However, when they are old enough to get a drivers license the Mercedes will definitely be the status symbol. Americans are obsessed with their “wheels.”

This is only true of comic strip raccoons. Real raccoons are small, long-tailed bears with primate brains and prehensile hands. In other words, bad news on feet.

I mostly agree with the above, except the primate brain part. They are as intelligent as many primates (way more than some, like the guy reading over your shoulder), but they definitely have carnivore brains, which, in many ways, is worse than them having primate brains.
The name raccoon came from a Native term meaning “sees with hands” and their fore-paws are very sensitive and adept at grabbing things, but primates are better as a whole, but not by much.
They are not really social enough to make good pets. They are quite intelligent in their own way and require constant mental stimulation, or they can become quite nasty and destructive when looking for something to do when bored.
