Looking for team members for Sandra and Woo adventure!
Several weeks ago, the developer studio Feline Fuelled Games started the development of a Sandra and Woo adventure! The mods that were developed by Feline Fuelled Games for Neverwinter Nights 2 and Dragon Age: Origins regularly received positive reviews in the German video game press (see picture on the right). Of course I will also support the team during the development process of the classical point-&-click adventure. It is planned to publish a German and an English version of the game with a full voice-over.
Feline Fuelled Games is still looking for additional team members, especially artists! That means we are looking for people with (semi-)advanced skills in one of the following fields:
- Creation of 3D models
- Drawing of background images, objects and/or textures
- 3D animation or 2D animation
Note that all current team members of Feline Fuelled Games are from German speaking countries so that all internal forum threads are written in German. However, you will be given all necessary instructions to do your work and other important pieces of information in English. Of course you will also be able to give your opinion on important topics like any other team member. We also need good translators and voice artists for the English version. If you’re interested in joining our team, please write an e-mail to the lead developer Milena.
The adventure will be developed using the easy-to-use, but also somewhat limited, Visionaire Adventure Game Engine which was also used for the adventures Harvey’s New Eyes (see picture on the right) and Deponia by Daedalic Entertainment. Like Feline Fuelled Games’ last mod, Chroniken von Coldramar, the game will feature the work of professional musicians and German voice artists.
We want to distribute the adventure commercially if the quality is sufficient to justify that. If revenue (past the expenses) is generated this way, all team members will receive a share of the revenues with respect to their contribution to the game.
The project is still in its early planning phase, but is making solid progress so far. If you want to join our team, you should be reliable and be available regularly during the development time of around two years (depending on your field of work).
Oh, cool! I love adventure games!
Visionaire Studio, huh? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that engine before. If they have good experience with it, I say go for it, but might I recommend the use of AGS(Adventure Game Studio)? It is pretty easy to use, it has a very helping community at bigbluecup.com, and it is very costumizable! It also has some great games under it’s wings, like these: http://www.agdinteractive.com/games/games.html
and i have to add this additionnal information : the software “AGS (Adventure Game Studio)” is also used for to make these interesting games which you can visit there : http://www.wadjeteyegames.com/ beside, these games got steam compatibility. it mean it’s an interesting information to know ! 🙂
I think the Visionaire Engine is a good choice for creating state-of-the-art adventures. One drawback of AGS I saw when looking at its feature set was the limitation of the screen resolution to 1024×768 pixels. The license agreement for commercial games developed with it is also very problematic. In fact, it is a dealbreaker.
This sounds awesome. The funny thing is, I was actually tempted to think of joining in, even before I saw anything about potential revenue – but after seeing the “available regularly during the development time of around two years”, I realized I can’t 🙁
Though knowing the development period would be around two years, now I’m curious as to the scope of this game. I.e. how big is it going to be? And by regularly working, what constitutes “regular” for one of the 3D modelling positions? Monthly? Weekly? Daily?
…Not that I’d be likely to keep a regular schedule as a college student who can’t manage his time well… But I’m still interested as to what would be expected of the team.
Also, if you have a hard time finding good 3D modellers or animators willing to work on this, I’d recommend posting about the project at the BlenderArtists forum – I’ve seen people there join into projects for making games before. Although, I don’t know whether they’d see it as advertising; it would help to have at least one person on your team who actually uses Blender before doing this. And if you’re wondering, Blender is a good, free 3D program that can export to a variety of formats, which should be suitable for most projects.
if you are looking for help, both in tech and financials, I recommend contacting the Extra Credits crowd at Penny Arcade. They are looking to sponnser things like this.
Hi
I am a third year animation student moving to London… Want to be a part of this opportunity. I am a 2d animator and would LOVE to help…
please email meeeeeee!
From German to English or vice versa? cause I can do the first one just fine, but I can never get the German cases right 😀
If you look back in the early days of Sandra & Woo, in the comments I believe I was the first person to come up with the idea of a Sandra & Woo RPG.
Well, it may (or may not?) be an RPG. But I’m glad my dreams of a SAW videogame has come true!
@Kaidei Desnaux: I would write to you if I had your email address :D.
But you can simply also contact me, while you click on Milena in the above article :).
@ Elsiar: Translation from German to English. If you could do this, please conatact me ;).
@WolfieMario: many of our team members are employed and can put only restricted time in the project. So we have rather attached a longer development time. But even a good 20 hours module for Dragon Age needs more than 1 year, and there no figures and backgrounds must be drawn and be animated. The development time is realistic for an Adventure lasting several hours made by a semi- professional-team.
Regular work:
this is: present really up to the end and not stop right in the middle because suddenly other seems more interesting.. To finish the works which you has accepted in an adequate period . Briefly: predict what you can perform, and also do this ;).
Man, I would really like to be of use to the creative team of this game. But, sadly, I’m not good enough in any of the fields. I’m not an artist(I wish to be), and I’m not a programmer(I wish to be).
However, I DO have one thing going for me. I have played a lot of adventure games. A LOT of them. So if you are looking for beta testers, I’m the droid you’re looking for(Sweeps hand in front of the screen).
Plus, I’m a huge Sandra and Woo fan, so I will test the dirt out of the game in order to ensure that the game will be as good as can be.
That sounds absolutely exciting! I wanna see how it turns out! 🙂

