[1339] Practice makes perfect
└ posted on Saturday, 26 November 2022, by Novil
This is the last Sandra and Woo strip drawn by Powree.
- Sandra: KonoSuba?
- Zoey: Yeah, let’s try it. I’ve heard it’s very funny.
- Tanja Dörflinger: What’s going on here?!
- Larisa: It’s the Germans!
- Tanja Dörflinger: In the rehearsal yesterday, you still made several mistakes! Why aren’t you practicing?!
- Hannes Dörflinger: Practice makes perfect!
- Tanja Dörflinger: Here are your instruments! Let’s get started!
- Sandra: Oh nooooo.
- Hannes Dörflinger: Business before pleasure!
Thank you so much for addressing your fans and letting us know that you need at minimum a hiatus. Whether you return or not, it has been a pleasure reading your work all these years.
Yes! I was beginning to think that really was the end since you hadn’t updated…
Wait… you aren’t continuing the harem thing? I’d think her parents would have walked in on that at least…
Even if circumstances do not permit a “satisfying conclusion”, the journey has been worthwhile. Take care of yourself Novil.
@ Novil:
I do hope you find balance in your life again, whether it leads to more Sandra and Woo or not. I enjoyed reading it and of course I hope that eventually there might be more of it but there are more important things in life than what a random bloke from the internet wishes for =)
@Novil
Take care of yourself.
Depression is an ugly thing.
I don’t know your circumstances so take from my advice what you can:
For me it helped to realize that only I can make me happy and thus I have to make myself a priority first. I ignored others for a while and just did what I wanted todo, I went hiking several times per week because I wanted to, I went to an amusement park, because I wanted to, etc.
And after you feel good, you have room to take care of others.
So glad that you’re still with us. I was worried you had passed. Be well. I love your comic.
@ Novil:
Novil, while I’m elated to have you back, you need to look after yourself. I can’t speak for anyone else, but I’ll wait if needed be, or I’ll be ok with this being the end, but be good to yourself, please.
@ Novil:
Can I pitch ideas or story scripts?
Want to see Sandra and Larissa as parents in the future. Futurama styled tech crossed with Expanse and Altered Carbon
@ Novil:
Is it okay if I pitch stories and scripts to Powree?
Well, thanks novil for showing, up. If you ever come back I will check from time to time!
Thank you for putting out such an entertaining comic throughout the years- I’ve been through rough waters the last couple of years and your comic is one of the small pleasures that kept me going. Thank you for that. Take care of yourself first, and know that you’ve made the world a better place in your own way.
Great work, both of you. Thank you for the years of fun.
@ Novil:
Hello,
I just wanted to say thank you for the comic. It has helped me get through my work nights and has always been a delight to read after work when new comics are posted. Please take any and all the time you need to recover, or just feel better in general. I do have only one question, I bought the Sandra and Woo game, plus the dlc because I really wanted the comics, my question is would you either update the dlc with some of the new comics or put out another dlc pack with the rest of the archived comics? I’m cool either way I was just happy to support the comic in the way I could just wondering because some of my favourite strips are later then the dlc archive, like the “what’s something you hated as a child, but love as an adult”. Anyway thanks again for a great comic, if this was a the end it was a very fun ride and if just a pause I’ll be here ready to read the new stuff.

did something happen to powree?

The way I see it you don‘t owe us anything – I‘m just happy to learn S&W might continue one day 🙂
Best wishes to Powree (t‘was an honour) and you too, Oliver. You both are awesome.
Thanks, Novil and Powree, for this webcomic. You have done a great job, and I am happy to have had you with me for almost a decade. Especially, I enjoyed Gaia, which I read also to my daughters as a bedtime story when I got the books.
I dropped here only after getting your Kickstarter email. I am happy that you were able to send it, as it addressed serious issues raised by some of your American readers. It was courageous to admit the mental breakdown there.
To be sincere, the strain you were under was well visible in many of your comics, including this one. (The Shadowland sequence of Gaia, the Japan plot and the Lava moat subplot in S&W, to mention but the starkest examples.) I hope also that you don’t get angry with me when I note that the plots during the COVID years in S&W have been a bit forced, and not up to your best work. I think you may have exhausted the well spring from which you drew stories and jokes for S&W. It would perhaps a time for the characters to grow up, or for a new story altogether. It is not useful to waste the legacy of your great webcomic by second- or third-grade material.
Powree, you have been equally important in making this webcomic, and when reading Sic Creatus Mundus, I felt a bit bad for the way your work was given a secondary importance. Without you, there would not be the S&W nor the Gaia we know. Their visual appearance is quite as important as the script. So, please accept my heartfelt thanks for the joy you and Novil brought to my life for many years.
I know who Tanja reminds me of. Gaiman’s Cuckoo!

