I will post everything from Japan the next weeks.
- Judge: This case seems to be clear-cut. I just have one remaining question to the defendant.
- Judge: Ichigo/Rukia or Ichigo/Orihime?
- Gilligan: Ichigo/Rukia!
- Judge: I see you are a man of culture as well.
- Judge: Case dismissed!
- Zoey: SAY WHAT?!!
- Gilligan + Judge + Lawyer: One true pairing! One true pairing! Hey!
- Zoey: This can’t be happening!

This is so brilliant. This is clearly a reference to the “Shippers, Shippers everywhere” meme XD
Okay, what the hell?! No matter what Zoey has done, she does NOT deserve THIS. Kill them, Zoey. It’s the only way you free your world of them.
No one deserves a shipper…
So, another arc boldering surrealism and nonsense.
I love it. Funny as it can be. Let those ships travel the seven seas
Of course, Ichigo/Rukia! I mean, come on, Orihime is boring.
I don’t usually post on here but this is the worst and most disgusting arc you have ever done and has lasted WAY too long. I feel the quality of this webcomic is pretty much in the toilet story-wise. Occasionally I still see flashes of your previous brilliance but all in all its feeling more like a waste of time to read.
(Sorry for being overly harsh but this last arc….damn.)
Considering the pajamas Zoey is wearing I’m going with the dream theory
@ Paeris Kiran:
Huh, I surprisingly never considered Orihime/Ishida. I always did Orihime/Chad. They balance each other out.
@ oledakaajel:
Something about washing her eyes out with Bleach but to no avail?
WTF?
Am I the only one who thinks this gag at Zoey’s expense has gone on for a bit too long now?
I still don’t get what Gilligan is accused of. I mean, publicly embarrassing someone isn’t a crime. I mean, she could sue him in civil court, or get a restraining order, but it’s not like he’d be going to jail over it.
Joke about anime OTPs and shipping wars, or about the two-tiered justice-system of the USA based on in- and out-groups?
You decide!
(Given Novil’s apparent political leanings from other comics, I suspsect the former, but the joke had to be made!)

Correct. IchiHime and RenjiRuki are even both canon.

It was a dumpster fire by the middle of the Soul Society arc. The author admitted that half the characters introduced there were just because he was having writer’s block and adding characters was a way of padding things.
I never understood this obsession with the tsundere type. If a girl was like that with me, I’d just cut my losses and move on instead on spending years trying to woo a girl who just keeps bashing me in the skull.
@ RT Davies:
Good catch; I overlooked the jammies.
@ Asrial:
I had to look this up.
Just to throw a pebble into the pond for a few ripples.
When Masakazu Morita (Ichigo’s seiyu/voice actor) was asked at an anime convention which girl he would prefer in real life, he was quick to give his answer, Rukia.
(just Google ‘Masakazu Morita I love you Rukia’ to see the fan reactions lol)

What the hell are you talking about?
I understand that some people complained about the ruth strip. It was a little gory & I didn’t get the punchline.
But this strip? It’s just fine.
@ Drakkenmensch:
Ugh, okay, look I know America has done a horrible job with explaining this but I’ll try.
A tsundere is not a girl who beats on a guy she likes, really it’s the exact opposite. Basically a tsundere treats everyone *except* the person they have feelings for like crap.
The reason Rukia is tsundere is the few times she was shown to be deeply supportive and emotionally vulnerable were around Ichigo when they were in private. She only ever hit him when they were:
A: In public around other people.
B: When he needed it/had it coming.
I agree. Rukia and Ichigo would have been way better. At least though, Bleach’s end couples weren’t as terrible as Naruto’s.
That’s not really a fair comparison. Orihime has the personality of wet cardboard, of course people are going to prefer Rukia. She at least has some chemistry with Ichigo.
What happened here is repulsive. I have no idea of we’re supposed to think of this as funny or what exactly. Heck, I have no idea at all what Novil is trying to do. Therefore, I’ll withhold judgment until this arc is over. There is a good chance I still won’t know what Novil was trying to do then though.
Why justice failed Zoey?
…months ago…
Larisa: Plot or Justice???
Zoey: PLOT!!!
Orihime is best girl, but first girl always wins, and Rukia got there first.
What?!? Ichigo/Tatsuki FTW! Give the strong girl some love.
@ Crystalgate:
Yeah I have no idea what’s going on. Hopefully we’ll get a satisfying conclusion though, with happiness for zoey and punishment for Gillian.
@ All-Purpose Guru:
Me too! One of my favorite parts of Sandra and woo are the sweet little moments between characters, and it would be nice to see that in someone like zoey, who we’ve never really seen truly happy. Especially after all the stuff we’ve seen her through in this arc.
amateurs
Ichigo/Chad
@ ValdVin:
Yeah, I also didn’t notice she was wearing jammies until RT Davies pointed it out. It seems obvious now this is a dream sequence, but given all the bizarre events in this comic that haven’t been “all just a dream,” it simply didn’t occur to me that was the case here. My guess is that assuming dream-Zoey suffers no further humiliations (e.g. Sandra popping in out of nowhere in a bikini and giving her nerd cooties by kissing her), she’ll wake up within the next strip or two.
I agree xD I was not happy with IchiHime in the end
I think those who were offended by this strip should wait and see how everything resolves first.
NewEraOutlaw wrote:
Agreed
@ Alice Macher:
Are they definitely jammies though? It could just be a weird looking dress.
*sigh* Bored now.
Can we move along?
I can no longer bring myself to care about Gilligan and his nonsense.
I missed the “oder” because I didn’t understand any of the other words in the speech bubble, so it just blended in. Yes, I know they’re names, but not names I know.

