- Ilias: Ever had a feeling of déjà vu?
- Alissa: You mean like just now?
- Sandril: A couple of times, but…
- Ryn: … this one felt extra weird.
- Alissa: Lili, did you just mess with our heads?
- Lilith: I think that was me, yes. Strange.
- Alissa: Be careful, Lili. It’s pretty darn dangerous to lose control over the Bluestream.
- Lilith: I will.
- Lilith: So will you come along… to get a drink at the cocktail bar?
- Alissa, Ilias, Ryn and Sandril: Yay!

Even though the reason why it happened and what we have seen wasn’t solved yet, we at least know now that everyone saw it.
Drinks make everything better!
@ Tina:
And a drink makes them forget about it
Agreed, I was confused there about what everyone was seeing.
i think that was a kind of echo from a future event rippling back to the past and it was obviously an event that involves a very serious looking lili
“It’s pretty darn dangerous for you to loose control, Lili. Now thats settled, lets all get drunk!”
So I noticed the cute raccoon pointing to a blank spot, I figured this was an ad that got blocked. Since I like the comic I decided to turn off my adblocker for this site. Turns out the ad the raccoon was pointing to was a fake flash video that purposely looks broken in an attempt to trick you into clicking on it, and there was a sidebar ad trying to trigger an epileptic seizure.
I promptly re-enabled my adblocker.
Am I the only one still getting FFVIII vibes out of this?
Now I’m surprised. Usually when the heroes asks if anyone else saw that, the answer is negative. Things are getting interesting.
@ Zero-ELEC:
You mean you didn’t notice the walls of the FFVIII-vibe comments from the start of the ballroom scene on?
But yea, you’re not only one. Pretty much all of us who have played that game get the references now and then.
Adventuring party…formed!
And that little twist was just so awesome. It’s not foreshadowing if EVERYONE notices at the same time AND the “culprit” ‘fesses up almost instantly.
The “oh…it was nothing” / “I won’t tell anyone about this” trope can be very irritating. 15 points for sidestepping it entirely!
@ Anon:
I disagree, it still is a foreshaddowing, or may turn out to be. it’s really unlikely that it has no meaning, right? It just means that we now definatly know that these 5 will be working together in the future to fight against the threat, probably posed by this Bhaal god, so even the jerk wil lbe part of this, which kind of surprised me.
Also we talk about super Lilith here, little miss “get’s more points in the test then available and could have done better”, she just losing the control over her power? That’s realy unlikely, so it may have been a vision she unconciously showed the others, or some unconsious message she couldn’t hold in, or maybe a higher beeing used her as a medium to convey this warning to the others.
I just wonder how they can be like “hey let’s dink” after something like this happened O.o I mean, it’s lillith, she doesn’t just looses her control! I would be really worried even if I didn’t read anything into the vision. Well we’ll see what is going on soon enough ^^
How do you just ignore that? I think Lili was trying to send a message to the past
Last frame, most heart warming

To put it bluntly… People trying to send infromation from future should really focus on what they are actualy sending. A Blurred message without context usually does more harm than good.
On the other hand Lilith really needs to keep training. I wonder if Hel is going to keep her at school… perhaps training for an archmage level. I doubt school provides that in “normal” course. Perhaps his apprentice. Or maybe Ars´es aprentice… Or maybe they should get a fully fledged dragon to keep an eye on her.
Future Lili: ‘Deju Vu THIS!’ *floats flowers from a future rift.
Wow. They shook that off quick.
Anyway, as I cold and black as my heart is, that last panel made me smile. And chuckle a bit. No, forget the chuckle, it was just a smile. More like a smirk. Make that a lesser frown.
(It still was pretty heartwarming though).
Also, why is it Deja Vu? It hasn’t happened yet. It needs to happen, then get replayed to be Deja Vu.
“Did anyone else see Lilith become a total badass just now?”
“Yeah, a little.”
“Well, that settles it. We’re all drunk to the point of hallucinating.”
“Seems like it.”
“Only one thing to do…more drinks!”
“Huzzah!”

Agreed, This is a much entertaining form of storytelling than the classic clichés.
They are not ignoring what just happened, they discussed it, and took note of it. However there is not much that they can do, the ripple didn’t give enough information and it doesn’t seem like something is going to happen right NOW. So there is no reason to stop enjoying themselves a little, especially since this might be one of the last times they will be together for a long time.
They definitely know that something weird happened, and will probably discuss it with someone more knowledgeable later. Everyone knows of Bhaal in this planet, if anyone of them understood that part, s/he will look into it. Also Lilith will not ignore it herself, she might not show it, but she is/will be analysing this profoundly.
On another topic, the buffoon guy in the first frame, reminded me of Tycho Brahhe, from PennyArcade
. I don’t know why…
Gee, what would happen if a powerful magic user got drunk?
@ TraderInTown: not necessarily. Meaning : some can get a deja vu feeling despite what they saw never having happenned, yet. Sometimes this can be explained by some timeline rewind phenomena (like someone capable of going back in timeline to change a decision that impacts future. Check “The Batman” episode talking about a petty thief with a time rewind power).
In any case, i seriously doubt this was the current Lili’s doing, like she claims. But since she feels the Bluestream differently, might be why she thinks it’s her.

