With the machine my immediate thought was Jack of Shadows by Roger Zelazny which i wholeheartedly recommend, it has the added benefit of being fairly short too.

I read the plot summary and Jack of Shadows doesn’t seem to have much in common with Scarlet, if at all.
Sci-fi fantasy and slice of life. Quite the repertoire. No question, just a thank you for the update, and well wishes for the future. We will see you when you get back.
I’m very much looking forward to your new series! Your writing and characters in Gaia are amazing and I’m very confident you’ll be able to pull off another amazing work.
With this description, I’m not sure if there will be any science in it (probably no more than in Star Wars), but I’m interested anyway. After all, there was much more science in Gaia than one would expect.
Congrats on getting the Kickstarter stuff out to the folks in the US. As someone who used to deal with shipping companies on a daily basis I know, how you feels. I hope everything between you and Powree are okay.
You realise Tapas and Webtoon are pure evil, don’t you? They’ve destroyed at least one webcomic by somehow manipulating the authors rights away. So be careful.
I’ve recently had really good experiences with Twitter. I don’t know what exactly Musk changed but as a novelist/artwork I got several thousand followers just starting in January. With the amount of art you have here it should be even easier.
I’m glad to hear you’re doing well Novil! Also it’s good know you’ve got new projects lined up. My only concern is how a new artist will impact Sandra & Woo. Changing style after over a decade will be a big shift and I’m honestly really worried. But I’ll wait to see how it ends up before I make a final judgement. Welcome back!
As for the new story, it sounds interesting. However as a programmer I will misread Lavarel as Laravel every single time. Even my spell-check is trying to correct Lavarel to Laravel, lol.
I’m really pleased to read you’re getting better.
All the more considering we can hope for news from sandra and her friends, although it also makes me sad a little that powree will no longer be part of it.
On this occasion i want to express my deepest thanks for all those great moments you and powree let us enjoy.
I wish the both of you the very best of luck for your future life and work.
(Writing this in english although i’m german, and could have posted on german version also,
cause i always read Sandra in english and i think it is the waaay bigger crowd here.)
I look forward to your future works and as far as Powree is concerned, I know they’ll return for a strip or two in the future but with a popular comic like Sandra and Woo, it maybe time to have more than one artist working on the strips depending on the arc. As let me paint you a picture, if you want a certain tone for a certain story then you need an artist who’s good in that field of emersing the audience in that stories theme. Novil you’re an awesome dude and I wish the best.

“The name ‘Lavarel’ was a dictate of nature and in no way related to the PHP framework Laravel.” says Novil, the software developer working for a decade with the PHP framework Synfony, Laravel’s main competitor.
I am so very happy that you are feeling better and that you find pleasure in new creative challenges!
And I think it is a good sign of how much your work has ment to many of us that you have 37 comments here just a few days from posting, after the site has been silent for over two months.
All this news is glorious. The last of the books are arriving. Novil actually thinking that he’ll have spare time outside of software, though that may drive him to a better focus on Sandra Roll and her programmer father. The Summer project sounds good and I look forward to seeing where it goes. No news on Powree, but no _bad_ news on Powree! I hope the next artist can live up to the beautiful art of Sandra and Woo, and Gaia.
I can dig it. When I wrote my first novel I was only teaching 2 hours a day. Then I could stay up all night writing. I’ve started the second one and it’s not nearly as easy now that I’m 6 hours a day. Time is money, as they say. More free time equals less money.

Back in business, baby.
Cool!
Who will be drawing “Scarlet Carolus and the Machine of Eternal Summer”? How did you find an artist?

I don’t have an artist yet. I first need to have more material for the comic.

I’m so glad to see you’re getting better, Norvil! I can’t believe our man is soon to have a trilogy!

Nice to hear that everything is fine! 🙂 I also started working part time to write/promote my fantasy book. It’s just more convenient this way.
Working full time & creating good art and lore is just too much.
Woo-hoo!
Glad you’re feeling better Novil!

Glad to have you back .

I’m gonna miss Powree’s art :'(
Glad to see you’re alive and doing reasonably well.
Wishing you all the luck on your new strip.
Gonna miss Powree’s art, though.
I hope you don’t mind me asking, but why won’t Powree be returning as artist?
HOORAY! I’m glad you’re feeling well, Novil!
Congratulations on feeling better, and on the work!
What happy news! Scarlet sounds very enticing! I´ll be anticipating it with great excitement.^^

Good to hear things are getting better!

Wow, that’s awesome news. Looking forward to it!

Thanks for the info ….
but, please … don’t post text-rendered-as-graphic!
It’s harder to read, fuzzy, doesn’t scale well, and for some visually impaired users it can’t be read without routing it to an OCR program!
It also isn’t searchable.
It also takes more space if stored locally.
Really happy you are feeling better. Take the time you need, and here, have a stroopwafel.
Glad you’re coming back. I wish for you the best in the future.
So glad to hear that things are looking up for you. I hope your new story is as rich with characters as your other two strips have been. Stay strong!
So glad to see you back, Novil! I have webtoon so I’ll keep an eye out for Gaia and I look forward to the new comic.
And more Sandra and Woo! YAY!
This is so cool I can’t wait for more Sandra and woo!
I’m pleased also you are a bit better.
I look forward to seeing the new comic as well.
Yay!
Now my only question is why did Powree leave? Just move on, or was there an issue?
It’s been a while and I can’t recall if that had been covered.

@ Novil:
Just from the short description above, Jack of Shadows was my first thought, too.
Regardless, looking forward to it!
Great! I am looking forward to it all!
Glad you’re doing better my man
I think Sandra and Woo should be fast-forwarded +20 years
Sandra is a mother while Woo is a grandfather
I suggested the same thing to the Simpsons’s creators
I’m happy to hear you’re doing better!

oh thank god. thank you so, so very much for this update post!
Thanks goodness! We’ve been so worried about you, Novil!