Dude! As much as I understand your viewpoint, stop it! The authors of this comic are allready giving it everything they got, and one of them, Novil, needs a lot of rest! So what if we don’t find any new Woo content? Story’s still good like this. I’m with everyone else here: Novil and Powree did a fantastic job making this comic and keeping it updated the way it is, but they’re humans and also need their break, so pressurising them like this to get more content is rude.
@ generic guy:
Put it this way: Powrees bio on twitter seeks to draw andromorphic content, so I kinda wonder if loss of Woo is reason why Powree is quitting (not to point that title of comic is Santra and Woo)
raven0ak wrote:
No one said that Powree is quitting, it’s Novil who can’t continue.
Christian Dauz wrote:
You can ask Powree yourself if she wants to draw your scripts and how much you have to pay for her work. It’s easy to find her social media contacts.
But the characters of this comic are Novil’s intellectual property, so you can’t use them. And obviously you need to find another place to publish your comic.
As many have said already, thanks both for this and for Gaia. Do take all the time you need, no pressure at all! I am still subscribed to the RSS feed,I will be there if you come back! And if you find a different subject / format / etc works better for you in the future, just drop in a word here to point us to the new direction!
Take care!
Got it.

@ Crestlinger:
Still have that poster mounted up on my wall of # [0229] Composition With Red, Blue And Woo!
Que bien que volviste!
Nice to see you.
@ Novil:
Hi Novil. I’m sorry to hear, that you’re going through tough times. And I wish I could do something to help you just like your work has helped me many times in the past, when things went south for me. Please stay strong, look after yourself, take some time off if you need and keep your fans posted. We just want to know you’re still there. And we will still be there when things start getting better for you. Because eventually, they always do.
@ Wolfcub:
I vwry much hope both you and Novil get a happy ening, brother!
Oh wow, the end of an era. (for me at least, that have been following this comic since forever)
Can S&W still be the same without Powree ? I wonder.
In any case, it was a incredible performance to run it for such a long time (and for free !)
I’m one of those readers that rarely post a comment but be sure I’ll always be around to follow your work.
For now, take a nice and long rest, you deserve it.
I just get this site unblocked, I’m trapped in a nursing home and their firewall is draconian, and the strip ends? Novil I hope your mental health improves.
I’m going to go cry in the corner.
@ Novil:
I hope you can continue to strip but I understand if you cannot. It has given me so much joy over the years. Get some help for whatever is going on and think about what is best for you. Thank you for the strip.
Novil & Powree: I hope you both had a happy Christmas and will continue with an even happier New Year! I will miss your work, Powree! You’ve done super well with Sandra & Woo! Novil; I hope the new year finds your mind relaxed and in a much better place! Take care of yourself and feel better soon. On the plus side for me; now I have time to read Gaia from the beginning to the end! 🙂 So, I’ll still be watching your work and looking forward to your happy and healthy return!
hi Mr. Knörzer. I don’t know what your mental problem is, but I wish you to get better.
A whole camp encourages you and waits for you – just like your heroes. I wish you a happy new year and lots of fresh energy!!
@ jb:
This new comic leaves things hanging.
I think we are all hoping there will be more strips at some point. If there are, I wouldn’t want to see any of Powree’s work discarded; I’d rather it go on the site. Even if there’s just a chance.
I won’t lie, I like Sandra and Woo because of the representation I feel I have. I’m an Indonesian with interest in niche stuffs… Like webcomics here.
That being said, I thank you both, Novil and Powree, for filling a place in my soul for several years already.
And whatever artistic choice you two choose, may it bring happiness to you first, and us second.
This comic is an inspiration of mine and I really admire how Novil wouldn’t cave in to criticisms to self-censor/cater and just the love you can feel for the characters and story from the author. Hope to pay it tribute somehow in my own stories one day. Mad respect.
I’m sorry you’re going through rough times Novil, hang in there, we’ve got your back! Best wishes for you whatever your next step may be.
I don’t know why, but “It’s the Germans!” makes me chuckle every time I read it.
Whatever you decide or do going forward, I just want to thank you for all the joy and entertainment you guys have given us through the years, so please, take care of yourself and I hope you can find a healthy way to keep going forward!
aww… now all the conspiracy theories go down the drain
On the upside, there is already one complaint in the comments about Woo not being in the arc – I am sure Novil must have missed such comments immensely.
Seriously, though: What a pleasant surprise, to see one final Sandra&Woo drawn by the immortal Powree and a sign of life by Novil! Take care, Novil.
So Long, and Thanks for All the Racoon.
