Sadly, the US elections can’t turn out like this. For Americans at least.
This is what happens when u lose to a super prideful person :l
Oof, I wonder how Cloud will react when people try getting to him by poking fun at his girlfriend’s less than stellar kissing technique. Or how that will affect Sandra’s confidence in her relationship.
Exactly how insecure is Zoey? Goes this girl have no self-esteem at all, that she can only make herself feel good by tearing down other girls? Is she abused at home? Does she have a brain tumor?
Zoey needs help. Serious psychiatric work-over.
At first I thought it was Richard North (Sandra’s father) in the last panel (and I wondered about his choice of words), but I guess it’s just a fellow student with a similar haircut?
And imagine how much worse this week could be if people actually cared…
Oh well, looks like it’s time to put Zoey back in her place.

I mean she IS the main antagonist of the series. But in her defense, everyone kind of treats her like crap, so it’s good to see her win for once.

So did I. I actually came here just to comment about it.

If he’s clever, he’ll announce she needs more practice, then volunteer as testing dummy.
@ Mysterious Dark Lord v3.2:
You seem to be extremely disgusted by Zoey for no good reason. While some of the things you said do make sense, it comes off as if you legitimately hate the character for existing.
How soon before adults (Zoey’s parents? School officials?) ask her where and how she learned her technique.
“Winning” may not be all it’s cracked up to be.
I don’t get the hate some people are giving Zoey for this strip. She’s pretty much never won in anything before this arc so I think she has a very good excuse to celebrate. Good on ya Zoey!

That’s what I was saying with my post.
The better kisser… oh well…
Mysterious Dark Lord v3.2 wrote:
Zoey’s problem is certainly not lack of self-esteem, on the contrary, she has repeatedly been shown to be so full of herself that she is borderline megalomaniac. Not all people that feel good tearing down others have psychological problems or self esteem issues, some of them are just dicks.
Sandra needs a hug.
I feel so happy for Zoey. With that said:
@ Mysterious Dark Lord v3.2:
Get a life, dude.
Just out of interest, how come we don’t get transcriptions of the comics anymore?
Sandra: Stupid competition…! The only good thing is that nobody but Zoey will care–
Sign: ZOEY the GLORIOUS winner! Smarter & more athletic & the better kisser
Crowd: Zoey! Zoey! Zoey!
Store-brand Matthew McConaughey: Those are rookie numbers! You gotta pump those numbers up!
Sandra: This is gonna be a long week…
*Cue audience laugh track*

Yeah I was looking at those to make sure it wasn’t her father telling her she needs to kiss better O.o
Wasn’t Zoe the lesbian character a few years back our time? This should enhance her chances of getting a girlfriend.
Didn’t Sandra win more of the events than Zoe?

Zoey did also Goomba stomp Sandra for an extra 100 points to begin with >.>
@ oledakaajel:
Uh, the last one pretty much DID.

Nope. Sandra won water polo and mini golf. Zoey won raccoon trivia and beach volleyball. Table tennis was ruled a tie, hence the smooch-off.
How would you people know that Zoey’s never won anyting before? The comic’s barely about her so thata we could have a guess at this.
And no, everyone doesn’t “treat her as crap”. Larissa was in a game with her – she hurt Zoey, Zoey hurt Sandra, and so on and on. The rest just see the cool in whoever they can at any time.
And at this instance she’s not just celebrating. She is celebrating herself over an other person’s perceived failing.
She IS more than likely understandable. That doesn’t make this strip’s event a righteous thing.
And again: not anyone but Larissa did anything to her in front of the public. And we can remember for example that Sandra was not full of satisfaction in strip [0158] Excuses, Excuses. Or go and see strip [33] Russian Revenge or strip [0136] There’s Still Hope.
(And I for one do have a life. But if there are thoughts in a strip, thoughts be discussed, isn’t it so?)
Better call Cloud and start practicing, Sandra.
Good to see Zoey celebrating her win.

exactly what you can expect from a High School… and generaly everyone should experience that. Its quite inconsequential in a week.
later when adult and with things with far greater consequence you will learn perspective.

@ Paeris Kiran:
Not so inconsequential for every high schooler. Depends on early childhood, the emotionality of the parents and a few born-with factors. Though as Sandra, spending much time with close friends definately helps a more vulnerable teenager as well.
I guess my high school was somewhat – though not much, as this here indeed is less than extreme – more sheltered. As was my university. Man, how I rejoiced that I am meeting people far more selfassured, accepting, plus serious and easy at the same time! 🙂
It’s no doubt Zoey won kissing contest – she wanted to kiss girls and then she got her chance. Sandra has boyfriend, she wasn’t desperate enough.
@ someguy:
Zoey has shown herself to have a very fragile ego, such that she seems to hold herself to a higher standard than others. Note that at no point in the competition did she resort to underhanded tactics, whereas Sandra frequently swung below the belt (sometimes literally).
This need to see hersepf to be better than others appears to have given her an overly competitive nature, such that she can come off as a terrible person, but I suspect that if she goes too far with the boasting, it will likely swing back around against her.

The only thing that gets me though (and I said this before in a big paragraph but it got erased because I forgot to put a name and email in the header, and I wasn’t about to retype all of it), is that Zoey had to kiss her arch-enemy, and apparently had no problems with that.
She needs to arrange a couple of hours a day with Cloud to practice that tongue technique
I fear we are about to witness the long-awaited “outing” of Zoey.
A whole lot of guys are going to chase her now in the hope of receiving one of her top-rated kisses. How many can she reject before someone works out that 2 + 2 = lesbian?
Yeah, well. Sandra still has that elected office she won.

…and kissing classes…
@ someguy:
If I had to make a diagnosis I’d say it’s excessive narcissism coupled by a clear superiority complex. She thinks that she needs to be the center of attention and will do anything to make herself appear as the greatest in any competition. The class election did the one thing she couldn’t handle, it showed her she can be defeated.
For any gamers here, there is a free game called “Crash Pandas”, in which you play as raccoons participating in L.A. underground street racing. The rules are super simple, it’s not designed to be taken seriously, and Critical Role recently played it as a one-shot so you can get a taste of the craziness (mature content warning: coarse language and raccoon-on-human violence): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9EP7jiVJnU
Hopefully, not as long as an afternoon.
