Welp….guess I’ll just fucking die than
The continuation of mech fights are largely Spider-Man’s fault.
Let’s hope Hitomi visits America
@ Antiyonder:
well, maybe up until the mech suit was stolen IRL and they had to reuse earlier footage for the series.
He wanted to abandon his kid. Nice.
Well, at least it was a relatively uneventful flight home.
@ Klekowskii:
Mid-Life crisis with cute younger girl who is into fetish games is a helluva drug, I guess.
Ahh, Richard declared his love for Hitomi! With that step taken, I do not think we have seen the last of her. But he looks happy enough to be home. And I have learned about sharknado and mechs, so a lot for one strip. Now I wonder what his boss have to say about the customer meetings in Japan…
Enough is enough! I have had it with these monkey-biting sharks on this monday-friday plane!
From the creators of “Snakes on a Plane”… “Sharks on a Plane”! Coming soon to a screen near you.
1. You don’t know what you got til it’s gone
2. Well Japan is not ‘Merica
3. And we thought snakes on a plane was far fetched
4. A dose of reality (some little hearts instead of puffs of air would have been nice)
I low-key always feel sorry for extras who die in disaster movies. Especially the ones that get eaten alive. They didn’t ask to be part of anything crazy. They just wanted to commute.
Anyone noticed that his sleeve got bitten off in between the last two panels? 😀
@ Titan:
this……this needs to happen

How so? Hitomi already knows and likes Sandra, just bring her along. He didn’t ge tthe chance to set it up is all.
Nice strip, magnificently drawn the sad (hopeless?) face of Richard, but I think it is not the last of the arc.

Easy there J. Jonah Jameson…
@ Sllimkered:
Should have put the sharks in parkas. We don’t want daddy’s little angels to get cold.
Ok… sharks… definitely United Airlines. Thanks for confirming…
On a more serious note… we need a Richard’s second wedding arc!
Time Jannie, how we all thoroughly dislike you!! Come back, Hitomi!!
@ furrball:
At least Sandra doesn’t have to move to Japan this way.
I ship it

Actually, I suspect that he would have arranged for Sandra to move to Japan or had Cloud’s parents look after her until after the honeymoon. He would never abandon her but he can get intense at times:

@ Zinn:
He may have been thinking those shark would have been more useful on his flight to Japan.
I love how this implies that a robe and hourglass is standard attire for a company position.
I want to know where the luggage in panel 4 came from.
Maybe ask your daughter if she wants a japanese big-sister age step-mother O.o

I mean that will bring her even closer to her mother-in-law, so I don’t see why she wouldn’t want that nekomimi girl as her step mother.
@ Antiyonder:
CHANGE, LEOPARDON!

For someone who was really happy to stay with Cloud; Sandra does seem quite happy by her fathers’ return
@ Patrick Ohm:
He didn’t.
@ Klekowskii:
I think Richard is entitled to a mid life crisis. I view this entire scene as a bit of a metaphor. Mr. Grim Reaper is Richard’s responsibilities as an adult and a parent, while ‘Richard’ is more his Id, only interested in whatever is most gratifying at the time.
He wants to stay, because there he has no responsibilities and obligations. It’s just enjoyment and fun, almost child-like in its wonder. But his responsibilities are strong and, deep down, he knows he cannot abandon them to live like a child again, wild and carefree.
So he gets on that plane, while lamenting over what could have been.
Tfw Richard says to Sandra: “We are migrating to Japan.”
How come everybody only ever mentions three types of relationships:
1) Never see each other again.
2) Friendship
3) Marriage
That’s not all there is.

Right, there’s ‘friends with benefits’, LOL
@ Argentum:
Spiderman live action show in japan, spiderman was a regular guy who got a cybernetic suit sent by the people of the planet Spider and had a giant mech called Marveller, so op commenting on giant mech fights being spidermans fault is accurate
She better have been a college student.
@ Titan:
Hitomi is saying something in panel 1. If I could see it clearly, I still wouldn’t know Japanese! Anyone??
Mech fights. Or, how Japanese call them, Tuesdays.
Well that wraps that up nicely. No fatalities. They can always email. The only thing missing is a sequence of a Richard-less, mud covered, loincloth-bikini, spear toting Sandra living off garbage cans with Woo as soon as the cereal milk is finished off.
The key to surviving panel 3 is being the Sad Keanu that none of the sharks want to go near.
What happened to his right sleeve? Got Sharknado’ed?

Yep, and the show popularized the Hero using a giant mech to the point where the Sentai shows used it starting with Battle Fever J, and why Power Rangers (adapted from the 16th installment of Sentai and up) has the Zords.
@ Brian:
It was waiting at the airport for him. You never had that happen? I flew to LAX; no checked luggage, airline couldn’t find it, they called KCI and confirmed it was loaded, STILL unable to locate it. 4 days later I flew back to KCI. 2 days after that the airline called complaining I had not picked up my luggage upon exiting the flight. It was all there, in perfect condition. They could (would?) not tell me where it had been for 6 days.
@ Strife:
Second the shipping…
@ Brian:
It’s in panel two as well, if that makes a difference.

And pen-pals, online friends, casually calling each other thrice a year.
Love Affair (anything from friends with benefits to “why aren’t we married yet?”)
Long distance love of any degree
And probably five billion other ways of liking each other.
Is this a subtweet at Fred Gallagher?
For the ever hopeful in the group, the delay of “another hour” may provide enough time for a certain character to get a ticket and board the plane.
Sharks were simply fate’s final attempt.
Oh noes! : < We wanna more Hitomi! : <
