- Sandra: No, mom, don’t go!
- Julie: Calm down, Sandra. I was only getting tickets for… the aquarium.
- Julie: Just look at that giant whale shark!
- Sandra: Awesome!
- Woo: And those corals, so pretty!
- Sandra: Mmm…!

Wow. I wonder if we are going to learn more of how Julie died. This made me more emotional than I was expecting from S&W today.
This is why Woo is the best.
Aww; so sweet.
eh… I have tears in my eyes…and Iam a grown man, I lost my mother some time ago,…. I would like to have a dream with her, but nothing…
Well that is disgustingly heartwarming
I see two options:
1. Woo is as Good as we think and is a very Good pet who cares his propiety (yes, the owners are propierty of their pets. Everybody knows)
2. Woo wants to go to the Aquarium.
I expect for option number 1
About as cute as it’s sad. Bittersweet.
It’ll be even sadder when she wakes up. Luckily she has a friendly raccoon nearby to comfort her.

Some strips are great, some are “only” decent. And you know what? That’s just fine. Because, if something is entirely perfect, it is not perfect :O
This is so far beyond heartwarming. This is heart MELTING. Absolutely beautiful.

This is the type of thing I like in this comic! 🙂

Err… What is the situation in what I just saw, exactly?

Why not both? I predict both.
This hit right in the tender feels…
“Mom, why do you sound like the pet racoon we don’t have yet?”
Atta boy, Woo!! 🙂
@ A weird guy:
It’s clickbait. Only created hours ago. Wish there was a way to ban/remove things like this.
It is said that when you dream about a loved one who has passed away, they are thinking about you from Heaven. Beautiful way to end the year. Thank you for posting this.
So…. her mom died at a fire at the aquarium? Will this be a crossover?
Theory: Sandra’s mom worked a lot when she way young, as seen in the Piano strip, so maybe she died on some form of business transit.
Her death date, as seen at her grave is June 14, 2006. There was a train crash in California very early that morning. The date is also significant as it was also the day Jean Roba (A Belgian comic author/artist) died.
Not aure how any of that is related to this very VERY heart melting stip, but it’s interesting info
It’s sweet, but the aquarium and man eating giant sea monster part unironically terrify me.
Woo is such a great friend.
Osakako Kaiyukan aquarium? Love the place. Been there for 7 years! You love it too?

I don’t think so. Sandra was already dreaming about her mom’s death and talking in her sleep and Woo intervened to redirect the dream by whispering things to Sandra. The bit about going to the Aquarium is already what Woo made up on the spot (note the pause before “the Aquarium” in mom’s speach bubble)
@ DTIBA:
I have to agree with you 110%

Waking up and realizing it was a dream is a bummer though.

@ Nate:
My guess is that she died from an attack by a Giant Whale Shark.
Or perhaps it was a patch of nefarious gangster Coral.
For comic relief got to 911. Sandra and Larissa meet cloud.
When I lost my wife I kept dreaming that she was coming home and that it had all been a mistake. Obviously I needed a talking raccoon.
I lost my mother early in 2019, and I’ve had more dreams then I can count about her death and missing her. I’m glad Sandra has a Woo to help her at at least. He’s a great pet.
@ Threadnaught:
Whale sharks aren’t man eaters. They eat krill and such.
Sad, but heartwarming. Well done, Novil!
My wife passed away in October, my daughter was yesterday saying it would have been nice to know what mummy wanted to get them for Christmas.
No raccoons in Ireland to help us with that answer.
I’m sure Sandra thinks of her more often, but it’s been 1056 comics since Julie’s been mentioned, according to the tags. I didn’t even remember her name had been mentioned.

And they are way too large to be kept in an aquarium.
@ AnotherBear:
Whale sharks are known to be docile to humans! And they’re filter feeders, similar to baleen whales.
Lucid dreaming by proxy.
That is adorable.

Only if she would REMEMBER the dream at all. You have multiple dreams every night, how many do you remember? Most people averages below one.
@ Darkstand:
Yes, you’re right. This is one more than possible

Hmmm, Karma might not always be a bitch…

@ Alan Richmon:
Both is an option
Pretty sweet strip:-).
And the shark doesn’t look fake either. Good.
That was endearing.
Is it the first time Sandra’s mom “appear” in the strip?
@ Fex:
Nah, there’s a strip that shows Sandra shortly after her birth.
And Sandra visiting her mother.
I’m actually on the verge of full on crying. My hands are shaking!
‘How to turn a nightmare into sweat dream?’
You should know, how to twist the scenery in your dreams into a less terrifying one. I am sorry to not able to tell you, how to do that, i just did it naturally as long, as i can remember – but if you has a “checkpoint” in your dream, where you can return again and again, until you solve all of the dream’s traps, it’s far less scary. If you can imagine yourself a secondary form, what you can take to fight against the “big bad” in your dreams, that’s a bonus. (The “big bad” doesn’t need to be a monster – it can be a catastrophe too, against you normally powerless. Falling from a cliff? Imagine yourself wings! Stuck underwater? Gills are your friends! You need to be creative, and do not accept the word “impossible”, that’s the key. Also, it’s good, if you can recognize, that you are in a dream first… Make it far more easy.)
