There is a new poll in the voting widget in the left sidebar:
- What is your all-time favorite story arc?
- Zoey: The world’s greatest minigolf player Zoey Irwin is getting ready for the deciding putt. Sinking a putt from this distance is, of course, a big challenge!
- Michelle: That’s a four inch putt, Tiger.
- Zoey: The world’s greatest minigolf player Zoey Irvine is completely unfazed by her former best friend’s antizoeytic hate speech. She takes a swing and…!
- Zoey: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
- Michelle: The world’s loudest minigolf player shows what she’s made of!
She is unfriending people left and right…
Guess this confirms that her last name really is Irvine, then.
….er…..wait. First panel says “Irwin”, second panel says “Irvine”. Whuh?!
@ NewEraOutlaw:
She’ll go through all the Clan Irvine Septs before this golf match is through.

That is called “consistency”
Novil is just messing with us at this point.
Nooooo! Please stop bullying Zoey! It’s not fair!

Some people just can’t handle even minor pressure.
Oh boy, the world’s full on into getting Zoey miserable.
Thought they were dating? Or was that one comic strip not canon?
So… Did she unfriend Michelle only JUST NOW, or as soon as she saw her again after the class president election?
@ tofei:
I know right. Zoey deserves better.
knite wrote:
It was not. The context of that strip very strongly hinted towards it not being canon and we got confirmation later when Zoey said “If she can’t be my lover…”.

Just now and it’s not meant to be taken serious. It’s just part of Zoey’s narrative.

Apparently she was a little fazed.

Gotta agree with Larisa: I’d feel worse if she was a little nicer.
That ball pretty much went “NOPE.”
Zoey still suffers the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.
It seems she isn’t quite ready to let us know her last name yet.
anti-zoeic hate speech?
what is she a people now? does she have multiple personalities?
You’re overthinking it…Relax…Become one with the ball… don’t think, just do…You can…
Okay, so Zoey plays minigolf as badly as I do. At least I’ve learned to have fun while sometimes blowing crucial putts.
I’m surprised Michelle didn’t have a response to being called ‘former’ best friend. She was the girl Zoey had the hots for, right? Does Michelle even understand why she’s being called ‘former’? Or was that just supposed to be a response to what Michelle said in the first panel? I figured it was a response to what Zoey learned after the election.
Though I get that Zoey is the main antagonist on the comics, I don’t think she’s really done anything to deserve all the hate she gets from everyone around her.

But we saw that Zoey and Michelle were still able to talk casually in ‘Sunglasses’ strip, so my guess is either Zoey demote Michelle as her regular friend, or it was just a part of her narrative(like what Crystalgate said). But it was a guess so I might be wrong.
That last panel reminds me of a scene from “Caddy Shack” where the priest is playing a great round of golf during a hurricane type storm and he misses his last put. That was pretty much his reaction.
@ Shark:
She’s done literally nothing except supposedly be popular and laugh at Sandra for doing stupid stuff a couple of times. Poor Zoey! Zoey bashing must stop!
To me, Zoey is the most endearing character in the whole strip, simply because she acts as a straight man….er girl to a lot of the cast’s wacky shenanigans. The fact that whatever can go wrong can go wrong with her only makes her even more so.
The only misstep you can take with her as a character is to have her do something to intentionally make people dislike her (like that feminist who took over Sandra’s class and picked on Cloud.) To me, she strikes a nice balance in the comic. Just about any strip with her in it tends to be a fun read.
With that said, Zoey spin-off comic when?
@ NewEraOutlaw:
Wholeheartedly agreed. I always appreciate the “straight man” among a cast of weirdos. Even when they are neither a man, nor straight. :p
@ Ilmari:
They both like girls right?
@ Ilmari:
Bahaha!
Okay, you got me. =P
At least she didn’t scream it doesn’t count.
@ NewEraOutlaw:
The ‘inner dialog’ is Zoey’s fantasy; the reference is to the legendary Hale Irwin. 😉
So with the scream covering the text, I saw an “o” and an “l” and, my filthy mind being what it is, assumed Michelle called Zoey “this asshole”. My mistake. Thanks for the supplementary comic text, fellas.
