

Well We were Told her Surname was Herrera in [0651] which is a strong indication 8) that she latina assuming she doesn’t identify as Hispanic 8)
@ donut70:
In panel 1, the boy points a thumb over his shoulder, possibly at Luna smiling.
@ Wolfhowl:
Latina and Native American are the same thing.
So… will our little succubus next try to convince Luna and her three boyfriends to have a “sixsome” with herself and Landon?

2 days?
1.
I’m disappointed.
It was such a lovely knot. Everyone knew Gordia all over because of it, and now there it is. Lying in two pieces and still partially on fire. Thanks a LOT, Larisa.

Hey, I just did the speedrun. I got through them in 30 seconds! 🙂
With the way they adress her they seem like jerks. Sure, one of them actually asks for her name at the end, but other than that they seem to look at her more as a thing.
Richard Sheaves-Bein wrote:
The shortest amount of time it takes to get from one strip to the next is around one second. If you were to go through 1000 strips as fast as possible your time at the end would be around 17 minutes. So your run is impossible for 1000 strips%

thank you for pointing out the thumb, that is an indicator yes, though not a definite one.
Remember: just because one boy says “Latina” doesn’t *mean* she’s Latina.
The succubus is right again, lol.
Luna has a nice ass.
@PJizzles
Oh no, don’t dare to say it out loud! You gotta enjoy such attention to detail silently, lest half the commenters here leap onto their moral highground to condemn your deviant ways, for daring to sexualize such youthful fictional characters, despite the comic itself often casting its sexual themes and other topics such commenters would be very uncomfortable with, who probably like to imagine such characters as pure sexless angels, until, I dunno, they turn 18 and suddenly become magically enlightened to the ways of adulthood.
Well, okay, I’ll be honest, any comment starting with “__ has a nice ass” is pretty damn disappointing.
2/10 low effort, you should write a poem about her ass instead. I do really appreciate all the subtle linework in the inking. Powree has really improved over the years.