If you think this arc was the worst one then you clearly have never been here very long.
@ Chillwinston89:
Heresy. HERESY!
Seriously, it’s time to get Ruth to think about consuming human meat, starting with those three stooges.
Ha ha ha 😀 I can’t even… 😀
@ Yeahbutnobut:
Note that throughout this arc Zoey’s been shown wearing black pants and a non-frilly top. Then suddenly, frilly top (presumably with panties underneath, ahem-hem) and no pants. Also, judging from the front view in the second-last panel, if that were a dress it’d be way too short for the courtroom. Therefore, it’s a pajama top, and therefore, Zoey is dreaming.
Boo! BOO!
Ichihime is the true canon pairing!
@ Breja:
Shipping is not only anime-fan thing… although it is mostly associated with it.
And not everyone watching anime on daily basis ships characters.
Arent wrote:
If I had to guess, I’d say his complaint would be translated to common language like this:
“WTH is a shipper? WTH is going on? Why would anyone else than 12y girl be interested in shipping? (after googling it up) What the heck is going on with them? Why are they acting like retards? Oh my… this arc is so childish”
As for me, personally… I don’t understand why would anyone complain about any arc. Sure, the Ruth arc might seem a bit gory and ruthless andthis one might seem immature and childish to some.
But aren’t they essentially for different (non-mutually exclusive) groups?
Critic…. suck it up and endure… or drop. Or tell us or them what would you like to see.
Arent… you say you didn’t get the other punchline and so you understand people had problem with the arc (also… that part of the problem was it being a bit messy… but the punchline might be an issue too, right?), but do you think this is alright just because you understand it? I don’t really think everyone in audience is familiar with shipping or even into it (honestly, if I hadn’t met one crazy yaoi fangirl years ago…. I’d be clueless now). And for them, this part would probably seem stupid and incomprehensible.
Why are so many readers offended on Zoe’s behalf? Surely it’s obvious that the true pisstake here is of shippers? A valid target if ever I saw one.
Particularly those awful (straight male) “yuri” shippers. There’s few aspects of fandom behaviour that weird me out more than that.
You know, the judge has a point….only a man of taste would ship Ichigo and Ruika.
Shoutout to bleach tho
Re the “oder” issue: the line “one true pairing” is in English over in the German version (side note: the domain “sandraundwoo.de” rather amusingly redirects there,) so perhaps the inclusion of the word in the otherwise otherwise proper-noun-exlcusive conversation in the second panel is meant to convey some of the humor from the use of in-group foreign-language terminology present in the original dialogue. Or maybe it’s a mistake, but given the thousand or so translated comics without a word of German accidentally left in them I find that unlikely. Enough commenters have mentioned it that Novil will probably chime in sooner or later though.

I’m not offended, but I’m a bit on the edge. Gilligan is not a jerk who first and foremost needs to be punished for what he did against Zoey, he is a threat to Zoey who needs to be removed from her life. I really want this comic to properly threat him as a threat, but I have no idea what the comic is going for.
Mind you, people not recognizing when they are dealing with an actual threat is a real life problem. For example, there’s plenty of cases of women slapping rapists.
That said, so far this comic is pretty consistent about Gilligan being harmful and a potential threat. I’m just hoping Novil sticks to that.
I don’t know why people are calling this super weird, sure it is kicked up a notch from the usual but to me it is all the same as usual. 🙂 I could name lots of things more weird on both TV and in anime/manga. Unfortunately, the thing about weird is that once it has been around long enough, it turns into the normal. 🙂 Case in point, we’ve got talking geckos(now people find it normal), people who think they can tackle supergirl and succeed(which is like trying to tackle a steel pole with much the same result), and more on TV alone. lol!
Don’t Ship! Let go of your desire!
Shipping leads to ship wars.
Ship wars leads to hate.
Hate leads to trolls.