I think it should offer around 10 hours of gameplay.
It is very hurtful to the development process when you have one member who says he will do something, but then doesn’t do it. It is a hobby project, but a serious one. If you say in advance that you can’t do much, but you’re able to deliver your work in good quality and in time, that’s still beneficial to the team.

Thanks for the notice. I will check them out.

…wha? Who makes things with fixed / very limited top resolutions like that any more? Or doesn’t want their thing to get maximum exposure so makes it easy to sign up for a distro license?
I mean, not an issue if we were to play on my (now rather old) laptop, or a prior-gen iPad, etc… but almost anything else other than netbooks and smartphones is higher rez these days. Even the second monitor I have hooked up and use for most “serious” purposes.
And I also meant to say…
Ooh, voice acting (with a side of making der Englisch more correct :p)…!
Rather tempting to sign up to be a bit-part, but I have a crap speaking voice, can’t hold a consistent accent when playing a character unless somewhat drunk (when I become the king of convincing people I’m someone else on the phone), and have huge issues with delivering things on time…
If I ever got involved it’d have to be that because I can’t Art worth a damn. I would show you what I’ve come up with using a graphics tablet and even my tablet PC (which is basically a small cintiq with a keyboard) after a couple hours hard, careful work and you’d be horrified.
I’d love to be a part of this! I think I could do any of those things except the translations from the German and the textures. But, like WolfieMario, I can’t guarantee I’ll be available for the next two years … for the same reasons
i’m not even a gamer, but i would totally play the sandra and woo adventure game!
@ Novil:
Hi, I had emailed you, but I don’t know that it went through. I would be interested in participating as a voice-actor in the English version if I had more details.
Would it be best if I re-sent the email? Our system is fairly glitchy, so I am never sure if emails go through as they should.
@ Cori:
Sorry, this was supposed to go to Milena.
@Cori: You can send me a mail and ask what you want to know ;).
This sounds very exciting! I wish I could offer my services for the visual aspect, but my animation skills are highly rudimentary.
Do you by any chance already have a composer for the background music/theme music? I am currently a graduate student in music, and everyone tells me that my compositions sound like video game music, so I figured I’d offer my services if they’re needed. 🙂
Exactly what kind of voice actors are you looking for? Any specific dialects?
Oh, I would LOVE to be able to do the 2nd bullet, I am excellent in backgrounds and textures! Note me on dA if you have one 😀
@ ZakSaturday2468:
Sorry, this was cut off for some reason: I am also willing to do English voice actors
@ Beverly Harlton:
Please contact the project leader Milena at dupre60@gmx.de
@ ZakSaturday2468:
You didn’t give the link to your DeviantArt account. But if you’re interested, you should contact the project leader Milena at dupre60@gmx.de

We’re looking for voice actors for Sandra, Woo, Cloud, Larisa (Russian dialect), Landon and for at least ten adult characters. We’re not yet able to give much details about voice acting since we’re still very early in the development. If you’re interested you should contact the project leader Milena at dupre60@gmx.de
what kind of adventure game are we talking about? Like an awesome 3D platformer adventure like Jak and Daxter? Or is it more of a puzzley thing?
If you guys could throw me any comparisons, it’d hype me up a bit more to throw money at you.
So, it’s been two years since you guys announced it. Still waiting to hear about anything new.
Looks like FF Games is having a totally original adventure for once. And well, I have a few questions.
-Who will publish the game?
-What platforms will it be on?
-What rating will it be?
-Any luck on voice actors?
And anything else beyond a 3D Woo model?
I volunteer to do Landon, Cloud, or an adult character! I would love to be in a videogame! You can check out my voice (And others) on our Youtube channel (Above^). If this is still going to be a thing please let me know. Thank-you very much! Arigatōgozaimashita!
I’ve done some professional music composition for indie games. It doesn’t sound like you need anyone in that department right now… but I can still give you my portfolio if you’re interested.