Well when Medivh examined Khadgar´s performance after he has drunk several goblets of wine by requesting simple levitation spell on certain ceramic object it ended up with Khadgar gooing for broom to clear out the mess.
I doubt that this setting is any different. Drunk mage is usually a catastrophy.
@ maravilla:Mm, i dunno. Even if Lili is a very powerful mage, she’s still a teenager. God knows normal teens have a hard enough time controlling themselves. She’s got so much magic she’s practically exploding with it. I wouldn’t be surprised if she had daily struggles trying to get it under control. She’s probably had slip ups, though maybe not very severe, every once in a while.
I guess this is the point where Sandril can be officially marked as “friend.”
@ codefreak8:
Not so fast. They’re just having drinks. Ilias is still after his woman.
Also, I get that it’s cool for the heroes to immediately discuss a vision, but that’s not always a good idea.
If I was standing in front of all my friends and had a freaky vision, I’d probably just keep quiet. You can’t go shouting, “Hey, did anyone else have a vision of the future just now?” ‘Cause if it’s just you, they’re gonna look at you real weird or think you’re joking. If you go roaring about every strange vision you’re going to end up in an asylum. The reason it worked here was because it was distinctly magical, and there’s a mage in the group already.
@ TraderInTown:
Well, certainly. For me, it’s just scary that they let it slip aside so nonchalantly. =/
@ monstersoul:
True, but I’, partly arguing from a readers perspective and if there is somethimg readers of fantasy tales learn pretty fast is that such szenes usually have a deeper meaning then “she couldn’t control her powers” if it as about her control over her power they would have shown how she harmes someone because a spell went a little over board, this would foreshaddow that in a critical situation this might happen, or she would have to overcome her fear it might happen again. Something along those lines.
This szene on the other hand didn’t do anything harmfull or such, also she didn’t really realize that she did it etc. so as a reader the explantion “she couldn’t control it” after I have only seen her been little miss perfect seems more than unlikely. So I stick with “vision/message/warning” or whatever it in fact is. Will probably revealed in the distant future ^^*
Am I the only one hoping Sandril and Ilias become good friends?
Red guy looks like Fire Nation.
@ Quentin:
Yes. You are the only one.
@ TraderInTown:
Actually they are not THAT hostile. They simply bully each other often, but now how to have fun together with the others. That panel proves it. Add to the mix a common goal at one point of their lives, and they should become good friends.
RIght, I’m calling it. Ryn becomes corrupted by unspeakable evil in the form of the god Bhaal and attempts to destroy/enslave the world. While working together to stop him, Illias and Sandril begin to acknowledge each other as rivals and friends. In the end, Alissa sacrifices herself to free Ryn from Bhaal, confessing her undying love to him in the process. In the end, Sandril raises a banner to unite the fragmented people of the now shattered world, Lilith dedicates her life to ensuring Bhaal is sealed away forever, and Illias exiles himself in an attempt to atone for failing to save his best friends life.
After rereading that, I’m starting to get worried that I’m too cynical to just enjoy a good story anymore…
And the moment Alcohol is mentioned everyone forgets the strange magical moment that could be a warning of doom for us all! Isn’t humanity so good at having its priorities straight?

Well… how was it said in Babylon V… “We sapinents tend to carefuly analyze the problem… and then tend to use the worst possible solution”.
(Franklin and some alien doctor were debating an illness which was 100 percent fatal to two races… the races which it originated it called it a religion base taboo… Franklin spoke about black death (plague from middle ages). People analyzed it, deemed it “work of devil” and went to exterminate cats (the only factor that kept rat population of rats at bay during that time), allowing it to spread even more.

@ Schatsky:
Umm, I can’t see Alyssa ever falling for Ryn.
@ Darth Killer:
They had a sword fight in the street. How is that not hostile? Likely they’re tolerating each other right now because of the vision and Lili complaining at them. As soon as there’s no witnesses, it’s on.
@ maravilla:
(Yeah, several months afterwards, but I thought I’d add my 2p worth anyway)
Lilith noticed earlier that something unusual was happening to the Bluestream. I’m guessing what just happened was a side-effect / manifestation of that; and as Lilith’s one of the most powerful magic users around, it affected her first. Presumably if whatever’s behind the disturbance increases, then others will start noticing.
So it wouldn’t surprise me if at some point in the near future, all five have to put aside their differences and work together to defeat a common enemy.
