- Lilith: I guess I wasn’t that great so far…
- Alissa: You were all right.
- Lilith: I wonder what the last golem will look like…
- Alissa: We’ll see in a moment!
- Lilith: AHH!! BRIGHT!
- Alissa: Or not.

I’m not an expert on grammar and Novil may be invoking a rule of gammar not commonly used (such as when he used dissapeared as transative verb in Sandra and Woo) but “What the last golem might look like?” sounds horribly awkward to me. It sounds like an indirect statement missing the introduction. How it made sense to me was I added “I wonder,” to the begining resulting in “I wonder what the last golem might look like?”, but to use similar space I would probably word it as “What might the last golem look like?”.

That was a late change to more closely resemble the text in the German version. Thanks for the notice that you just can’t say it this way in English.
@ Guest: It’s actually grammatically correct. It’s the non-interrogative version of “what will the last golem look like?”
Anyone named Lilth is bad news.
Nice text change.
Yo@ TraderInTown:
You mean any witches or wizards like Lilith who wield a sword that they haven’t been trained to use instead of a wand or something to channel their power is bad news! 😛 And how much ya wanna bet the light either isn’t caused by a monster or the monster is a being of light itself?
@ Frank:
But it also feels feels awkward in context. An arguably famous grammatically correct sentence is “Colorless green dreams sleep furiously.” Just because something’s grammatically correct doesn’t mean that it works. Personally, I like the current version – it was a good change.
Light golem! 😀
I love the hell out of this comic! Keep up the great work!
Entertaining comic, but if it really costs $100 per page to make, you spend more on this comic than i do on my mortgage…
@ Meem:
I was wondering about that too. I guess they mean in labor costs?
Oh, dear… They both failed their Reflex saves to avoid being blinded?
Blind-fight doesn’t seem like a waste of a feat anymore, now does it? DOES IT?!
Sorry. Old argument. 😀
The gamer strikes again!
*gulp* LIGHT GOLUM!
Lilith’s using a sword, The cover art lied to me!
Wow, so glad that I caught this while it’s just starting up. *add to RSS*
@ Counter parts:
Nero: light golum? no, they arn’t composedon the out side of light, only the inside.
Sshade:most likly some kind of solora monster
Nightmare: …
And then the tentacles shot out, and the fun REALLY began.
Come on everyone here had the thought at least for a second.
no not really@ Nick/Tyrong:
@ Nick/Tyrong:
I actually thought that the room might contain no monster at all
@ Frank:
ccould be a flash trap
Shade: might be the one i lost…
@ Twilite:
Or maybe it has something to do with website costs.
Alissa being the archer and Lilith the swordfighter means that it was Lilith’s job to keep the previous five golems away from Alissa until she could fire her arrows effectively. Regardless whether Lilith used the sword or her magic powers, and regardless how effective she was, she was successful and is still ready to fight the sixth golem…
@ Goldendice:
What’s awkward about that sentence?
ITs the two guys Random unexpected rivalry boss fight! LOLZ.
Least thats what would happen in some rpg games anyway. that or dopplegangers.
@ illeatyourself:
i say light attribute monster
@ illeatyourself:
I think the test is to make sure every student is ready to fight no matter what weapon they wield.
And LOTR, Demon’s Souls and Skyrim proofed that magician carry sword too.
Heat will kill people but the physical destruction power isn’t great enough for the earth moving purposes you require. Looks like you’re right about this one. Lucky for us, huh? The Yellowstone caldera could still become more dangerous down the road.
[…] Gaia, Lilith and Alissa […]
Lilith: Supongo que no he peleado muy bien…
Alissa: Éso no es cierto.
Lilith: Me pregunto cómo será el último gólem…
Alissa: ¡Ahora lo veremos!
Lilith: ¡¡AHH!! ¡MIS OJOS!
Alissa: Quizá no.
