- Sandra: Oh, great! Another filler instead of a new strip!
- Sandra: I could understand posting all these fillers, if the author would be working on something special. Like an anthology to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his webcomic on October 19th.
- Woo: That would be sweet!
- Sandra: Ha, who am I kidding?! He probably spends all his time drinking and looking at dirty pictures on the internet!
- Woo: Webcomic authors are a pathetic bunch!

Pathetic, they are.
…
Yoda, I am.
This needs to be tagged either “hypocritical humor” or “humorous self-deprecation”. Or “meta”.
It’s ironic because I actually appreciate the break from the endless stream of bikinis.
These confuse me a little bit. Don’t the filler strips still take time to draw? Or is it just because they’re simpler than the planned strip? :O
@ CrescentScript:
Excellent question i always wondered about the same
@ CrescentScript:
I’m pretty sure this is a dialog swap of an older comic so i’m guessing this took under 10 minutes to make
Another self deprecation filler strip… Somewhat disappointing… But I need stuff to cheer me up on Monday Mornings.
“One of us! One of us!”

I honestly feel the same way desu
You know, with everything going on over in Gunnerkrigg Court right niw, Larissa and her penchant for fire could be useful right about now.
Just sayin’ in case a road trip arc would help.
If you think this is filler, wait until you see the comic on October 19.

How can you not love bikinis?
@ AnotherBear:
Because they’re twelve.
@ AnotherBear:
It’s not that I don’t love bikinis, it’s just that it’s just been bikinis for the past several strips and nothing else really interesting. Bikinis are cool and all, but so far it’s just been Sandra and Zoey doing whatever they’re doing for far too long and it feels like they’re in bikinis just for the sake of being in bikinis. If we had something interesting going on like plot or plot, it wouldn’t be that bad, but that’s not really happening. It’s kinda boring TBH.
Also…
@ Pax:
They’re actually thirteen…
Whoooo! Porn!

I do love how well Sandra and the others are aged; if you head through the strips over the course of a few days/weeks, you don’t notice, but if you go from arc to arc, you can them them slowly changing.
I can’t help but wonder why some of y’all aren’t reading novels instead of comics. 😉 🙂 🙂
Because ever since high school, whenever some English teacher tried to foist off a ‘great novel’ on me, all I got was either bored or disgusted. Lit-ra-chure sucks.
@ AnotherBear:
It feels like this arc is relying more on them to make it interesting rather than delivering an actually interesting story
also tbh, I thought they looked cuter in the polo shirts in the arc where Zoey falls in love with Michelle than they do in swimsuits
He’s probably distracted by constantly having to repair the 4th wall.
@ Leomon:
I suspect Larisa would have to seriously reevaluate her orientation if she ever met Annie.
@ Brijeka Vervix:
I’ve been finding the story reasonably entertaining and the bikinis merely a bonus, but I realize that’s strictly a matter of personal taste.
@ Wizard:
I would think that would apply to Kat more. I mean PazKat is absolutely adorable. Not even Larisa could resist at least considering it!
I see all the complaints about how boring this arc is, theres a little bit of humour in each one but because it isnt instant page after page i think thats why its loosing the flow a little, maybe the whole competition part of the arc could have been say 3 pages total, when its printed or someone new comes to it and its continous it will be better for them.
Try to appreciate the fanservice. After this, it’s going to be winter clothes until next year. And there’s no guarantee next year there will be another swimsuit arc.

Wouldn’t that be a good thing?

My guess is that Oliver and Powree create a filler or two on occasions when they have time to spend, and keep them in the drawer until needed.
@ Robert:
October 18th, the 19th is a Friday
That self awareness though. XD
I am gonna assume that the author is multi-tasking working, drinking and surfing p0rn :p

But… What if Gaia has a crossover comic on Friday?

Not sure the world could survive Loup and Larissa being in the same place together…
This strip needs to be reused over and over for filler content. All that needs to be done is replace the word bubbles for whatever filler scenario is needed.

Oh my, Wizard, this would end as the most fiery relationship ever. Coyote would love the idea, so much chaos (Loup too, though more for it being destructive as hell).
I can imagine Annie and Larissa chilling in the sun, Annie making fireballs and so on, and Larissa sitting in front of her, staring at fire in awe and pleading for bigger and stronger ones 😀
But I still have to admit Larissa and Landon are a really great match, even without fire powers 😉
I don’t see Larissa in any relationship where she isn’t in charge. Hell is in for a serious shock when she reports for duty.
Dirty pictures? Interesting… I also like those… some prefer videos though for some reason.

Drawing is only part of the work. Before you draw anything, you have to figure out the story, decide what part of the story you’re going to cover in that strip, create an intro link and outro link (to connect to strips before and after this one), and come up with at least one thing people can laugh at or enjoy. Even if you’ve already got the overall story arc planned and know what events you want to cover in the current script, you still have to write a mini-script for that strip, otherwise you end up having strips that advance the story, but are utterly boring and unejoyable on their own.
Novil:
I’m being very picky, but… the second panel is one of those cases where the subjunctive mood (despite its atrophied state in English) would actually sound a little more natural. In other words, “if were” rather than “if would be”. It’s not a huge difference, but it’s perceptible here.
@ Xezlec:
Oops, it deleted my angle brackets. That was supposed to read: “if (somebody) were” rather than “if (somebody) would be”.
Leomon wrote:
Kat and Paz are super cute together, but just imagine Larisa’s reaction if she ever saw Annie in full firebird mode.
Kuroneko wrote:
I would hate to break up Landon and Larisa, so it’s probably just as well that Annie has so far shown little interest in either boys or girls.

I’ve reached the end of the current comments, and no link to a previous strip. Disappointment.

Might be a strip that never was used because it did not turn out as good as expected… So it was saved to be used with new text as a filler when needed…
Brijeka Vervix wrote:
No. Why would less bikinis be a good thing?
@ EverydayNormalGuy:
The strip would instead have to rely on a good joke etc… rather than cheap, boring fanservice to be good
A moment later Sandra looked in the mirror and saw she had been repainted as a bizarre creature with a colorful hide, four flippers, a great daisy for a head, and a long tail tipped with a flag emblazoned with a baseball land a screw.
