I love their faces in the third panel!
- Caption: A few days later.
- Ruth: Long story short: The hunting grounds in this forest are exhausted…
- Ruth: … And I will therefore leave this place to look for a new home.
- Sid: AAAAA
- Sid: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
- Ruth: He took it better than I thought.

I keep refreshing the page and there are no Comments posted. Sooooo…. I guess First????
That 3rd panel is how I feel around people who complain relentlessly.
I’m going to assume until told otherwise that he is continuing to scream with that single breath of air in real-time until the next comic.
@ Pax:
He’s in the 4th panel not screaming already.
Great. A named character dies (admittedly their own fault, but…) and now you’re banishing Ruth? The squirrel of the fifth level? I do hope circumstances intervene.
I don’t think Sid would be that clingy. I think this just means he doesn’t want to unleash an invasive irregular to the new ecosystem.
Nooo don’t let Ruth leave!
It would be so… er… ruthless!

Only chronologically.
Awful lot of screaming in this arc.
I don’t understand why Sid can’t go with her.
Sid you lazy bum!

Either Sid doesn’t want to let her go because he’s probably in love with Ruth or he doesn’t want to unleash an irregular that could mess up the new ecosystem.
Poor Sid 🙁
She was great for protection. They’d better not tell their predators that she’s left. Tell them grand stories of slain wolves and a coyote graveyard that many see but never return to tell the tale.
By Ruth, let us know if you ever get the chance to eat something new…like a sea monster or something
Sid, she’s got to eat!
I do hope Ruth will make the occasional visit, just to keep the predators away.

But his mouth is closed in the last panel.
Let me guess. The moment Ruth gone, here comes Mr. Honeysun to take revenge for her fallen wife.
@ PS2kid:
*his fallen wife.
Wait.
Are Ruth and Sid very large squirrels or is Lily a very small raccoon?
@ Mark:
I have been coming to this site for almost a decade. I have seen Sid, Lilly and Ruth together NUMEROUS times. All of us have.
So why the hell is this the first time I’ve noticed this, Mark?
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE, MARK!?
I have a hard time beliving that the bear didn’t last more than a strip
I wonder why Sid is reacting that way. We’ve not seen them become together and Novil made it clear that he doesn’t approve of making characters into a couple just for the sake of a joke, so I’m not buying Sid having a thing for Ruth as the answer. The protection theory seems likely.
@ Crystalgate:
Crystalgate, they have been a couple (or at least very close) for multiple real-life years.
@ Razel:
I think he’s mostly worried that predators will no longer leave his warren alone :’U
Wow, looks like Sid’s worst nightmare is back: the boys are back in town.
……………..
Woops, I meant to say: the meat lovers are back in the wood. Fresh flesh’s back on the menu starting next comic (probably…) (^v^;)
Did anyone else suddenly start hearing that human sounding screaming goat when Sid start screaming? No? Just me? Okay.
And still hearing it. XD
That was the only main female squirrel character in this comic.
@ Lopophora williamsii:
There’s little to no sign of that in any of the strips tagged with “ruth”. When did that happen?
Sid’s hours are numbered.
Good news is, there are very few great predators in the area then, so they may let some of their worries about being eaten aside.
Bad news is, unless there’s some migration soon, the area is ripe for major ecological unbalance.
You know, Sid’s reaction make me remember of a short video I saw recently.

If it doesn’t work, try searching a video named ” Frédéric Molas (JDG)-AAAAHHH !”
@ Aloysius McGillicuddy:
Oh… Oh dear.
Panel 3: “….. ‘dis mutha-fu….”
