There will be only one update this week, on Wednesday or Thursday, since I needed some time off.
- Richard: That was a wonderful day. I haven’t had so much fun in years!
- Hitomi: Thank you!
- Richard: What are we going to do tomorr–?
- Hitomi: Who is this so late?
- Hitomi: うそ……

NOT GOOD NOT GOOD
Anybody want to bet it’s just a cosplayer being creepy?
Jay:Smoke that motherfucker like it aint no thang
BTW, have you noticed that Powree has actually answered the readers’ problems with Hitomi being a bit too young? In this strip, she is clearly built in a more mature manner. In frame 2, her face is drawn clearly over 20.
Plot twist: She made a deal with $TIME_LORD to be young for a few weeks. Actually, she’s the same age as Richard…
I think Hitomi says something line “inbelivable” https://www.nihongomaster.com/dictionary/entry/16186/uso
We don’t know who is the creepy hourglass guy but she knows.
Hitomi enchants me, even more with her kitten ears, interesting twist I thought that the character with the hourglass was a symbol of the passage of time, I am intrigued that it happened. %100 in favor of the ship, I do not see the problem with Hitomi looking young, in fact Japanese women tend to look young
Did you notice that Novil returned to the Hitomi storyline, but is, in truth, *still* making strips about final fantasy 7?
Very well played, Novil. Well played.
うそ translates to “a lie” according to google. Not super enlightening, but figured I should share my findings. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

There are several previous instances going back to her introduction where Hitomi looks distinctly older/more mature. Typically when she’s very serious or concerned or perhaps relaxed. When she’s more exuberant or passionate, she looks a lot younger
“I haven’t had so much fun in years” would be better English phrasing in the first panel.
うそ? Uso? That’s gotta be a lie!
Pun intended
Ugh! Not another one of those hourglass sales reps again!
OF COURSE, WHAT’S SO BLOODY VEXING ABOUT THE WHOLE BUSINESS IS THAT I WAS EXPECTING TO MEET THEE IN PSEPHOPOLOLIS
I keep forgetting some people don’t know these things…
Yes, what Hitomi says is “うそ” [uso], which literally translates to “a lie” – but what she’s actually saying is “No way!”
I mean, frankly, think about it. How many people that don’t know English would get what does “no way” mean? Especially if they translate it literally?
Yeah. Translations are tricky.
So then, what is it that Hitomi is denying? That their time together is up? That Her Time is Up? That some yahoo with a really twisted sense of humor is at the door?
Calling it now: the hooded person is Larisa on her succubus duties, and now that the hourglass’s empty, she takes off her hood and is like “PLAYTIME’S OVER, NOW FRICK”
I assume this is about him going home more than anything else.
…you’re not going to stop this, are you? I’m gonna have to stop reading this comic until I find enough time to finish the game to avoid being spoiled, aren’t I?
Ok, what’s going on?!
@ Name:
In the direct literal sense yeah. But it can me some thing like “no way” especially in a context like this.
“It’s my manager. I’m out of accrued holiday time.”
@ Rex Vivat:
You actually understand the time janny reference?

Well it was not hard to identify what uso means for me, but I know how Japanese is structured so it was kinda obvious that it is more similar to “It is gotta be a lie” rather than just “a lie” because Japanese tend to be more concise so they can just say a single word to mean something like that…
@ John:
Funny, my initial thought was: “Isn’t that what he said?” Turns out I read it that way instinctively. Nice catch, haha.
Aeris is tagged in this. My worry is INTENSIFYING.
“Hourglass delivery! Sign here, please.”
(Alternate punchline)
“But, I ordered thyme!”
“I’m sorry, but your thyme has run out.”
Isn’t that just a represintation of his passport arriving? He’ll just have to leave now. He is responsible for a teenage girl after all.
@ Carefulrogue:
I see you missed Dementor then?
@ Name:
usually it can be translated also in something like “oh no” or “it can’t be”
I guess it’s the spirit of time, to tell Richard to go home already
@ ligthingcloud:
If you’re going to read my comment, please read the numerous ones before yours saying the same thing already, IE Nikary and Orion.
* concern *

A succubus, certainly Larissa, would dress differently.
I think their time together is coming to an end.
No stepmother for Sandra.
I’d complain about it being うそ and not 嘘, but Japanese tend to write it like that too. And sometimes ウソ, although less often when not part of a larger sentence.
Also, much like the F-word, it’s actually a pretty versatile word. For instance, 嘘だよね would literally translate to “It’s a lie, right?” and loosely to “Say it ain’t so”.
“I didn’t eat the [salmon] mousse!”
I got a feeling the next installment is going to break my heart.
@ maarvarq:
But at least we got to drive our cars!
“It’s for you!”
Plot twist! It is not death it is cupid, and time to get married has come!
Well, I suppose it could be Hitomi’s biological clock coming to visit . . .
Imagine just showing up to random apartments in a building doing only this.
@ Name:
“Uso” can mean something You can’t believe in. In anime they tend to say this very often, when somebody says something surprising/shocking. Not necessarily a lie, just “It can’t be true!”.
“I have come…
Selling novelty hourglasses…
Do you want one…
They are a great deal…
Really brings a room together…”
So…. Hitomi’s crush is also secretly in cosplay. Nicely done.

If you actually read the comic instead of looking for contrived reasons to be “concerned” about underage characters, you’d know that Htiomi was clearly established as a grown-up from the start. Nothing about the way she was drawn ever suggested otherwise.

Nice one.

I don’t, but the fact that I know that they’re related to FFVIIR because of this comic without even getting to see them in the game itself is pretty indicative of the problem. The tags don’t help things any.
What Hitomi say in the last panel:
う そ
1 (n) lie; falsehood; incorrect fact
彼が言ったことが嘘であることが解った。
What he said turned out to be false.
2. Really!; Unbelievable!; No way!
